Jamie and Di are in the waiting room, with Jamie sorry he didn't break JR's hands to stop him from drinking. Erica and Jeff rush in, and there's an awkward moment when Jack sees them.

Josh arrives at the hospital, walks directly to Babe and asks "How is JR?" Adam rushes towards him, and without a word, punches him in the face. A melee ensues, and then Adam punches Jeff.

Erica steps in to defend Josh and blame Babe for what happened. Dixie chimes in and says it's Babe's fault. Adam agrees. Finally Babe speaks, and says everyone is right—she's responsible for her ruined marriage. She wanders off, and Josh rushes after her, angrily warning everyone to stay away. When he finds Babe, sitting alone and crying, she tells him to go away, and that she never wants to see his face again.

Julia brings Jamie a cup of coffee, and he admits how angry he is with his brother for drinking again. He wants Josh out of all of their lives forever. And he wants Julia back.

Kendall goes over to comfort Bianca, thinking she's upset over Josh—but discovers she's feeling that she's weak. She stood up to JR, why couldn't she stand up and fight for Maggie?

Jack asks Erica if she is ready to move home. She claims she still has a lot to do with the show. Or is it Jeff Martin, asks Jack?

JR Fights for His Life

Dixie's having nightmares about Emma/Kate. She tells Di about how guilty she feels over what she did to Tad. Did she drive Tad to torture Greg Madden? Now Greg is in her mind every night—is this punishment?

Di assures her that they all make mistakes—that doesn't mean that they have to suffer forever. Dixie's going to find Kate and she will have a happy life. Dixie tells Di about her agreement with Annie to allow Kate to live with her—and Di thinks this is a terrible idea.

Bianca calls 911 about JR's jump; Erica and Josh are standing over his motionless body in the alley. He needs a doctor—so Josh begins to help him. He's bleeding out as the EMT's arrive—Josh insists he has to operate on JR right now—in the alley—or he will die! He performs emergency surgery, and then JR is rushed to the ER. The policBabe admits to Adam that she told JR about her Josh tryst. He's very angry and accuses her of ruining JR's life, and being motivated by money. He's getting angrier and angrier—when Jeff walks in, and tells him to shut up. Jeff is looking for Josh.

The police arrive to question Bianca and Erica.

Bianca is in a daze—how could this happen? Should she have let JR leave the room when he wanted to live? Erica tries to convince her that it's not her fault and that JR will no longer do damage to her family.

Erica is shaken by the fact that they could have lost Josh a second time, and Jeff comforts her.

Josh is back in his room, reliving the horrible events of that evening.


Adam and Babe see a blood-covered Josh, who tells them all that has happened. Josh tries to convince Babe that this demonstrates what JR is capable of—but she is unwilling to listen.


Adam is in JR's hospital room as they prep him for surgery. He tells JR how much they love him. Bianca runs into Babe and Adam there—he asks her what the hell she did to JR? She explains that she's sorry about what happened—but it's not her fault. Babe wants to know if JR threatened her and how this happened.

Di finally convinces Dixie to go back to sleep, and she does, but she is awakened by a phone call from Adam telling her about the accident.

Facing the truth in Pine Valley.

Annie refuses to agree to a DNA test—even when Dixie points out that she could have done one when she had Emma. Dixie's desperate, reminds Tad. Just one test, begs Dixie. Annie's upset and says that she feels like she's losing her mind. Ryan shows Tad and Dixie the door.

Why won't they leave us alone, Annie asks Ryan? She says she won't respond to Dixie or Tad. But she realizes that the look she saw in Dixie's eyes is the same one she had when she thought she'd lose her child.

Dixie tells Tad that she thought she'd be with Kate at the end of this day. He insists that David is evil and that she has to cut him off completely. He tells Dixie that without a DNA test he may never know whether Emma is Kate.

Dixie is distraught over everything that's happened, and especially sorry for the role she played in keeping Tad from his daughter. She pulls Kate's baby cap out of her purse, and offers it to Tad.

Annie and Ryan show up at Tad's front door. She announces she's willing to allow the DNA test—now.

Emma comes home:::

Ryan and Tad burst into David's cabin, looking for Emma. Tad logs onto David's computer, searching for clues. David comes home suddenly, and they demand he tell them where Emma is. He laughs at them.


Dixie is still at the airport, trying to decide whether or not to leave on the private, untraceable charter David arranged.

After she talks with Emma and realizes how much the child loves her mother, Dixie brings Emma back to Annie. Erin and Jonathan are enraged and want to call the cops; Dixie tells Annie that she was "so wrong." Annie sends them away, so that she can talk privately to Dixie, who admits that she considered taking Emma. She tells Annie that after being with Emma and hearing her talk about her Mommy, she realized that she already has a mother who loves her. No matter what any DNA test shows, Emma already has a mommy. She swears that she will never take her from Annie again. At that moment, a shocked Ryan and Tad walk in. Dixie promises to stick to her word, but begs Annie to let them DNA test Emma, so Dixie can know whether or not her daughter has been found.

Tad and Ryan get the news at David's, and Tad assures him he won't let him hurt Dixie. David taunts Tad, and calls him stupid for not believing him. After they leave, he's upset—murmuring that Dixie was "so close" to getting what she wanted.

Josh's first day at Chandler Industries.

There's a stalemate between Annie & Ryan and Tad & Dixie about Emma's whereabouts. Annie is getting agitated, but Dixie insists she knows nothing. Aidan has searched all night, but has come up dry. While they're talking, Dixie takes off. Annie wants to rush off after her; Ryan convinces her to stay at home with Erin and Jonathan.

Tad and Ryan come to Zach and Kendall's, searching for Dixie, but she's at David's, talking with Emma/Kate. Then she turns to David and asks if he has any idea of the chaos he's caused. He tells her there's a private jet waiting for her, along with new identities, ready to take her anywhere she chooses. She doesn't want to leave Tad; David says the only way she can have a future with Kate is to forget about him. From this moment on, it's entirely her choice. And surprise—though he did this for her, he's not coming with her.

At the airport, Dixie's having second thoughts—telling David that Annie insists that Emma is her daughter. How can she believe her, counters David?

Krystal tells Adam the truth.

Tad urges Dixie not to give up home—Ryan and Annie burst in and tell her that Emma is missing. "They've taken my little girl?" says Dixie.

Annie thinks Dixie has stolen Emma, but she denies it. Tad suggests that there's a plot between Ryan, Annie, Erin and Jonathan to spirit Emma away.

Annie swears she'll never give up Emma to anyone.

Emma wanders out of David's guest room, asking if her mommy is there yet.

Dixie has another day in court.

Ryan and Annie beg Dixie and Tad to call off the DNA test, before the hearing begins. Jack is petitioning the court to request a test on behalf of Dixie and Tad. He claims that Dixie was very ill post-delivery, and that Madden took her baby to New York and placed her with Annie. Dixie insists she was conned into giving up her child, and has searched the world looking for her. The DNA test is her only option.

Livia is representing Annie, who angrily insists she gave birth to Emma. Jack gives the judge a copy of the other DNA report. The judge reviews it and sees that it shows that Annie isn't Emma's bio mother. Ryan tries to chime in, but the judge isn't willing to help him.

Annie explains that Emma's father was an anonymous sperm donor, but that she is the mother, and the DNA results must be wrong due to a lab error. Livia calls in a surprise witness, the labor/delivery nurse who was present at Annie's delivery of Emma. She also has a copy of Emma's newborn baby footprints, which match Emma's current footprints.

Tad reminds the judge what a devoted mother Dixie has been, and how she's never stopped looking for Kate. An anguished Annie tells him that Emma's her daughter, and belongs with her.

The judge denies Dixie's petition. As they leave the courthouse, Tad tells her they'll "do what they have to do." When everyone has left his chambers, the judge calls CFS and recommends that they investigate Annie.
