All My Children's Alicia Minshew Chats About 2009 Soap Cruise! Tuesday, June 03 2008

Are you looking for a little fun in the sun? How about some fun in the sun with a few of your favorite soap stars? If that is your idea of a great time, you'll want to be on board Soap Cruise 2009.

Fourteen of daytime's favorite stars will cruise the Caribbean - with you! Among the stars cruising are four All My Children favorites: Jacob Young (JR), Alicia Minshew (Kendall), Cameron Mathison (Ryan) and newcomer Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake).

Alicia and Cameron, you may remember, cruised during the 2007 Soap Cruise. If you missed out on the fun last year, you won't want to miss the next cruise!

I had the chance to chat with Alicia about the upcoming Soap Cruise, set for January 22, 2009 - January 26, 2009. Alicia said she is looking forward to spending time with the fans and seeing some of her non-AMC soap pals but she will also be ready for a break from New York's cold winters!

"Getting away!" said Alicia, laughing. "Just getting out of New York in January! I've been here for 12 years but you never get use to it [the cold]. I long for my Florida weather!"

What else is Alicia looking forward to?

"I'm looking forward to seeing all the other actors from the other shows. The people I met last year were some of the most hilarious people I've met in my life!"

There is also plenty of time for fan interaction. The stars will have a meet and greet type event, there will be autograph signings and a soap trivia game. What fun!

I asked Alicia if there are any newcomers to the cruise she is looking forward to meeting. She said she most wanted to meet Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, General Hospital. "I am so looking forward to meeting him. I think he is one of the funniest young actors on Daytime, I've watched him on GH, in scenes with Maurice (Benard, Sonny of GH) and Steve (Burton, Jason of GH) and he holds his own. He's different and he's really funny."

One newcomer to the cruise Alicia has already gotten to know is Ricky Paull Goldin, AMC's new Jake.

"I met him years ago and he has known several of us, but he came to [the show] and he immediately fit in like he's family. He's very warm and very family oriented, like the rest of us."

Is there any chance Alicia's Kendall and Ricky's Jake might. . .um. . .hook up?

"I know Kendall and Jake don’t have a history but the least they can do is, talk!" said Alicia.

One non-soap pal you'll find hanging out with Alicia is her fiancée Richie, who proposed last fall. He came along on the cruise in 2007 and Alicia says wouldn't miss the 2009 gathering for anything. As we chatted about engaged life, Alicia let me in on a few wedding details. Though the couple doesn't have a specific date picked out, Alicia says they are thinking about fall dates!

"We're thinking toward the end of October. It's going to be small, just our immediate families and a few friends. A tiny place and a tiny dinner afterward," she said. "We just want to keep it simple. I don't want a huge wedding. All my sisters have done it [the big wedding thing] and I just want to make the day about our families coming together and getting to know one another."
