Adam and Erica save Pine Valley! (Soaps.com)
Pondering Pine Valley
November 17 – November 21

Between the Pine Valley Transporter and Petey's declaration of love, I wasn't sure which way was up this week! Seriously, how did Zach get to Canada and back in a single morning? How did Jesse arrive in Puerto Rico from Pennsylvania in the same amount of time it took for Aidan and Greenlee to island hop to a small key? Does no one think of these things but li'l ol' me? Oh, and Petey, sweetheart, love bug. . . give Colby a little room to breathe before she has you arrested!

On with the blog!

The Puerto Rico Catastrophy

Okay, the storyline is actually very compelling, I'm just having some issues with the writers and the ability of characters to travel thousands of miles in the blink of an eye. I mean, come on, Greenlee calls Aidan in Pine Valley and he's at the Puerto Rican clinic within the hour? I don't think so. I realize showing Aidan on the plane would be boring, but how about a little Greenlee pacing in the halls? How about showing a time lapse of sun going down/sun coming up as she sits by Aidan's bedside? Just a thought!

I was glad that Ryan started using his brain this week. Seems like months since he did that! Was the man-genius really confused as to why the 'kidnapper' was always one step ahead when Annie was pulling all the strings from the get-go? "We can't call Jesse. We have to go alone." And on and on. Yeesh! She telegraphed that one.

That said, Ryan's still on my list because he's now pretending to love Annie to trick her into admitting her complicity. Come on! Give the girl some respect, Ryan, you've been romancing her in the wrong places and at the wrong times since you met. Yes, she 'kidnapped' your daughter but she took her to sweetie Di. Just gather evidence, confront her and have her committed. Romancing her to get what you want is how you got into this silly mess in the first place.

And, Greenlee, go home. You serve no purpose here except to aggravate Annie even more; the last thing we need in Pine Valley is another aggravated Novak kid!

Krystal's Breakdown

It's about time! That's all I have to say about that. I know Krystal's been playing the strong woman, but come on! She lost her daughter. Of course she's going to be teary and upset. David's manipulations are just adding to that. I also loved Tad's helplessness this week; he's trying to help Krystal and the more he tries the more she pulls away. Love that drama!

Reese, Bianca and Zach

I really like the dynamic of Zach as older-brother to both Reese and Bianca. I really don't get Reese's crying on his shoulder after about two minutes of knowing him. And since when did Zach become the town sage? Okay, he's been through the mill, but our strong-and-silent Zach giving advice? It's just a little weird. I like it, but it's weird.

Was I alone in wanting to smack the first minister at Gabrielle's christening? Whatever your religious beliefs, that baby has done nothing wrong and it was just plain wrong for the minister to place his personal issues on that baby's head. Kudos to Erica for kicking him out and finding a minister who didn't come with so much baggage!

Adam and Erica

I'm not sure when it happened but Erica and Adam seem to be the only sane couple left in Pine Valley. And that is so wrong to say! I love the bickering and the push-pull of their relationship but it's just flat out wrong for them to be the only normal couple left on the soap! Ryan and Greenlee? Been there and boring. Amanda and David? That's just ickey. JR and Babe are dead, Tad and Krystal are still more best friends than lovers and the Jake/Taylor duo is too early to determine as a go-to couple.

David's Schemes

Which brings me to David and Amanda. As much as I love David's scheming and manipulations – hey, every soap opera needs a villainous schemer and JR isn't exactly lily-white, people! – if they sleep together again I might lose my lunch. Yeah, David's a hottie and Amanda's drop-dead gorgeous. But he is her best friend's father and she's been down the older-man road before. Let's give the chick a little credit; yeah, she wants money but sleeping with her dead best friend's dad is not the way to do it!

Colby and Petey

I'm still loving Pete and Colby. He's a nut and she's determined not to fall for a nut – or anyone else. Which is a nice twist to the Romeo/Juliet thing they have going on. In the past, they'd be together just to get the goats of their parents. As much as Petey is pushing Colby, she's not going for him on principal. Not her father's but her own. She doesn't want to be in the middle of a Cortlandt/Chandler war anymore than she wants to live with Tad and Krystal. So when she finally gives in to her feelings, I predict fireworks bigger than Time Square at New Year's.

The addition of Brot to her life is nice, too, because Colby is being forced out of her rich-girl shell and into real life. I predict a strong friendship between these two for as long as Brot is in Pine Valley.

Jake/Taylor/Brot

Did anyone else's heart break a little bit when Brot overheard Jake and Taylor talking? Oh, I just wanted to reach through my television screen and give him a big hug. Disfiguring injuries or not, the man is wearing his heart on his sleeve; he desperately wants to let Taylor go but he's still head over heels in love with her. She's still at least a little bit in love with him, too, or she wouldn't be so conflicted about her feelings for Jake. Telling a guy you could fall for him is one thing; actually letting go, for Taylor, is going to be tough.

Many of you agree with my sentiments. Last week, I polled you on the Brot/Taylor/Jake triangle. Nearly 90% of you said you liked the storyline (some of you are worried it will drag out tooooo long; let's wait and see, shall we?) and only about 10% of you wanted the storyline to end – fast!

Final Thoughts

You know, it's about time someone with a business brain took on Fusion. It's been months since the company was properly cared for. Plus a little Greenlee/Erica fighting is always a fun day!
