At the Martin home, Tad and Krystal throw a birthday party for Jenny. Colby is already there when Jesse and Angie arrive. Jesse is thrilled to meet Jenny at last. He and Tad reminisce about the original Jenny and Tad says he believes little Jenny is exactly like his sister. Jesse tells stories about how he first met Jenny and Greg, their prom and other funny events. Then he remembers how Liza tried to ruin things for Jenny by telling her about Ruth's rape. He apologizes to Colby for not liking Liza much and then tells her how he and Jenny got along in New York that summer. He tells them about Jenny's death and the memorial service. He tells little Jenny what Jenny always told him: to be happy you must have something to do and someone to believe in. Angie and Tad watch as Jesse finishes his stories.
Angie and Jesse return home and Jesse realizes the door is unlocked. He cautiously opens it. "Surprise!" yells Tad, Krystal, Colby, Frankie, Stuart and Joe. Tad explains that this is a welcome back party. Jesse and Angie are stunned. Colby asks Frankie how he is doing but it is obvious from the look on his face that having his dad back means everything to him. Dre arrives and Colby introduces the guys. Then, Robert stops in! Frankie tells Tad he invited him. Tad still doesn't trust him. Rob makes a beeline for Jesse and asks what his plans are. Jesse doesn't have any. Robert says he has been contacted by Hollywood about bringing the Papel investigation to the big screen; Jesse isn't interested. He asks about Robert's plans and he says he just wants to relax. Across the room, Krystal asks Frankie how he is getting along with Colby. Frankie says he misjudged her. Joe tells the group several stories about Jesse and then welcomes him home again. Stuart proposes a toast, too. He brings up Cindy and how Angie helped her. He wishes them the best for their second chance. Frankie is next. He talks about dreaming of seeing Jesse on a beach and how Dream Jesse gave him advice. He says he wants to be the same kind of dad someday and then asks Jesse to come with him to the beach. Colby leads Frankie outside as Tad makes his speech. She tells him goodbye and then plants a hot kiss on him. Before he can react, Colby walks away. Back inside, Krystal realizes that they are partying without Jesse and Angie. The party breaks up.
Jesse and Angie, meanwhile, have gone to the cabin in the woods for their honeymoon night. He opens the door and kisses her. They make love.
Jesse takes Angie to the Valley Inn for their honeymoon. Next door a band begins to play but Angie doesn't mind. They go to the bed and are making love when Angie realizes there is something on Jesse's head - it's chocolate. They start laughing. Once he is cleaned up, they begin making love again but accidentally knock over some candles. The flames set the window curtains on fire! Jesse jumps to put out the flames and both are caught, nearly-naked, by wedding party guests in the atrium below! They hop back from the window. Later, after they make love, a loud buzzing begins. They search the room but can't figure out what is going on. Finally Jesse realizes that someone set the alarm! Angie says maybe they should just go home; he agrees.
Angie and Jesse arrive at a justice of the peace - the same place where they married the first time! They talk about old times until a woman, the justice's daughter, arrives. She says the justice of the peace died a few years before and they will have to find someone else to perform the ceremony. Her elderly mother walks in and offers to stand in, unofficially, if they want. They take her up on it. Angie speaks first. "It was your love that kept me alive," she says, gently touching his face. Crying, Jesse says, "Our love was my shelter, my safety. I love you so much more now." They clasp their hands and kiss, remembering their first wedding, their senior prom, Jesse's "death" and their reunion. They kiss. Ms. Stiles takes their picture and prints a copy for them immediately. They thank the women and leave.
At the apartment, Angie finds some old pictures. She and Jesse talk about old times and how Jenny helped Angie sneak out. Sad, Angie asks Jesse to promise they won't lose any more time. He tells her about Samuel's job offer and Angie hits the roof. She says he can't take another job in law enforcement. Jesse says he won't and then puts on his old cap to make her laugh. They unpack a few things and Angie finds her old nightgown from their first night together. It brings back a lot of memories. Thinking about those times, Jesse grabs his hat and says he'll be right back. A few minutes later he returns with fresh flowers. He sees that she is wearing his ring again.
Jesse meets with Samuel at the Valley Inn. He is on the phone but hangs up when Jesse arrives. Sam offers Jesse a job as an investigator for the US Attorney's Office! Jesse is flattered but turns it down because he knows a job in law enforcement will freak Angie out. Samuel is understanding and says the offer will remain on the table for a while. He asks what Jesse's plans are but Jesse doesn't have set plans. Jesse asks about the phone call and Sam admits that the Erica Kane case has him stressed out. They begin talking about their hopes and dreams. Jesse credits Angie with helping him turn his life around. Sam tells him about losing his wife on 9/11 and says he hasn't handled the situation with his son well since then. Sam says the job offer will remain in effect for a while. Sam's phone rings with a check up; they still haven't found Erica or Carmen. Jesse says he doesn't miss that part of police work and leaves.
Tad, Krystal, Angie and Jesse are celebrating at The Comeback but Jesse can't hide his on-going worry. The others try to convince him that the missing necklace doesn't mean anything but he isn't sure. Krystal gets their food. As they talk, Tad notices Rob across the room and asks Krystal to kiss him. Rob sees them and comes over to say hi. Angie thanks Rob for saving Jesse's life; Robert says it was all in the line of duty but that his duty is over now because he's retired from the Bureau. Jesse thanks him, too. Rob says he is just happy he was in the right place at the right time. Robert asks about the food and Krystal leads him over to the juke box, she apologizes for dragging him away but says Jesse is still uncomfortable. Rob says he'll leave. Before going, he apologizes for bringing up bad memories of Ray and hopes that someday Tad can separate them in his mind. Rob keeps watching them from a distance. Tad is still upset by his uncle until Angie reminds him that if it wasn't for Rob both he and Jesse could have been killed. Just then Samuel Woods calls and asks Jesse to meet him immediately.
Jesse arrives at Angie's newly rented apartment. She's making dinner and Frankie is at the hospital working a shift. Jesse says he's checked the fire escapes and stairwells. Angie reminds him that things are fine now. They finish the dinner preparations together. Jesse says he has been talking to Derek and Angie interrupts, saying she won't allow him to rejoin the force. They sit down to dinner and Angie says a prayer for continued health, happiness and safety. Jesse says he has prayed for similar things for the past 20 years; Angie says she has, too. "From the deepest part of my soul, I love you," Angie says and kisses him. Jesse takes her to the bedroom and they make love. After, Angie talks about the future, hoping Jesse will be able to leave the past in the past. Jesse still wonders what Papel really wanted from him. Angie tells him about Mrs. Remington's death and her missing diamond, wondering what it all means.
Angie and Jesse have a date to meet up with Derek at the station. Angie is ready to go, but Jesse is standing still, staring forlornly at the front door, almost scared to walk through it into the outside world. “So you’re a little rusty…that’s why I’m here, remember?” Angie says. “This nightmare, thank God, is finally over!” They head out.
