All The Angst In The World

Monday, August 13 2007

On another floor, Annie watches the nurses working on Ian. She blows him a kiss, promising that Zach and Kendall will be there soon. The nurse comes out and Annie asks how he is; the woman calls him a miracle boy and sets Annie's mind at ease. Annie returns to Spike's room and meets Zach at the window.

The Wait is Over

Friday, August 10 2007

Annie visits Kendall in Spike's room and offers to help her with him. Annie leaves. A nurse comes in and asks Kendall to let her take Spike so that Kendall can consult with Joe. In the hall, Jack visits with coffee for Ryan and Zach. He asks about Erica and learns that she left a while before. Annie returns to the guys. Joe tells them they are nearly ready for Spike's exam and assures her that the baby will sleep through the tests. Kendall returns to Spike and watching her, Zach is overcome with emotion. In his mind he is pacing the halls, remembering all the ways he wronged Ethan and the way he failed Kendall - by not getting rid of Greenlee in the beginning. "End the curse," he tells himself, but he has no idea how to do that. The nurse returns, bringing Zach back to the present, and taking Spike away. Kendall follows them part way down the hall, wondering how she can fix things for Spike. She begins to freak out, yelling for Zach to take her and the boys away from there. Zach goes to Kendall and brings her back to the present. Ryan signs a few consent forms, thinking about Greenlee and how different she was from the moment she came back. In his mind, he is confronting her and asking for answers. He doesn't get any but swears that he will get a confession from her. Standing alone, Annie wonders how anyone could not love Spike. She talks to herself, remembering the early days of being together with Ryan. "I don't belong with them and I'm afraid they're going to find out," she says, afraid that once they learn her secret Ryan, Kendall and the others will turn on her the way they turned on Greenlee! Josh arrives, bringing the entire crew coffee and asking for an update on Spike. Annie tries to distract Ryan, reminding him of the card tricks he taught her. Ryan leaves to get something more to drink.

Joe returns to the group, telling them that Spike came through the MRI with flying colors but asking them not to visit him for a while yet. They want him to come fully out of the anesthesia before then. Annie and Kendall hug at the good news. Down the hall Ryan swears he will get Greenlee to admit what she has done - not because it will change things but because he wants to know! Jonathan arrives and gives Annie a photo album from the house. As she looks through the pictures Annie swears to never let them down the way her family let her down. Jonathan suggests a card game to take their minds off things but Jack declines. He begins to pace the halls, struggling with his feelings for Greenlee, his love for Erica and Kendall. He has no idea where to turn. Kendall returns from Spike's room. She draws a blanket from the bed and a three-heart bracelet falls out. "Nooooo," she cries and falls to the floor in grief.

The card game doesn't last long as no one can concentrate on anything other than Spike's future. All of them realize they are afraid - for Spike and for themselves. Joe returns.

Sounds Like Good News!

Thursday, August 09 2007

Annie enters Spike’s room with a doctor. Ryan introduces the doc as Dr. Norton, a specialist for Spike. Dr. Norton tells Kendall that getting a definitive diagnosis on Spike won’t be easy because they don’t have the necessary tools at PVH. He says the equipment they need are in Dallas. Kendall jumps right on board, saying they can fly to Dallas, but Ryan is apprehensive, since Spike’s still recovering from major surgery. Kendall’s feathers get ruffled, which just gets worse as Dr. Norton agrees with Ryan, saying that taking Spike on an airplane could make his hearing loss permanent. He tells Kendall to be patient for a little while. Kendall goes unglued. “I’m so sick of everyone telling me to calm down,” she says, crying. “I will calm down when my son can hear my voice again!”

Back in Spike’s room Kendall is ticked off at Ryan, tearful, and trying to come up with options of how they can get Spike to Dallas. Ryan isn’t buying. Annie tells Ryan to go get some coffee, leaving Kendall and Annie alone. Kendall bitterly tells Annie she doesn’t need company or a cheerleader, but Annie hangs in there. Kendall ends up pouring her heart out to Annie, wondering what Spike must be thinking, having been able to hear one day and not the next. Annie warns Kendall not to make Ryan the enemy and talks Kendall down.

Meanwhile, outside the hospital, the guys are busy. Zach is on the phone bullying someone who “owes” him. Ryan is grilling Dr. Norton on how risky it is to get Spike to Dallas. Zach tells Ryan that it’s no longer an issue – he’s called in some favors and the equipment they need is coming to PVH! Kendall and Annie join the guys out in the waiting area and Zach springs it on Kendall that the equipment is on the way. They all congregate back in Spike’s room – everyone happy and loving, Kendall smiling once again and assuring Spike that everything will be okay.

Next on All My Children:

Aidan takes Greenlee back to the scene of the accident.

Annie is acting strangely and Ryan is confused.

Kendall is hysterical, locked in somewhere and she can't get out!

Moving Day!

Tuesday, August 07 2007

Ryan and Kendall can't believe what they are hearing. Neither understands how the doctors didn't realize sooner that Spike was deaf. Erica arrives and asks Joe to call in specialists. "My son will not be deaf. I won't accept that," Kendall says. Annie begins to question Joe, using doctor's terms and surprising everyone in the room. She explains that she knew someone once who was permanently deaf. A nurse comes along and asks Zach to come to the NICU. Erica waits with Kendall, promising that they will find the best doctors and they will fix Spike. She goes outside with Joe, asking how Greenlee managed to get into Spike's room again. Joe tells her to concentrate on Spike, not the other drama. Erica returns inside and overhears Kendall begging Spike for some kind of reaction. She leaves to call Jack but can't get through and returns to Kendall. Erica tries to get Kendall to return to her room but she won't go.

Meanwhile, Annie promises Ryan things will be okay but Ryan isn't so sure. He doesn't know how he can keep Spike safe or help him live a great life if Spike can't hear. Annie listens to him, on the verge of tears, and tells him that she knows Spike can have a wonderful life. Ryan asks her who from her past was deaf but Annie clams up. He hugs her and then returns to Spike. Annie goes down the hall and makes a phone call, asking someone for help.
