Josh arrives home to find Bianca, Zoe and her mother there. Zoe asks Binx and Josh to leave so they can talk alone. Without makeup and in men's clothes, Zoe offers to be Freddie for Margie again! She even sheds the English accent and offers to buy them tickets back to Indiana. "It'll be perfect, just like it was before," Zoe says. Margie doesn't buy the act and asks whey Zoe is doing this. Trying to convince Margie that she can ignore what she wants as long as she can have her mother, Zoe pushes Margie to leave town with her. "Freddie, no," she exclaims, when Zoe grabs a pair of scissors and prepares to cut her hair! Margie takes the scissors, telling Zoe to talk to her about what she really wants. "It all hurt me, Ma," she says, crying over the pain of her life. She explains that she kept her life filled with stuff so that she wouldn't have to have quiet moments alone with the pain of who she was. "I wanted to die," she says. Finally realizing the pain that Zoe has been in, Margie asks when she first knew. Zoe talks about crying through her first haircut and Margie is shocked that she knew so early. "I can't be your son," she says. Margie reaches out, calling her Zoe for the first time and telling her she is glad she's growing her hair out again. Mother and son embrace!
In the hall, Bianca worries about what is going to happen inside. She tells Josh how they found Zoe, with her face half made up, as they head to her penthouse. Josh tries to calm her down, explaining that Margie loves her son. Bianca's worry, though, is that Zoe will ignore who she is and revert to Zarf or Freddie just to make her mother happy! "Doctors and group go out the window when compared with a mother's love and acceptance," Bianca says, worried. Josh advises Bianca to take some time and stay away; saying what happens between Zoe and her mother has to be between the two of them alone. "Just sit here and wait?" Bianca says, not sure she can do that. Josh tries to distract her with a bag of goodies; Bianca shows him the things she bought for Zoe - music, movies, books - because she has so few things of her own. As she goes through the sack, Bianca comes to a realization. "She was right," Bianca says, flashing back to their first meeting when Zoe, as Zarf, asked if she believed in love at first sight. She asks Josh the same question and he talks about Babe. Bianca admits she felt something from the first moment she knew Zoe. "I want to be there for her. I'm falling for her," Bianca admits.
At the Valley Inn, Bianca visits Mrs. Luper. "How is my Freddie?" the woman asks but Bianca ignores the question, preferring to ask some of her own. Margie holds tightly to her child's baby blanket, wondering how she can help her son when she doesn't understand what has happened. "Zoe just needs you to love her," Bianca replies. She explains that the Zoe she knows and the Freddie Margie remebers have the same likes and dislikes, compassion and heart! Margie brings out some family photos and the two talk about the boy she remembers and the woman Bianca has come to know. "How do I help my son?" Margie finally asks. Bianca's answer is for Margie to show Zoe her love.
At ConFusion, Zoe is tipsy and in the mood to celebrate! Her family and the world thinks she is crazy, so she is going to prove them right! Amanda moves off to wait on other customers and Zoe heads behind the bar to help out; she winds up making a spectacle of herself. Del approaches, telling her to calm down and angering her. Amanda is finally able to pull Zoe from the spotlight. Zoe begins to cry, wishing she were a complete woman. "To your one-gender life, Amanda," she says in toast to her friend. Zoe asks about Janet, but Amanda doesn't let it slip that Adam helped her escape. "I'm terrified for her," is all she says. A man approaches to buy Zoe a drink. "You're a sick freak," he says in toast and tosses back the drink. Del comes to Zoe's defense, asking the man to leave. When he doesn't Zoe steps up to defend herself! Angrily, Zoe toasts the man saying, "My parents would have loved every bigoted part of you." Zoe slugs the drink and turns away, crying as Del escorts the man from the bar. Zoe hurries home and sadly stares at her reflection for a moment before running bathroom. There, she begins applying makeup to only half of her face. Bianca and Margie arrive, shocked at her appearance. Bianca asks Zoe to allow Margie inside, but Zoe wants nothing to do with her mother and turns away. When Margie turns to leave, Zoe rushes after her, hugging her and asking her to stay!
At Fusion, Zoe is frantically making calls to try to gain new clients. Josh and Bianca are helping her. A woman arrives, asking for Freddie - it's Zoe's mom! Bianca introduces herself and Josh quickly gets off the phone, too. Her mother approaches, smiles and envelopes Zoe in a hug. "Please don't do this to our family," she says, pulling away from him. Bianca tries to interrupt, but Zoe wants to hear whatever her mother has to say. "I saw pictures in the tabloids of you dressed. . .It's not right, honey," she says. With tears in her eyes, Zoe tells her mother that she is a woman! "I was born a girl! On the inside I am a woman," she says, begging her mother to understand. Mrs. Luper doesn't understand and wonders if the past drug and alcohol use has effected her son in some way. She asks Zoe to come home with her, to return to her life as Freddie. Zoe rushes from the room and Bianca follows. Alone with Mrs. Luper, Josh tries to make her see that Zoe is in fact a woman, but she doesn't believe him. "Zoe didn't choose this," Josh says, telling her that medically it is possible that she is a woman trapped in a man's body. Mrs. Luper wonders if she did something wrong during the pregnancy to cause this. Cautioning her that no one did anything wrong, Josh asks Mrs. Luper to just accept Zoe as she is.
At the park, Zoe sinks onto a bench, angry at her mother. Bianca tells Zoe about coming out to Erica and how difficult it was. She offers her support. Zoe doesn't see that what Bianca went through is the same as what she is going through, though. "My mother doesn't love me, she loves Freddie," she says, trying to make Bianca see the difference in her mother and Erica. Sitting with Zoe, Bianca tells her that when she sees intolerance from others, she prays that it will be different for Miranda if she lives an alternative lifestyle. If Miranda turns out to be "normal", though, she will be relieved because then her daughter will be safe from the intolerance that she and Zoe face. They continue talking and gradually Zoe begins to wonder if she can give her mother another chance.
Zoe arrives to work at Fusion and Bianca shows her a new ad layout. While they work, Kendall calls Zach but Lily won't put her call through! "Please, Lily, just ask him, just this once," she says. Kendall hangs up when Lily won't put her through. Josh arrives, demanding to see Babe, who isn't there. Kendall gives it right back to him and together she and Bianca ask Josh to forget about Babe - who has obviously made her choice - and instead to make things right with Erica. "Just get over it," Kendall says, but Josh won't back down. Instead, he brings Zoe into the conversation, asking what she thinks. "She's your mother, cut the woman some slack!" Zoe says. Josh can't forgive Erica though, and in fact, blames her alone for Babe being back at the Chandler mansion! Josh storms out and Kendall and Bianca follow, leaving Zoe to deal with a client. "You're a guy in a dress aren't you?" he asks, offended and refusing to deal with Zoe. Kendall and the others return as the client berates Zoe. Kendall interrupts, telling the client to leave, that they don't need his business! "Get out of my sight before I throw you out!" she exclaims. Kendall tells Zoe to find three new orders to replace the lost order and then leaves to get the money to repay Erica. Zoe is touched by Kendall's defense of her.
At Fusion, Erica interrupts Bianca and Kendall as they are talking about how to improve the company this time around. Erica has her own ideas for how to reinvigorate it, but the thought of Erica moving in on their business is upsetting to Binks and Kendall. Sean arrives, asking Erica if they can talk and when they leave the office, Bianca asks if Kendall thinks Erica would be a good addition. Kendall worries that Erica will take over, making Fusion hers instead of theirs. Bianca agrees. In another conference room, Sean tells Erica that divorcing Jack is a huge mistake and asks her to think about Jack and how Barbara has played him in the past - and how she is playing him now! "Don't let it happen," he says, "don't let her do this to him, or to Lily and me." Though she admits that she loves Jack, Erica is afraid to try for another chance. She hugs Sean, telling him how sorry she is but that it's too late. Sean heads for Bianca and Kendall to tell them to stop Erica. They both realize that Erica is focusing on them and Fusion so that she can ignore the divorce. Sean leaves and Erica comes back into the office, ready to get down to business. Instead of working, Bianca and Kendall hug her tight. They tell her that focusing on them won't make the divorce any less hurtful, and then they land another blow to her ego, telling Erica that they don't want her in Fusion's picture. Kendall explains that she is too big of a figure and they want the company to survive on it's own merits! Buoyed by their words, Erica prepares to go to the meeting with the lawyers. Both encourage her to take another chance on Jack. "You can do anything, Mom," Kendall says encouragingly. Bianca asks if Jeff is her future, but Erica can't answer. When she doesn't, they tell her to fight for Jack! Telling them she can't, Erica leaves.
At Bianca's penthouse, Babe interrupts Zoe and Bianca who are on the verge of their first kiss! She tries to leave but they invite her in. Little A and Miranda play and Zoe leaves the penthouse. Outside, she runs into JR, who wonders if Babe is inside. Telling him she is, Zoe warns JR not to go inside because obviously Babe wants time alone! Inside, Binks and Babe reminisce about the night Miranda and little A were born. JR arrives as Miranda opens little A's present. Babe is surprised to see him, but he quickly assures her that he didn't follow her. He simply wanted to see Miranda and wish her a happy birthday. He offers to leave if they would rather be alone, or offers to take Babe and little A home. They leave and Zoe returns with a last gift for Miranda. It's a music box that plays the song she sang at the party! Bianca is touched by how much Zoe obviously cares for her child. Zoe prepares to go, but Bianca stops her at the door. They kiss!
While decorating her apartment for Miranda's birthday party, Bianca worries about what Adam will do to Krystal. Josh could care less. He feels that anything that happens to Krystal is deserved! Bianca can't believe what he just said and they begin bickering. Zoe arrives to help as Myrtle, Lily and Jack arrive for the shindig. They volunteer to help get things ready. Zoe asks for Lily's help, and she asks, "You look like a man, why are you dressed like a woman?" Zoe explains herself to Lily, who is very accepting. Barbara arrives to apologize to Bianca for her behavior at the Pine Valley Inn - and then asks if she can stay for the party! Reluctantly, Bianca agrees that she can stay. Annoyed, Jack wonders why Barbara would want to attend the party. Erica, Kendall and Zach arrive with presents. Erica suggests that they make their announcement to the group and congratulations are offered all around. Myrtle, especially, is excited about the baby news. Lily stops the party, asking if she can still be an aunt if the divorce goes through. Before anyone can answer, Miranda and the nanny arrive and the party gets started! No one except Binks and Zoe are concentrating on Miranda, though. Josh tells Kendall about Krystal and Tad and when she doesn't jump to tell him he was right, walks away angrily. Lily talks to Erica, telling her that she doesn't like Barbara being around as Sean pulls Barbara away from the party and asks her to leave. When she doesn't leave, Erica pulls her away, reinforcing Sean's words! "You better get out of here fast before we start playing pin the tail on the floozy!" she says. Still, Barbara stays. Across the room, Zach wonders if he will be a good father and Myrtle gives him her vote of confidence. Erica sits with Myrtle, who tells her there is a way back to Jack and encourages her to find it! Meanwhile, Jack offers Kendall his congratulations. As Miranda opens the last present, Zoe says there is one more. She has written a song for Miranda and begins to sing to her! Jack says goodbye and Barbara asks if he'll take her home as well. Zach and Kendall also leave. Bianca and Zoe begin to clean up the party mess and Zoe reaches out to her. Binks thanks Zoe for the song and Zoe moves to leave. Bianca stops her, and the two move close together.
