Christmas Miracle?

Jake knocks at the door of Wildwind. David answers and Jake holds out a plant. David asks how long before it explodes. Jake apologizes for his behavior the previous day. Amanda comes downstairs, and David gives a little speech about the things he's done, admitting that he manipulated the situation in the car with Amanda - he now realizes that this disease is his punishment and he deserves to die a painful death! Amanda says she suggested David take a leave from the hospital. Jake offers to pick up extra shifts. Amanda suggests David go lie down. Amanda thanks Jake for being nicer. Jake says he's okay with Amanda helping David to make amends. Jake leaves, and David and Amanda discuss him being the best person he can be from here on out!

I'm a Mess!

David, at Wildwind, tells Amanda that he knows exactly what she and Jake are up to! He says that he knows they're overjoyed that he's going to die - Jake's probably already planning a party. He tells Amanda that he's going to lie down! Amanda checks her phone and hears Jake's message that he wants to be together and will meet her at the stables. She rushes out the door. David appears on the stairs - he heard. He comes downstairs with Trevor and injects himself with something to make himself seem sick, telling the baby he doesn't want mommy to get suspicious!

In the Wildwind stables, Amanda and Jake meet up and she apologizes for everything. He says he'd like to put it all behind them. They agree that with David being out of the picture it will be much easier. Jake mentions that Angie confirmed it, explaining that he had to be sure. Amanda wonders if Jake would want her back if David weren't dying - if that's the only reason, then David is still controlling them! Jake insists he came because he loves her. Amanda asks where they stand. Jake says close to getting everything they want thanks to karma. Amanda tells Jake about David saying goodbye to Trevor on DVD. Jake thinks it was manipulative of him to ask her to film it. Amanda's phone rings - it's David - he doesn't have the strength to go back upstairs and Trevor's crying. Amanda rushes off and Jake follows.

Amanda and Jake come into Wildwind to find David sweating on the sofa - he says it's a side effect of the drugs. Amanda goes to check on Trevor and Jake approaches David, who says he doesn't want his help. Jake roots through David's medical bag looking for something to bring his heart rate down. David tells Jake not to ever bad mouth him to Trevor - that's all he asks. Jake comments that he may have Amanda fooled into feeling sorry for him, but he doesn't - he will enjoy watching him suffer a little more each day!

Happy Families.

Jake goes to Wildwind and steals one of David's prescriptions out of the cabinet. Amanda appears and asks what he's doing there? Jake brings up David's supposed condition, saying that if it's real, he really does only have six months to live. Jake feels it could easily be a ruse to spend more time with her and the baby. Amanda says she's seen him taking his experimental drugs. Amanda tells Jake they'll be together soon - unless he can't forgive her for what she did with David. She says she'll make it up to him - she asks Jake to give her some hope. Jake says he's going to go, he doesn't want to deal with David.

David is with Trevor upstairs at Wildwind. He tells the baby about his plans to win his mother over, and how he'll fight for her. He goes downstairs, where Amanda asks how he's feeling. Amanda tells him Jake was there. David wonders if he came to gloat and celebrate. Amanda says she'll go make breakfast. David rushes over to the cabinet and sees that the prescription is missing. He grins. Amanda comes back in the room and asks what he wants to eat. David tells her this is why he didn't want to tell her. He asks her to stop coddling him when she doesn't really care that he's going to die. He tells her that his father died when he was young - he wanted to give his son what he'd been denied, a real family. David comments that he can't seem to engineer the love part of it, and now he'll be doing to Trevor just what his father did to him. Amanda pulls out a video of Trevor and they watch it while David laments all the moments of his son's life that he'll miss. Amanda urges David to make Trevor a video for the future. Amanda sets up the camera, and David asks her to stay. He makes the tape, being sure to tell Trevor about how he hurt his mother in his quest to be a part of his life. Amanda realizes that David is burning up. He says he'll deal with whatever the drugs and disease throw at him. She gives him a hug.

Six Months!

As David and Amanda are fighting about Jake at Wildwind, Tad shows up. He tells her they've got bigger things to worry about right now - Jake's leaving town! David and Tad bicker, then Tad asks Amanda to try to find Jake and talk to him. He leaves, and David tells Amanda that this must be difficult for her. Amanda shouts that she's done with him and his house - she's leaving now, and Trevor is coming with her! David gets defensive and says she should be thanking him! Amanda won't thank him for keeping her prisoner, and heads for the door. David blurts, "Six months!" She turns, and he explains that's how much longer he has to live! Amanda accuses him of lying - why would he be trying to have another child? David says he was doing it for Trevor, but also because his children were to be his legacy. She asks what is wrong with him. David says he has a rare blood disorder and is taking illegal drugs. Amanda is still skeptical, but David uses medical jargon to convince her. Amanda says she has to go tell Jake! After she's gone, David tells Trevor that he's perfectly healthy, saying he's not going anywhere - and neither is Amanda!

Jake returns to his house and tells Tad he got to thinking about Trevor, and how he didn't want to leave the little guy with David - he loves him. He says he's decided to stick around. Amanda appears in the doorway and says, "You have no idea how happy that makes me." Tad leaves them alone. Amanda tells Jake that everything has changed - David is dying!

Just Rebooting!

At the hospital, Jake tells Amanda he can't rip his heart out anymore over her, and he won't raise David Hayward's child. Amanda feels that he's just hurt. She tells him he's so much more a father to Trevor than David! Jake says if their original plan had worked it might be different - but this all hurts too much. He tells Amanda that the more he fights for her, the closer to David she gets! Amanda protests, but Jake walks away from her. He approaches Angie and tells her to cancel all his shifts - he's quitting! Amanda and Angie both confront him, but Jake is clearly agitated and walks away from them both. Angie tells Amanda she'll talk sense into him, and strides up to Jake, telling him she won't accept his resignation or that he's leaving Amanda! Jake says it's not her decision. Angie reminds him of his wedding vows - he counters that Amanda broke them. Jake informs her he's in survival mode and leaves.

There's Proof!

Amanda and David are at Wildwind. David tells her there may be something that he can do to make her feel better about all of this - he says he found something out. Trevor cries and Amanda goes to him. Suddenly she shouts at David that something is wrong - he's burning up! David checks him, but wants to get him to the hospital. Amanda can see that he's scared. David admits it could be meningitis. Amanda gasps.
