Zach and Kendall arrive at the casino, both are nervous about the night ahead but are ready to get started. Zach remembers the night his mother died - she seemed happy. Zach takes Kendall in his arms. He can't lose her! Ryan and Josh arrive at the same time. Josh is angry and Kendall leads him from the balcony to explain her reasons for the party. Still on the balcony, Ryan shows Zach the note from the killer. The Satin Slayer is watching them. All of the time! Is Zach ready for whatever happens tonight? Anxious, Zach asks Ryan for a favor. Can he help keep Kendall safe? Of course. Meanwhile, inside the ballroom, Kendall tells Josh to get on board or leave. She has to do this. Palmer and Opal arrive as Zach and Ryan come back inside, telling the growing crowd the real reason for the party. "Let me at the bastard," Palmer exclaims! One of the first guests to arrive is Kenny Adler. Could they be looking at the killer, Kendall and Zach wonder? A reporter comes to the door and asks Kendall why she is throwing a party. Kendall hands the reporter off to Opal to talk about Dixie. Inside the ballroom, Babe and JR seem to come to an understanding. Josh comes over, angry that JR allowed Babe to come. Jamie, JR and Babe tell Josh to leave. From across the courtyard, someone is watching the goings on. Jonathan and Amanda see Kenny and decide to keep an eye on him. Kendall gets Ryan alone, asking him why he is at the party when he is obviously still angry with her. Why isn't he with Annie and Emma? Because he cares about her, Ryan says, he is there to protect her. Kendall tells Ryan about Annie's visit to Fusion. She believes Annie is already trying to drive a wedge between them. Can he prove that Emma won't cost Spike anything? Without waiting for his answer, Kendall moves off into the crowd.
Left alone in a corner, Babe watches the party. Someone sneaks up on her and drags her out the door! It's Josh. He has kidnapped Babe to keep her safe! Through a French door, JR sees them and he and Jamie follow. In an enclosed porch, Josh tries to convince Babe that JR is setting her up; he wants her dead! Babe disagrees; JR has changed. He isn't the same old JR since his mother died. He is her life, her future. Things between she and Josh are over and he needs to back off! Josh is hurt, but tells Babe he won't stand in her way. Before he leaves, Josh asks Babe for a favor - take little Adam and JR and leave town! Babe tells Josh goodbye and they exchange a goodbye kiss, unaware that JR and Jamie are watching.
Upstairs in Dixie's old room, JR wants answers from Babe. What is he supposed to do about Dixie's revelation? Babe tells him to keep quiet; she begs him to keep the secret. Dixie wanted to believe what David said about Krystle's baby, she says, trying to convince JR that Dixie was wrong. JR doesn't care about her explanations and brings up Colby: his half-sister told him about Babe and Josh and she also knew there was a secret about Tad. Was she lying? If Tad isn't the father of Krystle's baby then what was the secret? Babe breaks down and tells JR that Dixie saw Tad and Krystle together. It was only one night, right after the earthquake. There was no threat to Adam. JR doesn't buy it - Krystle is 7 months pregnant; the baby has to be Tad's! He demands the truth from Babe: Is Krystle's baby Tad's? Reluctantly, Babe admits, yes! Tad walks in. He is obviously still in shock and picks up the picture of Dixie and JR, then begins scanning the room for more listening devices. He doesn't find anything and leaves JR and Babe alone. Babe thanks JR for keeping the secret; angry, JR tells her he didn't tell Tad because he doesn't know what to do. How does he choose between Tad's needs and Adam's? How can he not complete his mother's dying wish? Tad will be the baby's god-father, he'll be in the baby's life, he doesn't need to know the whole truth Babe says. Does JR want Adam and Tad to be at war? That won't help Tad get over Dixie's death. With tears in her eyes, Babe begs JR to think before he acts. She leaves JR alone in Dixie's room. With a heavy heart, JR hears Dixie ask him to tell Tad about the baby.
At the Chandler mansion, Babe wakes to find JR by her side. He looks lost and alone; she kisses his hand and tells him she is sorry. "I'm the reason your mother is dead," she tells him. The V-Tach was in the pancakes Winifred made for her. Expecting JR to be angry, Babe is stunned when he stands up - and takes her in his arms! JR tells Babe that he will grieve for Dixie for the rest of his life, but he can't blame her, and he can't be angry with her. She gave him a reason to live the night before. Adam sees their embrace and angrily confronts JR. He believes it is Babe's fault that Dixie is dead! How can JR forgive that? JR tells Adam to back off; when Babe moves to leave, JR holds her back. He'll take care of this! With a final kiss, Babe leaves the room. Upstairs, Krystle is comforting Di in Dixie's old room. Di wants to take back what she did - replacing Dixie in her own life - and now Dixie will never know how much she regrets it. Babe comes in, needing comfort from her mother. She was afraid to leave JR alone the night before, afraid he would hit the bottle. Waking up with him was nice, but she isn't sure she continue to help him. Krystle bolsters Babe's confidence, telling her she can help JR. She should just go to him, be with him. That is what he needs right now. Back downstairs, JR tearfully tells Adam to "leave my wife alone". He pulled through the night before - without turning to alcohol - because of Babe. Dixie would want him to make the marriage work. Adam disagrees; Dixie would want JR to be happy and Babe's choices will only hurt him. Angry, JR turns on him; he isn't like Adam. Why can't his father understand that he can't turn from his family now? Adam declares that if Krystle had an affair he would turn her away! Tad arrives, diffusing the situation. He tells JR he will always be there for him. JR asks Adam to leave them alone.
Outside the study, Adam is heartbroken that JR has chosen to talk to Tad instead of him. Krystle comforts him, telling Adam he has a relationship with JR that Tad will never have. Meanwhile inside the study, JR tells Tad that Babe helped him make it through the night. How will Tad make it through this, without anyone? He'll get through because of his children, Tad tells JR. He advises JR to go to Babe; to not waste any more time away from her. JR wants to stay with Tad, but Tad pushes him to go to Babe. The two men embrace; Adam and Krystle enter the room as JR heads upstairs.
Tad takes an electronic device from his pocket and begins scanning the room. He finds a bug attached to the mantle, but Adam freaks out before Tad can get him to stay quiet. Now the killer knows they've found the bug! Krystle is stunned by the find. She is responsible, she was standing right there when she told Wini to make the pancakes. She believes Dixie's death is her fault!
At the hospital, Jeff and Joe pull Tad back from Dixie as the monitors flatline. Jamie and JR burst into the room. As the crowd is pushed out by a nurse, JR assures Tad that Dixie will pull through. JR can't forget what Dixie told him; Tad continues to hear Dixie tell him "Together". Opal, Di and Dell are anxious for news, but no one can give them progress reports. In the background, Tad remembers the good times with Dixie and JR recalls the Christmas pageant and Dixie helping him through his solo. Jamie recalls bringing a frog home and losing it. Inside the hospital room, Joe realizes he may not be able to save Dixie and remembers advising her against another pregnancy. Tad flashes back to their weddings.
At the Chandler mansion, Babe is in shock. Adam goes on the attack, telling her everything that has happened is her fault. Jack interrupts the fight, telling Adam to go to the hospital. His family needs him. Derek and Jack begin questioning Zarf and Babe erupts in anger. Those were her pancakes, if anyone is to blame, it is her not Zoe. In tears, Babe asks to go to the hospital to see JR. She and a bodyguard leave.
As Babe arrives in the waiting room to comfort JR, Dr. Joe Martin comes outside. "We lost her," he says. Without saying a word, Tad leaves the crowd. Joe keeps Jamie from following his father and Babe comforts JR. Angry, he demands that Joe go back inside and fix Dixie. Finally realizing his mother is gone, JR asks to see Dixie. Babe wheels him inside. Jamie follows with Adam and Opal. Dixie singing "You Are My Sunshine" fills the room. Those closest to Dixie say their goodbyes, but Jamie can't. He stays in the back of the room, crying. Di leaves the room, angry that they couldn't catch the killer before he got to Dixie. Aidan takes her in his arms and holds her while she cries. As JR takes Dixie's hand, she appears and her spirit squeezes his shoulder, then moves to Jamie. Her spirit can't find Tad in the hospital. Babe brings JR his mother's bracelet and, crying, he puts it on Dixie's wrist. "I love you, Mama," he says.
Next time on All My Children:
Babe tells JR that Dixie's death is her fault; Kendall asks Zach to let her be the bait to lure the killer. Annie thinks she and Emma should move out!
At the Chandler mansion, Dixie tries to convince Babe it's only her heart, but as Babe tells Krystle and JR to call 9-1-1, Dixie collapses! JR falls to the floor, begging Dixie to stay with him. With Babe's help, he begins CPR when Dixie stops breathing. As Krystle calls 9-1-1, Zarf comes in, he found a box of gardenias outside the house, shocking Adam! JR and Babe see the flowers and immediately begin to panic; hearing the ambulance, Babe goes to bring in the EMT's. JR begs Dixie not to leave, to stay with him. Dixie wakes for a moment, saying, "Give Tad his child." She tells JR that Krystle's baby is Tad's! JR can't believe what he is hearing. Dixie passes out again as the EMT's arrive to take her to the hospital. Adam asks Babe to stay to help the police. Zarf offers to go to the hospital and Adam explodes!
Meanwhile at the police station, Zach wants to take Kendall and leave, but Tad and Jack continue questioning him. Has he come up with a connection? Jack tells the crowd the only thing Kenny has done since being released is go to the supermarket and Derek tells them Zarf is still his prime suspect. Josh comes in, demanding Zach be arrested because of the love letters. Zach explains the only thing he knows about the love letters is that they were written by a man named Raymond. Angry that they are questioning Zach, who is as a much a victim as anyone else, Kendall says she is tired of hiding. If the killer wants her, she's right here! Josh takes Kendall for a walk to calm her down. Jack and Derek discuss the suspect list and Zach takes Tad aside, telling him that under the influence he told Josh about Greg's death. Everyone comes to attention when Derek takes a call from Adam - he orders officers to the Chandler mansion immediately. Josh streaks out before Derek can tell him the attack wasn't on Babe. It was Dixie!
At the hospital, Tad and Jamie arrive as Dixie is brought in. As Dr. Joe and Dr. Jeff Martin begin working on Dixie, Tad and Jamie are left outside the ER room with Krystle and JR. Krystle leads Jamie away to notify friends and family. A broken up JR almost tells Tad Dixie's secret. JR and Tad are inconsolable; Opal, Di and Dell arrive, talking to Jamie. Jamie comforts Opal, who can't find Palmer. Unable to wait outside, Tad bursts in to the hospital room. He begs Dixie to hold on, to fight. Dixie opens her eyes! Tad is relieved that Dixie is awake and calls her his dream come true. Dixie takes the oxygen mask from her face and says "Together". The monitors begin to flatline.
