Annie looks at the wedding ring Zach tosses on the table and swears it isn't hers. He just watches her. She backtracks and says she lost her ring. Zach says he found it at a pawn shop, that the owner described her perfectly and asks why she lied about losing the ring to Kendall. He suggests she pawned the ring to pay off Richie and asks why. Annie says he doesn't know what he is talking about. Zach asks what she is hiding. Annie begs Zach to let things lie. She says Ryan has recovered his memories, Richie is gone and they can all move on now. Zach won't let this slide; he asks if she used the money from her ring to pay off Richie and she admits that she did! She says she couldn't face Richie going back to prison because of the things he told her happened in the past. She says Richie began blackmailing her at that point. "I just wanted it over," she says and cries. She says when she wouldn't give Richie more money they argued and he hit her. She begs him not to tell Ryan because she isn't sure he could forgive her. Zach comforts her for a minute - and then asks what really happened! She turns to go but Zach keeps peppering her with questions. She hears Richie voice, taunting her to tell him everything - and then she collapses!
Annie arrives home. Ryan tells her about rescuing Greenlee and recovering his memories. She is very excited and believes this is a very good sign. Ryan doesn’t tell her that he is now in love with Greenlee. She realizes he is holding back and asks what is going on. He thinks about Greenlee but can’t tell her because Emma comes downstairs. She says she just saw Richie on television. Annie and Ryan explain that Richie is in heaven with her kitten Mittens. When Emma goes back upstairs, Annie wonders if they should have lied about Richie. Ryan says it won’t hurt anything. Annie says she isn’t feeling well and when Ryan holds her, says everything will be okay now. She kisses him. Zach calls and tells her to meet him at Cambias in 20 minutes! Annie makes an excuse to Ryan about work. She asks him to get Emma to camp and leaves.
Annie arrives at Zach’s office. She asks what is going on and he asks about her wedding ring!
Jesse finds Annie at the morgue and asks why Richie was cremated. She says it was her father’s decision and shows him a note. Annie says she doesn’t know why Walter wanted the cremation and then totally overreacts when Jesse says he still has questions. She says she doesn’t know anything more than what he was already told. Jesse tells her to tell him again. Annie keeps digging the hole deeper when she angrily asks Jesse why he needs to hear her story again. She backtracks when she sees how suspicious he is and says she is just worried for their father’s sake. She leaves but in the hall hears Richie’s voice say she won’t get away with this!
Annie asks Kendall how she knows Zach is innocent, saying Zach has kept secrets before. Kendall can't believe what she is hearing. She wonders why Annie is against her all of a sudden. Annie insists she didn't tell Jesse anything he didn't already know or suspect. Kendall says it doesn't matter who killed Richie because he was horrible; she doesn't understand why Annie is trying to find someone to blame. She storms out. Annie starts crying. The hospital calls about Richie’s body and Annie leaves the office.
Annie arrives at the morgue and a technician hands her Richie’s ashes!
Jesse tells Annie they need to talk; Kendall asks if she can handle it. Annie says she can so Kendall leaves. Annie is very defensive which makes Jesse wonder about her. She digs through her purse to find her movie ticket stub and an early pregnancy test falls out! She is even more nervous but finally finds the ticket stub. She even tells Jesse the plot of the movie. Annie tells him that the night at the Pine Cone, she never really talked to Richie. When he keeps pressing her, she says Richie did tell her that Zach beat him up in the jail. She doesn’t want to say more but Jesse keeps pushing her. “Zach threatened to kill him,” Annie says as Kendall walks back in the room! She says Zach didn’t do anything wrong and that Annie is confused and that Richie was a liar. Jesse isn’t so sure.
Zach arrives and Jesse says he has no choice but to arrest him. Kendall tries to stop him but Zach insists he’ll be fine. Jesse leads him away. Kendall turns back to Annie and demands to know why she pointed the finger at Zach! Annie says she didn’t implicate Zach, she only said what Richie told her. Kendall doesn’t see the difference. Annie says she had no choice because Jesse wouldn’t leave her alone. Kendall says she should have kept quiet. “Zach protected you!” Kendall exclaims, wondering if Annie is protecting herself!
Babe comes to Fusion but Annie is the only one at work. They commiserate over Richie and both agree that neither of them is to blame. Annie is still shaky but Babe believes she is just upset over Richie's death; she asks about Walter and Annie says he is crushed. Annie sits down and Babe tells her about moving back to the mansion. Then, she says Annie can talk to her any time.
At home, Frankie rages a little about Fletcher being released from jail. He says the man should be locked up for good and won't listen when Jesse and Angie tell him to let things play out. Angie finishes up breakfast preparations at the apartment as she and Jesse talk about the Novak case. Jesse questions her about the cause of death and wonders what caused the blunt force trauma. After breakfast, Jesse works in his home office. He has Richie's cell phone records and calls the last number Richie called - it's Annie! She asks what he wants and he explains. He asks about the last time Richie called her and realizes that he called Annie before and after the movie she supposedly saw - and also just after Richie hit her in the head at the motel! He says they need to talk.
