At home, Jack stares at a photo of him with Erica. He leaves and meets Aidan at the PI office. Aidan goes into a long spiel about his new job, his finances and then asks for Jack's blessing on the engagement! Jack shakes his hand, welcoming him to the family. He warns Aidan not to hurt Greenlee.
Jack arrives at the prison to see Erica. She asks how things are going and he says she is in for a long haul. The guard brings in Carmen; she tells him about her past. Jack agrees to help her. The guard returns. Jack doesn't want to leave but Erica says she'll be fine. They touch hands through the wire and then Jack leaves. Erica catches up with Carmen in the hall. When they get back to the holding area, another inmate asks for Erica's autograph. Carmen says this is how she knows they won't be friends forever - because Erica is on a different level than she will be. Erica says she isn't going to give up on freeing Carmen. She doesn't believe Erica. The guard returns and takes Erica back to the meeting room. Kendall is there and is once again in panic mode. Erica says if Kendall doesn't stop freaking out she'll go back to her cell and not come out for six months!
Louisa and Mondo see the smoke from Erica's tape recorder. Louisa grabs it out of Erica's bra and throws it to the floor; she tells Mondo they need to kill Carmen and Erica! They begin messing up Louisa's apartment to make it look like there was a struggle. Erica tries convincing them that the tape recorder was only for show purposes. Carmen turns to Mondo and tries to romance the gun away from him. He weakens and she slugs him! Erica jumps on Louisa to keep her from shooting Carmen. Just then Jack and Zach burst through the door with several Chicago cops! Erica tells the cops to listen to the tape but it is destroyed. Carmen tries to get Mondo to tell the truth but he won't even admit he knows her. Erica turns to Jack and asks how they can help Carmen put Mondo and Louisa in jail. As they talk, Zach realizes that a computer in the home has another person's name on it. He gives it to the police who agree to investigate them for burglary. Zach brings up the guns and Mondo's parole. Mondo is going back in the clink! After the cops lead Mondo and Louisa away Erica thanks Jack for rescuing her. He tells her to stop taking so many chances. She kisses him and then leaves with the other officers and Carmen. Carmen turns to Erica and says she wants the kind of love that Erica has with Jack!
Zach calls Kendall and tells her they found Erica. Kendall is very relieved. Zach returns to Jack, who assures him that Erica will be okay now.
Jack and Zach are flying to Chicago to find Erica. Zach's contact traced Erica's call to the discount store; he reminds Jack that Erica said she had a plan. Jack believes this is bad news. They arrive at the store and security allows them to look at the surveillance tapes. They realize that Erica was dead serious when she said she was giving Carmen a make-over. They watch as Erica takes a tape recorder and apparently gives Carmen flirting lessons. They believe Erica and Carmen are going after Mondo! Jack calls Derek; he reports that the police guards were taken off Mondo's mother's apartment a few days before.
Samuel and Jack meet at the police department and begin arguing. Zach listens to them as Jack tells Sam that they need to be doing more for Erica. He asks about Carmen's past and Samuel tells him about Mondo. Sam believes Carmen is trying to reunite with Mondo - or his family - in Chicago. Samuel makes a few more calls but doesn't learn anything new. Jack keeps raging at Sam until Zach steps in and tells him to calm down. Carl calls but Samuel won't talk to him. The call sets Jack off again. Samuel adds a few more pictures and a little more information to the search board. Zach tries to get Jack to come with him for some air but Jack won't leave. An officer comes in, telling Samuel that Carl has set up an interview with WRCW but Sam refuses it. Jack wonders why Samuel isn't already preening in front of the cameras. Sam says he is trying to find Erica. Jack angrily says if anything happens to Erica, he'll make sure Samuel is ruined. Sam turns back to the board, wondering where Erica could be.
On the way to the airport, Jack and Greenlee talk about Erica. He doesn't want to listen to Greenlee's anger at Erica so he asks what is going on between Greens and Ryan! She says she isn't obsessed with Ryan and doesn't even care about Ryan but Jack doesn't believe her. She keeps rambling about her attachment to Ryan, which only solidifies Jack's concern. She turns back to their prison trip and asks why he is so concerned about Erica. "She's a part of me," Jack says. Greenlee says prison will be a breeze for Erica but Jack isn't so sure. He asks if prison was easy for her! Greenlee doesn't answer. They arrive at the airport and Greenlee tells Jack that Erica will be fine in prison.
Jack visits Erica's jail cell, telling her that she will be transferred to the prison that night. The closer she comes to the transfer the more upset Erica becomes. As Jack leaves, her new cell mate is brought in - it's Carmen from the courthouse! Carmen is stunned; she is Erica's self-proclaimed biggest fan. Erica is a little taken aback by Carmen's effusiveness. Carmen tells Erica about her own arrest - her boyfriend robbed a bank and left her with the car. She was arrested with the boyfriend and now has a 10 year sentence. Erica asks about the boyfriend and Carmen admits she loves him. Carmen tells Erica that she is going to bust out of prison and get back at her man - and Erica is going to help her!
Sam is meeting with his campaign manager at the Valley Inn. Over dinner, Carl tells Samuel that he needs to keep the pressure on Erica and keep his own name in the headlines. Samuel says he isn't going to keep using Erica to further his career and Carl gives in. Jack walks in. He and Samuel have a drink at the bar, exchanging barbs about Erica's incarceration. Jack finishes his drink and leaves for the penitentiary to meet Erica.
When the judge asks if Erica is sure she wants to start her sentence now, Josh and Kendall freak out. They try convincing Erica to wait the three weeks but she won't. Kendall stomps over to Samuel and confronts him about how much of a menace Erica is. Zach and Josh calm Kendall down. Meanwhile, Jack says he is surprised at her request but isn't angry. The judge adjourns court and the reporters rush in to question Erica. Greenlee and Aidan, in the back of the courtroom, argue about the effect Erica is having on Jack this time around. Greenlee hopes Jack can finally move on with Erica out of the picture. She walks out. Aidan and Zach talk about Erica's decision. The reporters turn to Jack, who tells them to ask Samuel about Erica's prosecution. Sam is happy to step forward and give his nobody-is-against-the-law-schpeil. Kendall talks to Erica, who tells her to focus on Zach and the boys and forget about Aidan and Ryan and any other men. Erica advises Kendall to tell Zach the whole truth about LA but Kendall doesn't want to. She leaves. Greenlee approaches Jack and asks what Erica is really up to. Jack doesn't know. "Why is everyone treating her like she's Mother Theresa?" Greenlee asks. Jack says she shouldn't be so hard on Erica. Erica walks up to Samuel and claps her hands. She asks when his official campaign announcement will be but Sam won't comment. Jack backs up Sam, telling Erica that he really fought for her in the judge's chambers. Erica is stunned. "I hope we meet again," Samuel says charmingly and then leaves. Greenlee is curious about the prosecutor.
