In Kendall's room at Zach's offices, the bond between Annie and Kendall is broken. Kendall believes Annie is using Emma to get Ryan. Annie tries to explain that Emma isn't threatening Kendall, she only loves Spike and wants a stable family. Annie believes Emma sees both Ryan and Spike as the stability she wants. Kendall doesn't buy it. She believes Annie is using Emma to get to Ryan - and maybe take Spike away from her! Annie assures Kendall she isn't trying to take Spike or Ryan, and any bond between Ryan and Emma doesn't matter anyway. After all, he isn't Emma's father. Kendall hesitates, but agrees. Realizing that Kendall is agreeing with her, Annie asks her to back off. Whatever happens between she and Ryan is her business. Kendall chose Zach. Annie then accuses Kendall of using Spike to get to Ryan. That makes Kendall think. Maybe she is coming on too strong about Annie and Ryan, she's just too stressed out. Kendall leaves Annie to wait for Rachel and the children.
Meanwhile, down the hall from Zach's office, Kendall finds Spike with Annie. Before the other woman can leave, Kendall asks her to stay. How has Spike been? He looks like he's gained 10 pounds! Annie smiles, obviously caring a lot for the little boy. She pulls a small book from her bag. It's a journal she has made for Kendall, chronicling every day Spike has been away from his mom. Touched, Kendall isn't sure how to react. She doesn't want to break the connection they are building but she needs to know something. How does Annie explain their living situation to Emma? Annie is immediately on the defensive. "You want to know if Ryan and I are sleeping together?" she asks. Not exactly, Kendall only wants to know how Annie and Ryan explain their living situation. It's simple: they have separate bedrooms, no explanations are needed. A few minutes later, Emma arrives with a question for Kendall - can Spike be her new baby brother?
Jonathon knocks on Annie's door. He has an armload of firewood for her. She offers him coffee, but he refuses, saying he's on a mission. She notices he has an enormous amount of wood. He tells her that he took an axe to the woods around Wildwind. "Are you alright?", she asks. Jonathon comes inside and admits to Annie that since Erin died he's been experiencing fits of rage and that it is scary. "Because it reminds you of how you were when you had the tumor?", she asks. He says no, the rage was there before the tumor and the delusions.
At Annie's Jonathan is explaining that he never understood what Lily meant by seeing colors when she was angry until now - now he is seeing colors when he is in a rage. Annie assures him he's allowed to feel angry. She asks him some concerned questions - he tells her that talking to her helps. Just then, Ryan enters - Jonathan sees his face and asks "are you ok?" Ryan covers quickly, "I'm great," he says, "I just miss Spike is all." Ryan asks what's with all the wood. Jonathan tells him he "went crazy" in the woods. When Ryan asks if he's OK, Jon says he's fine and he's going to get back to Wildwind now. Once Jonathan has left, Annie asks Ryan what it is that he didn't want his brother to know. He fills her in about the attack on Dani, and that the suspect, Zarf, has fled. Sooner or later Jonathan will hear about it, Ryan muses. Yes, says Annie, but you knew he wasn't ready right now - it was a good thing you did. They embrace warmly.
When Ryan gets home, Annie tells him about Jon's angry outburst and reaction to Zarf's questioning and release. She shares that she's afraid that Jonathan might do something crazy, and urged Ryan to make sure Jon is OK.
In Zarf's Valley Inn room, Babe is comforting a tearful Zoë when Jon breaks in and wants to know who Zarf is. Did he murder his sister? Jon calls Zarf a "sick, psychotic pervert who probably killed my sister." They get into a fight. Josh and then Ryan burst in and saves the day. Babe's bodyguard comes in and urges her to leave, but she refuses. Josh also doesn't want to leave until he's certain Babe is OK.
Babe tells Ryan and Jon that Erin was her friend, and that she's absolutely certain that Zarf wouldn't hurt anyone. Ryan apologizes for Jon and assures them that he will not be bothering them again. Jon plans to go home, but Ryan insists Jon comes with him.
After they leave, Josh insists that Zoë tell him the truth. Is he transitioning from male to female? Bianca deserves answers—they all do! Zarf undresses in front of them, and asks Josh "what he sees?" He demands that Josh look at him, and says "there's no woman here. Every part of her is gone. I'm a man."
Josh tells Zarf to stay away from Bianca and Babe, and asks Babe to leave with him. She refuses, and tells Josh that though she's made many mistakes in her life, this is not one of them.
Zarf says there's nothing babe can do to help him. Babe tells Zach that she hopes to see Zoë again soon, and leaves. Josh is waiting outside the door, and when Babe leaves, grabs her and asks what she doing! He reiterates that the New Year's Eve kiss meant something, and that he's going to fight for her. He also urges her to stay away from Zarf, saying he doesn't trust him.
Babe tells Josh that she's is not interested in him and doesn't want to see him again.
Ryan brings Jon to Annie's, and Jon says he doesn't feel comfortable there. That's the exact reason he should be there, explains Ryan. Jon has to face the truth that Erin is gone. He hopes that Jon being there—among Erin's things—will help him heal. He tells Jon that the anger Jon feels is what worries him. Jon says the same is true for him. Ryan says they have to find a way to channel their anger—otherwise it'll destroy them. Don't give into the rage…that's not what Erin would want.
A visibly agitated Jon rushes into Annie's house, yelling about the murderer being set free. Annie isn't convinced that Zarf is a killer, but Jon is certain. She begs him not to get involved, but he says there's "not a chance" he'll stay away from this, and rushes off.
When Ryan gets home, Annie tells him about the Zarf arrest and Jon's reaction. They're both worried about what Jon mght do.
Jon, Ryan, Annie and Emma are spending a quiet New Year's Eve at home. Annie serves "New Year's fritters" that bring love and good fortune in 2007. Everyone is happy with the fortunes they receive, except for a sad Jonathan, who chooses a fritter without a token. The emptiness of the fritter reminds him of the current emptiness of his life, and he leaves the gathering.
Jon returns to conFusion to work. Amanda is surprised to see him until he tells her how hard this holiday has been for him.
Ryan feels guilty about bringing Jon to the party, and lets Annie know. He then shares about Tad's investigations of Zach's past and its connection to the Fusion murders. He explains about Tad's worries about Spike, and Annie offers to take care of Spike in her home. Ryan says that's just what he wants, and they agree that nothing is more important than protecting their kids.
Ryan, Kendall and Spike have a New Year's picnic. While Ryan is away, Kendall and Annie discuss her relationship with Ryan. Annie says that even though she looks like Greenlee, she is here, and Greenlee is long gone. She says she will be here for Ryan, since he's given so much to her.
Kendall, Ryan, Zach and Spike are together on Christmas Eve, playing with the model train Zach set up. Ryan has brought along a gift for Spike that Erin bought and wrapped prior to her murder. It's a t-shirt that says "Lucky." Ryan leaves, saying he's going to spend Christmas Eve with Jon, who's just arrived.
On the porch, they run into Annie and Emma, and decide to accompany them to church. As the brothers stand and listen to the congregation sign hymns, Emma comes up and hugs both.
The two lost women of Fusion "fought like warriors" for the people they loved, says Kendall in her eulogy.
Jon tries to pay tribute to Erin, but is too broken up to continue with his eulogy for his sister.
The remaining Fusion women place roses on the coffins and hold hands, surrounding their lost friends.
After the service, Tad and Aidan ask Derek to let them help him find what appears to be a serial killer. He tells them to "stay out of his way"—and keep an eye on their loved ones.
Tad declines to go to the post-funeral reception, and stays to keep vigil at the cemetery. Brooke tells Dixie that Tad's gone off to a place where they can't reach him. What can they do?
Zach tells Kendall he'll be late getting to Fusion. He's going to look for answers. Tad is alone at the cemetery, except for Zach, who approaches and says he wants to hire Tad. Tad is surprised and asks who Zach wants investigated. "Me," Zach replies.
Does this have anything to do with the murders, asks Tad? Zach says there's a message in it—a message to him. He gives Tad a packet of information that he claims is "everything about him" and to do whatever he need to do to find answers. But what does this have to do with Zach, asks Tad? "Gardenia…and a single white ribbon."
