Soaps.com chats exclusively with Julia Barr!

"Brooke" chats with "Jack". (Soaps.com)
She may have been missing from Pine Valley for just over a year, but we haven't forgotten Julia Barr, ex-Brooke. And, it turns out, she hasn't forgotten the fans, either. For the past year Julia has been very busy with other projects, and she says she would consider a return to All My Children!

Soaps.com recently caught up with Julia through an email question and answer session to find out what has been going on with our favorite star.

Kristi: "Your last day at AMC was in December 2006. What have you been up to since?"

Julia: "A little bit of everything! I have been traveling a lot - - visiting friends around the country and also, Richie and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Europe. In addition, I’ve been doing some staged play readings with friends and colleagues including one with Kim Zimmer, (Reva, Guiding Light), Bobbie Eakes, (Krystal) and Kelli Giddish(ex-Di). I also took a fascinating seminar relating to holistic animal health. So I’ve been keeping busy and really enjoying myself.

Kristi: "Fans always ask about Brooke and the possibility of a return to All My Children. Would you ever consider returning to the role?"

Julia: "If it were the right time and the right storyline, I would certainly be open to it."

Kristi: "Do you have a favorite "Brooke" memory - a favorite storyline, a stand-out scene or maybe a favorite show event like a wedding or ball?"

Julia: "Anything with Brooke and Erica was always a favorite. Of course the storyline involving Laura’s death…and early Brooke/Edmund, especially the quicksand! And I loved anything I got to do with David (Canary, “Adam”)."

Kristi: "Your first acting job was in theater during a production of "West Side Story"; would you like to do more theater work?"

Julia: "I have always loved doing theatre and always will!"

Kristi: "Do you have any new acting projects in the works?"

Julia: "I am currently working on a few things and can hopefully share more with everyone in a few months. Stay tuned!"

Kristi: "Your daughter has begun acting in a few projects; what has that been like? Does she come to you for advice on her roles?"
Julia: "She is very independent and doesn’t come to me for advice. And, she doesn’t need it! She is extremely talented and I am very proud of her. Seeing her begin her own career does bring back great memories for me of the excitement and newness of getting started in the business."

Kristi: "I know you've been very involved with "The Fund for Animals" – now part of The Humane Society of the United States. How did you become involved and why is it close to your heart?"

Julia: "I’ve always been an animal lover and have had cats and dogs my entire life (and still do!). The Fund for Animals and The Humane Society of the United States are amazing organizations who accomplish a great deal on behalf of animals. They impress me tremendously and I like to spread the word any way that I can."

Kristi: "A couple of years ago you released a CD with proceeds benefiting The Fund for Animals - - do you have plans for any similar projects?"

Julia: "In addition to the CD project, which my husband produced, I also did another project with my husband – animal note cards, from which proceeds went to support other animal organizations. My husband and I enjoy collaborating on art and music and you never know what we’ll come up with next…. But for now, we have no immediate plans for a particular project or product!"

I would like to thank Julia for taking time out to talk to us here at Soaps.com. We love catching up with our favorite stars and miss you - and the character Brooke - so much! Good luck with your future projects!

I knew Julia years ago. I was there when movie star Van Johnson chose her out of a group of actresses to appear with him in a play, thus earning her an Equity card. I was at her first wedding when she married Richard Barr (and has since kept his name). I just want to say that she is every bit as nice as she is talented.

I go back to watching AMC from day one...young Erica and Jeff..but, when Julia appeared, I found it great fun with her and Aunt Phoebe and Charles who showed up eventually.
I wish I could write for the show !!! I know more about all the personalities than my own family, almost Julia
has a skill for expressing emotions, which are believable. Some actresses are good at faking it, but..Julia almost uses her own soul to make the point...yes, my dogs and I watch AMC almost every day....I think they should introduce a dog to the show as a permanent cast member...trick is, who do you think would be responsible enough, as a character, to be the guardian. I think that would be a good way to promote the well being/humane society/red cross...I recently took a doggie CPR class..so informative...and think how many people could be touched...wish I could talk with the writers...have in mind the perfect role for Julia!!
...could be a real shakeup for Pine Valley..grin.
