Zach want to celebrate. Tad feels nothing by remorse. The two men argue about the correct reaction for the events that have taken place. Dixie steps in to referee. "It's over," she says. The last thing they need is for the two of them to be at each other's throat. Tad politely shows them the door. On her way out, Dixie thanks him for everything he did for her.
At the casino, Dixie invites Zach in for a drink. He declines. She says she needs to talk with him because she knows he knows who did it. He comes in. She wants to know if he is the one who made the CD of Madden in the box. He did but he didn't plant it on J.R. She's glad. She offers to move out of the casino. Zach tells her it isn't necessary.
Tad admits to Dixie that he enjoyed "playing God" with Madden's life, just like Madden did with Kate. Dixie tells him to look forward, and to find Kate. Tad doesn't know if he can deal with his guilt, and breaks down. Dixie tells him a person sometimes does what he has to do. He understands now what motivated Dixie, and apologizes for judging her.
Dixie tells Tad he can trust her. He pulls out his Madden files and she agrees to help him. Derek arrives and tells him he knows what Tad did—and there's no chance he's going to get away with it! He accuses Tad of deliberately lying and ruining his case—and puts him under arrest for perjury.
Tad admits to Dixie that Zach was in on the entire scheme. Jamie was in on in as well, and Aiden was able to call in a marker with Kagan—who did alter the security video time stamp. Dixie realizes the depth of Tad's hatred. So why wouldn't he let her go to prison? Because Tad is the murderer!
He explains how he found Madden with a drugged Erica, ready to take off and disappear forever. Tad smashed Madden on the head with the first thing he found—"something came over me—something evil." He carried Madden to the cargo storage area, put him into a crate and wheeled them out, using a stolen car, which turned out to be Dixie's rental car. He explains how he buried Madden, set up a voice system, and went how to "wait for that bastard to wake up."
He'd hoped that Madden will break and tell him where Kate was. He thought about leaving, and then Dixie was arrested. He couldn't let her take the rap—so he decided that nobody would pay for Madden's death. But all of them are paying for it, and always will, because Kate is gone. A tearful Tad tells Dixie "he's so sorry."
In the courtroom, Dixie and Kendall voiceovers are heard—both wondering if they have any future with Zach. Ryan's voiceover expresses his desire for Kendall to be safe and to form a family with Kendall and Spike. Zach wonders if he has any future with Kendall. "Do we have a chance?" wonder all of them.
In the waiting area, Jamie and Tad embrace. Dixie goes to visit Zach in the holding cell; Kendall enters and sees them. She returns home, upset, and is comforted by Ryan.
The verdict is in: Not guilty on all counts! Tad congratulates Dixie and wishes her a happy life with Zach. An anguished Josh asks Erica and Jeff "who do you think killed him?"
Zach takes an unwilling Dixie to Tad's house, then leaves. She says she doesn't have anything to say to him or want to listen to anything he has to say.
Ryan wants to stay with Kendall, but she insists he return to work.
Colby tells JR that Babe and Josh have something going on. JR refuses to believe that, and tells her to stop or he'll send her back to Liza.
Kendall answers a knock at the door. It's Zach.
The court calls a recess to deal with Jamie's bombshell. JR confronts Tad; Tad tells him it's a good thing, since Jamie has put "reasonable doubt" in the jury's minds. He's standing by every word he's said.
Kendall and Zach share a charged look across the courtroom. She tries to rush out of the courtroom to talk to Jamie; Ryan restrains her. But what if Zach is telling the truth, she asks. She turns towards Zach and sees Dixie running her fingers through Zach's hair.
David sits behind Dixie and taunts her.
Jeff and Erica try to comfort an upset Josh, who tells them he didn't "ask for anything." He says he has to be there to see this trial through to the end. He just wants "an answer" to who killed Greg Madden, so he can put this behind him.
Babe sits down next to Josh, and says she doesn't know who to believe.
In the courthouse, Dixie asks Tad "You ready to burn me at the stake?"
Palmer tells Dixie that he's certain she'll be acquitted. David laughs at them, and Dixie tells him to go away. Livia tells Zach and Dixie to be careful not to show any rage or anger at the trial.
Palmer enters an anteroom where Tad is waiting, and tells him he has a way out to keep him from testifying—a pistol he's carrying. Tad disarms him—an anguished Palmer says he hopes God strikes him dead on the witness stand.
Brooke enters the anteroom to tell Tad that she can't find Jamie anywhere in the courthouse.
Erica and Jeff sit down next to Josh in the courtroom, saying they want to show their support for him. Dr Joe enters at that moment, and sits down in the back of the courtroom.
In the prosecutor's opening remarks, he claims to have ironclad evidence that Zach and Dixie committed murder.
Livia says that while Zach and Dixie had a motive, but didn't commit the murder, the prosecution evidence is circumstantial, and Tad is motivated by revenge and hate.
She cross-examines Derek; hereacts angrily when Livia accuses the police of questionable activities,
Josh has images of Julia attacking and injecting Madden; Di and Del planning to bury him; David digging the grave [but promising to release him if he tells the truth about Kate's whereabouts]; JR helping David; Dixie is observing.
Tad is called to the stand, and admits that the police bugged his house. He admits that Dixie eventually admitted to him that she and Zach were lovers. He says he saw Dixie and Zach in the airport parking lot the night Madden disappeared, and were putting a body in Dixie's car.
Livia asks Tad if it's true that he's there because Chief Frye told him if he didn't testify, he'd go after JR and Jamie for stealing evidence. Tad admits it's true.
He also admits that David helped Dixie get away from him when she was pregnant, and he believed her to be dead. Livia questions his feelings about Dixie not asking for his help in finding their daughter.
The prosecutor asks Tad about his "anger" regarding Dixie's actions, and whether that's affected his testimony. Is it the truth? Tad says it's all the truth—and Jamie and Di burst in, Jamie yelling "Liar! Everything he's said is a lie, and I can prove it."
At the Chandler manse, Dixie tells JR she doesn't want him in the courtroom, hearing all the things they're going to say about her. Adam enters, and Sydney rushes in, announcing "she's back."
Adam hurries to the other room and is reunited with Colby. She continues with her amnesia ruse. JR coldly asks why Josh is there. Colby acts as if she doesn't know Adam or JR; Babe tells everyone that Colby's lying.
Adam reacts angrily, Colby crumbles and admits "everything spun out of control." She tells Adam she was going to hide until she could get away—figuring Adam didn't want to love her anymore. She denies knowing she drank alcohol, believing it to be lemonade, and Adam forgives her.
After Adam and Krystal leave the room, JR compliments her on a "great performance." Colby spitefully tells JR she heard "everything" about Josh and Babe while in the tunnel. JR asks how she can trash Babe after all she's been putting the family through.
Colby says Josh and Babe slept together but JR doesn't believe her. He says he and Babe love each other, and if Colby says one more thing about Babe, she'll regret it.
He tells her she can't con him or Babe. "You both suck!" cries Colby and runs out of the room. Josh tells Babe he loves her and would trust her with his life.
At ConFusion, Dixie and Josh are talking. She insists they did not bury Greg Madden. Tad appears behind her. Jamie and Tad bicker and Jamie stalks off. He's about to take a pull off a beer bottle when JR grabs it out of his hand.
He accuses Jamie of being a hypocrite. Dixie tells Tad he's a liar, and JR walks over to comfort Dixie. She tells him to go home to his wife and baby. When he mentions she's working upstairs, Dixie tells him to go get Babe.
Tad tells Jamie that Dixie is "desperate" and a bad person. Jamie says she's like a mother to him.
Annie comes in and thanks Jonathan for saving her daughter. She says she knows the kind of man he is, and doesn't care what anyone says. She's worried about him; he says he's OK and to leave it alone. They discuss Lily and she assures him that he gave Lily back her life—despite his feeling that he cannot help her.
Erin is discussing how she can help both herself and her brothers overcome a history of abuse.
