A Top Model Joins All My Children!!

Monday, April 07 2008

Yaya DaCosta (BlackFilm.com)
For several weeks now, the online world has been abuzz with who the powers that be in Pine Valley would hire to play Angie Hubbard's adopted daughter Cassandra. Soaps.com has learned that YaYa DeCosta - a finalist in Cycle Three of America's Next Top Model - has taken on the role!

Yaya was the first runner up during her cycle of the reality television hit and has platformed her role on the show into a successful acting career.

After leaving ANTM, Yaya has appeared in television shows such as "Eve", "Racing for Time" and "Take the Lead". She just finished the film "The Shanghai Hotel", which is set for release later this year.

Here is a little more trivia about YaYa: she can speak four languages (English, French, Portuguese and Spanish), she graduated from Brown University where she studied International Relations and she was born in Harlem.

The role of Cassandra, Angie's adopted daughter with Jesse look-alike Jacob, is a new role for All My Children but you may remember her as a child on the now-defunct soaps Ryan's Hope and The City. Cassandra was a small child at that time and will join her family in Pine Valley as a teenager.

A few weeks ago Angie mentioned to Frankie that Cassandra had decided to remain in Europe with Jacob for a few more weeks. Now that we know Cassandra is returning to Pine Valley could Jacob - and a dual-role for Darnell Williams - be far behind?

Soaps.com has learned that Cassandra will first air on April 25.

Never mind that she is a "top model". Can she act?

I look forward to the addition to the Hubbard family, Thank-you AMC for the outstanding way the Hubbards have been re-added to the show, proves that people of color can carry a front-burner story. Congratulations Yaya, I am sure you will do your fans proud.

Congratulations to the newest AMC family member. I hope you make all AMC fans pound.
How to hint of Darnell Williams possible playing a dual role. I Hope NOT…. I started back watching AMC everyday and if not twice a day because of JESSE(D Williams) and ANGIE (D Morgan). Not because of Jacob.

I didn't catch this when I made my post yesterday, but when was Angie on RYAN'S HOPE? At the time RH went off the air, she and Jessie were still on AMC. They were on both LOVING and its offshoot THE CITY, but to the best of my knowledge never on RYAN'S HOPE.

You are correct Jesse was never on Ryan’s Hope. I'm saying that I hope the writers aren't thinking about a dual role for Darnell on AMC as Jesse and Jacob.
No room for Jacob in Pine Valley

I want to congradulate Yaya on her new role for All My Children, I've watched her on Top Model and I did see the LifeTime movie Racing for Time and I think she did a wonderful job in that movie, it was the first time that I seen her act and to me she did a good job so I am looking forward to see what she will bring to the table on AMC.

A dual role for Darnell? Works for me! If David Canary can do it, so can fine, fine, Darnell; the more the merrier!
