The Gauntlet Is Thrown!

Jake arrives at his new apartment, alone, but Taylor is already there. They both have signed leases for the same apartment! Jake decides to bunk at the hospital but Taylor says they are both adults and can cohabitate for one night - especially since she's perfectly safe with him! Jake wonders what she means. They talk about their work and he tells her about Doctors Without Borders; she asks about his love life and he says it is fine that Aidan loves Greens. Amanda interrupts with food and plants a juicy kiss on Jake. Amanda offers to let Jake stay with her on the yacht when she learns that Jake and Taylor are stuck in the same apartment. Jake isn't sure that is a good idea. Amanda kisses him, says the offer is open and leaves. Taylor asks Jake when he threw over Aidan for Amanda! It takes Jake a minute but then he realizes Taylor thought he was gay. Jake sets her straight and says he'll move in with Amanda. Taylor says she can handle a guy and lets him stay. She unpacks her Army uniform. Jake asks about her service and she says she is waiting to go back; he tells her not to take Frankie with him but Taylor says that is Frankie's decision. They argue about the war; Jake says Frankie has the right priorities - healing people. Taylor is offended and leaves the room. Later, Jake is nearly asleep when he hears Taylor having a nightmare.

Spy Games!

Amanda meets Jake at ConFusion dressed in the pirate costume. She has added a talking toy parrot to the get-up, which makes Jake laugh. He goes to get drinks and Annie sits down. She tells Amanda that they should all mutiny and start their own cosmetics company since they're doing all of Kendall and Greenlee's work anyway! Amanda tells Annie she is on a date and doesn't want to talk business but Annie pushes the matter. Amanda makes the parrot tell Annie to back off. Jake returns and Annie leaves; he asks about her and Amanda tells him about the day. He says Annie's weirdness is understandable considering the stress her brother put her under. They chat about childhood foibles and laugh a lot. Jake says he's rusty at dating but he's having a good time; Amanda says she is having a great time, too. She asks him to stick around for some dancing but Jake has to go look at a new apartment. He says they'll do this again soon. They leave together.

Annie Quits!

Kendall and Greenlee are working when she brings up Spike's bad night. Annie hears them and starts in on her again about keeping Spike hidden from her. She goes to the lounge and Kendall tells Greens that Annie has more issues than normal. Amanda, Randi and Babe arrive. They both think Randi could be Fusion's new model! Babe and Amanda set them straight about Randi's receptionist job. Kendall says Babe made a mistake by not hiring Carmen. Amanda sticks up for Babe, saying they need to trust her instincts since they keep abandoning the place. They argue and Greenlee and Kendall say they can quit any time and they need to remember their boundaries. Frustrated, Amanda and Babe go to their desks; Amanda says Babe should be in charge! Annie returns and continues her argument with Kendall. She brings Greenlee into it, saying she knows Greenlee isn't over Ryan! Amanda and Randi hear them arguing; Randi says it isn't a real fight unless someone pulls a knife! When they bring up Annie's crimes, Annie pushes their crimes right back at them. Babe tells them all to grow up and get to work or leave. Annie quits! Greenlee tries to convince her to stay but Annie refuses. Amanda asks Randi about modeling and she says she isn't interested in anyone taking her picture or being on television because of her past. Amanda is understanding. Babe brings in a huge package for Amanda. It's a pirate outfit - from Jake! He wants her to meet him at ConFusion that afternoon. Babe tries to change Amanda's mind from going but she insists on going so Randi helps her get ready. Annie, with a box in hand, grabs the picture, tells them off one last time and walks out. Greenlee asks what the big deal is about the picture frame and key. Kendall says Annie has a strange key hidden in the frame and she believes it is another strike against the woman. She pulls a duplicate from her purse!

Why? Why? Why?

Amanda walks in to Fusion to find a note from Randi about morning snacks. Jake walks in as Amanda is moving a huge bouquet of flowers for Kendall. She pokes her eye accidentally and Jake comes to her rescue. He flirts with her a little bit and she flirts back. He puts a patch on her eye and says she should see an eye doctor. Amanda makes awful pirate noises as she bumps into chairs and desks. Jake brings up his real reason for stopping by - a donation request for Kendall from Doctors Without Borders. He asks how she is doing and Amanda says she is fine but overworked. She tells him about Greenlee's impromptu wedding in Vegas. Babe arrives, ready to get to work and asks what happened to Amanda. She tells her and asks for vacation time. Babe says there is no way she can spare her. Jake leaves but says she can call on him if she feels worse. Babe asks if she really hurt herself. She says she did. Since they are alone, Amanda and Babe talk about their secret project, eager to get something going without Kendall and Greens. They get to work and soon realize that Kendall and Greenlee really dropped the ball in the last week; they spend a lot of time putting out fires. JR arrives as Amanda leaves to create some last minute reports. He tells Babe to imagine herself in the boss's seat. She says she isn't ready for it yet. He says she deserves more than she is getting and asks her to trust him. Amanda returns after nearly hitting a bus bench because her depth perception is ruined. JR teases her about the patch and leaves. Amanda asks Babe if they have time for the secret project now.

Big Business Decisions!

Randi arrives at Fusion and immediately feels out of place because she didn't dress as sexy as Amanda did. Amanda tells her to relax and brings up Carmen. Randi won't answer. They talk fashion and Amanda gives her a few tips and shows Randi to her desk. The 12-line phone system makes her nervous so Amanda shows her around the office. Randi asks about Kendall and Greenlee; Amanda says they are brilliant but they can be difficult to deal with because of their dysfunctional relationship. They talk about their pasts but Randi won't open up; Amanda tells her about Janet. Randi still won't open up so Amanda says she saw Randi the night she was arrested for being a hooker because of Babe's scheme. Randi gets angry. Amanda stops her, says she hired Randi because she believes in her - not because she feels sorry for her or because it was a joke. Randi decides to take the job and signs the contract. Amanda promises not to tell anyone her secret and encourages her not to give up. Amanda brings up the phone system again and teases Randi about putting Frankie on speed dial. She says Frankie is just a friend. Amanda doesn't believe her and says they should double-date, if she could get Jake to notice her. Babe walks in and asks what is going on. They convince her that nothing is happening. In the office, Babe looks at the cover story of Kendall and Greenlee and settles back in Kendall's chair. Amanda asks what she's planning.

A Lightbulb Moment!

Randi and Amanda meet up again at ConFusion. Randi asks her about Jake and Amanda asks Randi about Frankie. They talk about men and then Amanda offers her a job.

Meanwhile, upstairs at Fusion, Carmen asks Babe if she can see Kendall. Babe explains that Kendall is out of town; Carmen says Adam fired her and Erica thought she could work at Fusion! She starts to leave but Babe stops her, saying she just received hiring power and can't believe her luck! She is worried, though, that Kendall will fire Carmen as soon as she returns. She goes out on a limb, though, and hires her. Amanda arrives a few minutes later and introduces Randi as their new hire; Babe says they can't hire Randi because she already hired Carmen. They argue and Amanda says they are turning into Kendall and Greens! Babe apologizes to Randi, who is very gracious and says she understands why she can't be hired. Amanda apologizes to her and so does Babe. She also tells Randi that she will be their next call. Amanda leads her away. Carmen returns and bumps into Randi. "What are you doing here?" they ask at the same time! Carmen clams up when Babe questions how they know one another and says she doesn't want the job. She leaves!

It's All About Family, Remember?

At ConFusion, Randi hangs up the phone and gets worried. She waits for Frankie for a while but he doesn't show up. Jake arrives for lunch with Joe but sees Randi and joins her. She tells him about looking for a new job. Amanda arrives, sees Jake with Randi and gets annoyed. She joins them. Jake introduces the women and when he says she is a friend of Frankie's, Amanda relaxes. Joe calls to cancel lunch so Amanda and Randi talk makeup. Amanda invites Jake to lunch but he says he has to go. Randi asks Amanda about work at Fusion and Amanda mentions they are hiring. Randi is very excited and says she'd love the chance. Amanda promises that she is in the running for the job and goes back upstairs. Frankie arrives for their lunch date. Randi excitedly hugs him and says her life is finally getting back on track! She tells him about Fletcher's call and the job offer; Frankie's distraction bothers her. He blames it on Cassandra and asks her about the job. She fills him in; as she talks, Frankie goes over his conversation with Fletcher. She tells him to come clean about what is going on. He tells her to weigh all of her job offers and then offers to give her money to make a fresh start in another town! Randi is crushed and storms off. Frankie stops her and says he isn't trying to get rid of her but she doesn't believe him. Frankie says he doesn't want her to go and is about to kiss her when she pulls away, saying he is just like Fletcher! She walks away. After she is gone, Frankie calls Fletcher to agree to the pay-off! Fletcher gives him a week to come up with the cash.

You're Fired!

Amanda is the only one at Fusion when Babe arrives. They complain about the missing-in-action Greenlee, Kendall and Annie, saying the women are taking advantage of them! Kendall arrives with snacks and coffees but they give her the cold shoulder. She finally gets Babe talking about Colby and JR and things start to feel normal. Then she says she is leaving town for an extended weekend with Annie, Ryan and Zach. "I quit!" Babe exclaims and storms off. Amanda follows. Kendall stops them at the elevator and explains about Annie's issues. She begs them not to quit. Babe points out that Annie and Ryan need time alone - not with her! Kendall says this trip is the only way to find out what is really wrong with Annie. Babe and Amanda finally give in and agree to hold down the fort once Kendall agrees to consider raises and a better work schedule in the future. Kendall gives Babe hiring power to get them some more office staff and leaves.

Killing Was The Only Way!

At Fusion, Greenlee tells Amanda about Ryan's botched vasectomy and Annie's pregnancy. Amanda is shocked and tells Greens how sorry she is. Greenlee says the pregnancy doesn't bother her because of Aidan. Amanda isn't sure she buys that. Greenlee mentions Kendall's thoughts of firing Annie and Amanda says that won't go over well. Greenlee says it doesn't matter anyway. Amanda's neck is bothering her so Greens gives her a massage and they talk about available guys. Amanda decides to go after Jake! She still can't move her neck so she leaves work. Greenlee starts brooding about "psycho-Annie". Ryan arrives! She rattles on about fate and being happy with her life. Ryan says the doctor never really performed his vasectomy and shows her the papers. "It should be us," he says, "I love you." Greenlee brings him back to the present; he didn't really say those words. Before he can leave, she asks what he wanted to tell her at the hospital. He takes her hand and asks how she is. She says she is happy and he kisses her and tells her goodbye and leaves.
