Aidan orders tea from Krystal at The Comeback. He is about to toast when Greenlee comes in and asks if she can join him. Aidan turns and she slaps him! She thinks Ryan hired her to spy on her - and sleep with her! Aidan can't follow her train of thought at first but gets angry when he finally catches on. He gets through to her, saying he wouldn't sleep with anyone for money. They sit down and talk like rational adults. Greenlee tells him about Spike's allergic reaction, blaming herself just like Ryan has been doing. He points out that Greenlee didn't shove the vitamins down Spike's throat. Wes delivers a drink that Greenlee didn't order. Angry, Aidan confronts the guy who sent it - one of Ryan's guys! - and tells him to back off! He escorts the guy out, angering Krystal until he explains that the guy wasn't a customer at all. Krystal decides she doesn't want to know any more and walks away. Wes apologizes for falling for the guy and leaves. Greens thanks Aidan and they return to their table. She asks him not to hurt anyone on her behalf and he promises no one will get hurt but he'll keep watching out for her. They begin talking about the treasure that Greens picked up for Aidan on the beach. Aidan asks Greenlee to a movie. They make another bet and all Greenlee can think about is getting Aidan into bed again; she doesn't realize it but he is thinking along the same lines! Aidan leaves to follow up on the locket while Greenlee heads off to find them something nice to eat.
Babe and Annie arrive and go straight to the bar. Krystal gets their drinks and points out Greenlee with Aidan. Babe and Annie are shocked that they seem to be a pair. Annie sees the trinket that Aidan is waving around. She makes up an excuse about picking up Emma and leaves. She watches Aidan from outside, wondering how he got the locket that she threw out! Wes joins Babe at the bar. Babe asks his advice on getting Annie to open up about her fears. Wes suggests booze but Babe doesn't think that will work.
Greens is setting up their beach picnic a while later, exciting about the evening ahead. Aidan walks up, bends to pick something up and a figure pounds him over the head with a rock! When he is unconscious, the man takes the locket!
At Fusion, Annie’s telling the girls about Spike’s frightening night. The girls are on the warpath for Greenlee. Talking about Greenlee’s horrible deeds leads everyone to a little introspection and they talk about all the bad things they’ve done, but call Annie the “only innocent one in the bunch.” Annie doesn’t look too happy, knowing that she’s not exactly as “innocent” as they all make her out to be. Amanda gets a phone call from JR – he’s sent her the link to the photo of Ava and Jonathan. Amanda is unhappy and the freak-out spreads like wildfire through Fusion as Babe and Annie see the photo themselves. The stuff’s hitting the fan, just as Ava enters.
Zach and Kendall have just come home from a visit to Ian. Kendall says Spike’s life flashed before her eyes when he had his allergic reaction – in her “vision,” Spike could hear again. Kendall has no desire to take Spike back to Dr. Hilliard. Zach blames Greenlee for what happened. Kendall starts strolling down memory lane about when she brought Spike home and advice Erica had given her about not being afraid to raise him. Kendall’s doubting herself. She’s convinced she’s failed Spike again. She gets emotional, talking about how scary the world is. “I’m supposed to be my baby’s safe place,” she says. “I haven’t been Spike’s safe place since I told Greenlee to take him to the ER.” Zach does what he does best – moves into Mr. Fixit mode and tries to come up with plans to make Kendall feel better.
At the marina, Ryan runs into Greenlee and tells her about Spike’s reaction to the vitamins. Greenlee starts to freak out, asking if everyone’s okay, Ryan cuts her off, telling her to “Stop it! Now!” Greenlee claims to have only wanted to help by sending Dr. Hilliard to Kendall. “Spike is not your son,” Ryan tells her. Ryan accuses her of purposely causing problems in their lives again. Greenlee denies this, saying, “I’ve moved on, Ryan.” Ryan doesn’t buy it. He tells Greenlee that he’s hired a team of guys to watch her every move and stop her every time she comes near Spike or Kendall. To prove it, he lists every move she made the night before when she thought she was home alone in her apartment. Greenlee gets emotional, swearing she’s not going to hurt Spike. But Ryan won’t let up and tells her he’s going to continue to have her followed relentlessly until she leaves Pine Valley.
The Comeback is the place to be tonight! At the bar, Babe is holding an envelope and beaming – she’s gotten her high school diploma! Wes, the new bartender, flirts openly with her, and gives her a cupcake with the word “congratulations” written on it. Jonathan and Ava enter, holding hands. Wes right away recognizes Ava and flirts with her, too, but he doesn’t really mean it. It’s obvious already – he’s all about Babe. Outside, Greenlee is spewing venom at Aidan, sure that he’s the one who told Jack about her hiring Dr. Hilliard. When Aidan denies this, she thinks he’s lying. But Aidan springs it on her that not only did he not tell Jack, but she told Jack herself. What’s worse, he tells her that she said “other things” while she was in the hospital as well.
Back at The Comeback, Wes loads Jonathan and Ava with food that they didn’t order, on the house, to make up for hitting on Jonathan’s girl. Jonathan’s cool about it and he and Wes shake hands, but Ava darts for the restroom. Outside, Greenlee finally comes to grips with the fact that she was the one who blabbed about Hilliard to Jack. “I need a drink,” she says, lightheartedly. Greenlee whips out the locket/pocket watch she’d found on the beach and she and Aidan wonder about where it came from. Greenlee thinks it’s romantic, compares it to The Gift of the Magi. Something about the locket makes Greenlee romantic, but Aidan hardly shares her dreamy side. They make a friendly bet to find out what the history behind the locket really is: romantic like Greenlee suspects, or evil like Aidan suspects?
Back at The Slater house, the crisis is over, and Joe Martin arrives, just in time to tell them that the episode was caused by an allergic reaction, causing anaphylaxis. Trying to figure out the culprit of the allergy, Dr. Norton quizzes what has changed in Spike’s diet. Joe tries to break it to Kendall gently that she’s wrong – Spike can’t hear, but stubborn Kendall won’t believe him. Joe asks about the vitamins that she’s giving him. He surmises that the allergic reaction might be from the vitamins. Joe wants to look them over, but there are no ingredients listed on the bottle. Good timing! Dr. Hilliard and Erica arrive. An angry Ryan gets in Dr. Hilliard’s face. “What the hell did you do to my son?” he demands. He demands to know what was in the vitamins. Dr. Hilliard is evasive with his answer, but promises to give Joe a detailed list. Ryan and Erica are moving into angry mob mode, but Joe backs up Dr. Hilliard, saying they don’t know it was the vitamins until they get an ingredient list. Ryan threatens Dr. Hilliard, as he’s leaving, to never come near Spike again. With Hilliard gone, Erica warns Kendall not to believe a word that Hilliard says. Kendall immediately starts beating herself up for having listened to him. Erica tells Kendall that it’s not her fault, and then springs it on Kendall (and the rest) that Greenlee hired him.
It’s twilight in Pine Valley and things are cozy at the marina between Erica and Jack. Google eyes and romantic talk abound. Enter Greenlee, who looks down upon their table smugly. She starts to turn tail and walk right back out the door, but Erica spies her and calls her name. Greenlee joins them, but is suspicious. Jack plays the intermediary, begging them to sit together and have dinner nicely. They both agree, but give each other the evil eye over the tops of their menus. Dinner is going to get interesting…
