Kendall and Zach watch over Ian from outside the NICU as the doctors check him over. Josh arrives and they update him on Ian's condition. Dr. Delano comes out, tells them Ian is making progress and turns to leave. Zach follows him. Josh stays behind with Kendall and they talk about Spike for a bit. Kendall asks Josh about Greenlee. Josh tells Kendall about taking Greenlee home. Kendall asks him point black about his relationship with Greens and he tells her the truth - that he is attracted to Greenlee but they haven't slept together. Kendall asks if things will move forward for them but Josh tells her no - not after what Greenlee did to endanger Spike, Ian and her. "As far as I'm concerned, Greenlee doesn't exist anymore," he says. Josh goes in to visit Ian. Kendall sits with him beside the NICU incubator as he talks about the Kane clan. "Love like theirs is the most powerful drug in the world," Josh says. He begins to sing to the boy, making Kendall laugh. Quickly her mood turns somber. She is so afraid that he won't come through but Josh encourages her, telling her that Ian is going to be fine. Josh holds her close.
Zach returns to Kendall and Josh, who suggests they get out of the hospital for a little bit. He promises to watch over Ian and reminds them Ryan and Annie will watch over Spike. Kendall refuses, afraid to leave Ian or Spike for a moment. She leaves to check on Spike when Josh keeps pushing. Zach follows her out and Josh stays behind with the baby. Zach catches up with Kendall in the hall and sees how torn she is over the two boys - she feels like she has to be in two places at once and it's killing her. "I'm not enough. I can't help my babies," she says, crying, as he holds her.
Hospital Drama
In the waiting room, Joe explains things to Erica. She worries that Ian won't survive. Jack walks in, talking to Derek on the phone. He learns about the crash but that Spike and Greenlee are alive, at least for now. Certain that Greenlee was involved in an accident while bringing Spike back to town, he tells Erica and Josh what he knows. Tad arrives and talks with Erica. She tells him that things don't look good for either of her grandsons. He hugs her reassuringly but Erica pulls back. "Kendall needs them both. They have to make it," she says. Josh walks up, asking if he can help but there is nothing he can do for her.
Zach watches Dr. Delano from the waiting area. Josh walks up beside him, asking how things are. Zach tells him the baby is really small and asks Josh what that means. "I don't understand it," Zach says. Josh tells him that the baby is a miracle. He leaves Zach and runs into Ryan, Annie and Jonathan in another waiting area. Unable to help them, Josh walks on. Moments later, Joe walks out from Spike's surgery room. He tells them Spike is stable but still in danger. "The next 24 hours are critical," Joe says and returns inside.
Josh returns to Zach, who is eager for news of Spike. Josh offers to check on Spike and report back so Zach doesn't have to leave the new baby. He returns to Ryan as Aidan walks up. Josh fills in the blanks that the doctors left, giving Ryan some hope because they didn't have to remove Spike's spleen. He tells them about the new baby. "He's tiny. He hardly even looks real," Josh tells them.
Ryan and Annie stand over Spike's crib as he sleeps. Zach returns to watch the new baby in the NICU. He sees Josh there and hugs him, thanking him for staying with the new baby without saying a word. Josh leaves to check on Kendall as the nurses prepare Zach to enter the NICU for the first time. Zach goes inside and sits with his son, overcome with emotions.
Ava Is Flying High!
Lily surprises Jack and Josh in the waiting area. She is armed with a lot of research on premies and pregnancies and reports what she has learned. The more she talks, about the new baby and about Spike's abduction, the more Jack and Josh worry. Erica returns to the group, telling them the contractions have stopped. Jack wraps her in a hug. Josh makes a joke about food. Erica leaves to call Bianca. Jack gets a call and leaves to answer it. It's Livia, reminding Jack that the divorce will be finalized by 5pm if he and Erica don't show up to contest it. He asks her to stall as long as possible. Jack hangs up and then tries Greenlee's phone again but doesn't get an answer. Alone, Lily asks Josh if Kendall will be okay now. Erica returns to them and is talking to Josh when the doctors go running into Kendall's room. Zach comes out, telling them that Kendall's water may have broken. Just then emergency workers wheel Ava in. She is screaming and still high, fighting the doctors. They wheel her into an exam room as Lily comes in, freaked out at how bad Ava is. Jonathan tells her Ava took drugs but Lily doesn't believe him. Jack and Erica walk Lily out of the waiting area so they can talk to her.
Erica and Josh wait outside Kendall's hospital room, hoping that the doctors will be able to stop the labor again.
Where Is Spike?
Jack and Erica are kissing all the way through the airport, both in their own world. She tells Jack she likes their illicit affair and isn't looking forward to getting back together for real. Pam walks in with Josh. He tells them about Kendall's labor and missing Spike, shocking Jack and Erica.
In the lobby, Babe is watching a television report about Kendall and Spike. Di and Annie arrive, worried that Greenlee has finally gone off the deep end. They ask about Kendall. Ryan walks in with Tad and Aidan. Annie runs to him, telling Ryan to be positive. Tad fills Di in on the police search and Aidan reassures Ryan. Zach and Joe come out to tell the gathering about Kendall. Zach asks them all to keep the news about Spike out of Kendall's room. Jonathan walks in, offering to help look for the baby. Aidan asks Annie and Di to come with him to the police station. Di goes but Annie stays with Ryan. Babe steps up, telling Ryan that Greenlee didn't want to drive with Spike. He explodes at her, angry that she let Greens take Spike. Babe apologizes. Ryan walks away. Jonathan and Annie follow him. Jamie comes over to support Babe. She asks him to come with her and they leave.
