In the warehouse, a distorted voice talks to Jesse and Tad, who draw their guns. Tad moves to another door and quickly opens it. They step in and see that the voice is a recording. On a cork board, pictures of Jesse and headlines of Jesse's death are displayed. Angie grabs the power cord and unplugs the recorder. Tad finds Jesse's police badge and a video tape. They watch as Jesse is beaten on the tape and the recorded voice tells Jesse that they will meet again very soon. Upset, Angie tells Jesse that they have to stop looking into the past and just move forward before he is killed.
Jesse and Angie return to Tad's. Angie is still upset about the tape, wondering why those people have been after Jesse for 20 years. As they talk Angie notices an envelope on the desk that wasn't there when they left the house earlier. Jesse grabs the envelope. Inside are pictures of Colby and Frankie - bound and gagged! There is a note that instructs Jesse to return to the warehouse, alone, or lose Frankie. Tad calls and Jesse fills him in on the picture. He says there is a blonde girl in the picture but Jesse doesn't recognize her. In the background Adam demands to know what Tad is talking about.
At the Martin home, Tad is loading a gun when Angie walks in and tells them both to stop. She says she doesn't want either of them working with guns ever again! Jesse and Tad tell Angie they have no choice but to take matters into their own hands. Tad says they probably won't find anything at the warehouse anyway but they have to check it out. Angie still doesn't like the plan but she gives in. "Don't you dare let me regret this," she says. They leave and are searching the warehouse district for the right place when Jesse gets the willies and tells Tad to leave. Tad refuses and they keep looking. Neither notices that Rafael is following them. Finally they go into one warehouse and find a sign reading "Crane West Imports"; in the date book Papel has "CWI" beside his name. Jesse flashes back to his captivity and believes he recognizes the place. A door swings open. It's Angie!
At Tad's home, Jesse tells him about Papel. Tad says he knows him! Papel was a drug dealer; he was also connected to several murders but whenever the authorities tried to catch him he would escape. This worries Jesse. Tad begins blaming himself, saying Jesse wouldn't be in danger and neither would their families if he hadn't pushed to reunite Jesse with Angie. Tad says he really wishes his family wasn't under Adam's protection and tells Jesse about Krystal's past with Adam. He admits that Krystal isn't over Adam but tries to believe that she can resist Adam. They talk about Jesse's capture again and he remembers hearing a clock and water. They begin looking up warehouse areas on the Internet and find one near a clocktower and near the water.
Jesse is sleeping at Tad's home; he has a nightmare about his captors. Angie wakes him and tries to get him to talk to her but all Jesse will say is that his captors asked questions that he couldn't answer. Jesse pulls out the box of papers from Mrs. Remington inside he finds a letter Angie wrote him, telling him it is too soon for a relationship. He looks through Remy's organizer but doesn't see any strange appointments at first. He calls Angie at the hospital and says he may have finally found a break: an appointment in the book with "PAPEL".
At Tad's office, Rob asks several times for Jesse's or Frankie's name but neither will tell him. He finally leaves; Frankie offers to follow Robert but Jesse says not to worry about it. He sends Frankie home for the night. Once he is alone Jesse allows his worry about Rob to come to the surface. Angie and Tad return a few minutes later and worry Jesse even more when they say they were followed. Jesse says Rob stopped by. Tad decides Jesse needs a new hiding place. He leaves. Angie tells Jesse more about Mrs. Remington, sad for the older woman. Angie makes bad coffee and says she isn't going to let him leave her again.
At the investigation office, Jesse is very jumpy. He leaves but as soon as the door closes, someone grabs him from behind! It's Frankie! He pushes Jesse back inside, reminding him that it isn't safe on the streets. They argue but Frankie won't let Jesse go anywhere. He says losing his dad once was bad enough; he won't let Jesse kill himself by stepping into danger again. Jesse is quiet for a while and Frankie plays video games. He loses and screams, telling Jesse that he is bad at all games because he didn't have a dad to teach him how to play. Jesse says he'll take all the blame Frankie can dish out because at least they are talking now. Frankie lightens up, asking Jesse to teach him how to play pinball. Frankie plays until Jesse sends him home. Jesse opens the door and Rob Gardner is on the other side!
At the investigation firm, Tad tells Jesse that the headlines aren't necessarily a bad thing. Jesse agrees but wants to move very fast to keep ahead of the bad guys. Tad says Derek doesn't have any leads on Remy's killer or why he was placed in the bomb shelter. Together they go back through what happened after the shooting and decide that Remy dated Angie because he wanted the same thing that Jesse's captors did. Unfortunately, Jesse can't remember any old cases that might help them. Jesse goes to the hospital and sneaks up on Angie in a darkened lab room! He says they need more information about Remy and asks Angie if she'll help them find Remy's mother. Angie looks up Remy's information in the hospital database and finds her address. Jesse turns to go but Angie says it is a better idea if she goes. Jesse doesn’t like the idea but realizes Angie is right.
Jesse returns to Tad's office and impatiently waits for Angie and Tad to call. As he waits he remembers origami birds falling to the floor.
As Angie and Jesse try to listen in, Rob tells Tad that Ray Gardner was his brother. Tad makes it clear that he doesn't consider Ray his father or any of the Gardner's his relatives. Rob writes down a cell number and says he would like to get to know Tad, without the strings of the past, and then leaves. Tad goes upstairs and tells Angie and Jesse about "Uncle Rob". He says he can't help disliking Rob for the things Ray did. Tad changes the subject and they began talking about Remy. Jesse remembers that Remy was suspected of money laundering for the drug dealers Jesse was investigating. Tad suggests that the bad guys waited so long to kill Remy because they wanted the heat to die down after Jesse's "murder".
