Together, Forever...

At the hospital, Dixie reaches out to Tad, startling him. She convinces him to take her hand and suddenly they are in a park. Tad sees their star and reminisces a bit. He realizes she was behind the Kate revelation; she asks about Kathy and Tad says the girl has all the best parts of her and the best parts of him. They sit together as Tad tells Dixie a few stories about Jamie and their practical jokes. He asks what heaven is like; Dixie says her mother is there and she finally met his Grandma Kate. She says she has to go back but she can’t unless he can let her go. Tad says he can’t let her go! “It isn’t our choice,” she says, “there are rules.” She says Kate and Jenny need him too much and he needs to focus on that. Dix tells him that because they are soul mates they will never really be apart. Dix takes his hand and says he is free to love again. She kisses him and then fades away. “Goodbye,” he whispers.

You Can Call Me Daddy!

At the Chandler manse, Adam turns around to see Dixie there. She says he has saved his soul; Adam doesn't care about his soul. He goes on and on about losing JR and Colby. Dixie brings up Krystal but Adam won't talk about her either. Dix says he has taken the hardest step and just needs to continue on the right path. Just then Krystal arrives. "Never give up hope," Dixie says and disappears. Adam tries to push her away but Krystal won't leave. She says she wanted to hate him. "But you came through for Tad and for Kathy," she says and tells him she heard him with Kathy at the hospital. She touches his face and says he helped her see the man she fell in love with! Adam is shocked. She says she still can't trust him, though, and that she does love Tad. Adam says they can be the way they once were but she won't listen. Krystal runs out. Adam hears Dixie, again, tell him to keep the faith.

Joe brings Tad into the chapel. Kathy arrives with Opal. Joe and Opal leave them alone. Tad helps Kathy pray for Julia; in the prayer, Tad thanks Julia for taking great care of Kathy and says he misses her. "I love you, Aunt Julia and I'm being good," Kathy says. After the prayer, Tad leads Kathy to the chairs. Tad talks about the day they first met and says they liked each other because they have a connection. He talks a little more about their past and then tells her about losing his daughter 6 years ago. "That little girl. . .you were right," he says, "I'm your father." Kathy asks who she'll live with and Tad says she'll live with him. She'll be Jenny's big sister and JR and Jamie's little sister and little A's aunt. Tad says she can call him daddy now and gets a little weepy. They hug. Opal and Joe return and are introduced to Kathy as her grandparents. Opal invites Kathy on a park outing so Tad can rest. When they are gone, Tad tells Joe how surreal this has felt. Joe tells him he needs to rest but Tad stays in the chapel to talk to Dixie. "Wherever you are, I hope you can hear me. We did it," he says. Tad thanks Dixie for helping them find Kate and wishes she was still with him. Dix appears and touches his face. Tad can see her!

...And The Truth Comes Out!

In the dream, Tad and Dixie walk toward the light. At the last minute, Dix pulls away and says she can't be with him! She says she will always be in his heart but that he has to go back to life - with Kathy! "The children need you Tad, they need their father," she says, begging him not to leave Kathy or Jenny without a dad. She finally gets through to him and starts to walk away but Tad stops her. He doesn't want to live without her and begs her to stay with him. Crying, Dixie hugs him and says there are rules. Tad doesn't want to hear that. Dixie says she loves him and hugs him. Just then, they hear Adam's voice telling him that Kathy is Kate. Dixie fades away!

Seeing The Future!

Dixie appears in Tad's room. He asks how they can have a second chance. She asks him to come with her. Tad's spirit leaves his body and Dixie tells him they are having a baby! He realizes she is talking about Kate. She apologizes for not trusting him seven years ago. She asks if he'll have a child with her; Tad says yes. They kiss. Tad and Dixie are sent to a birthing room, where she struggles. Soon, baby Kate is born. "Our Kate," Tad says. They are fast-forwarded to Kate's first birthday. Dixie tapes the party while Tad helps Kate blow out the candle. Next comes Kate's first Christmas and then a simple, quiet afternoon watching her at home. Kate takes her first step. Then Kate is about 5, drawing pictures for them. They put Kate to bed and enjoy the evening alone before a fire. Tad wonders what life would have been like if they hadn't been given this second chance. She says they'll never have to imagine it. They kiss. Their life is fast-forwarded to Kate at 18; she leaves to meet some friends. Tad and Dixie make love and Tad calls her the love of his life. They are fast-forwarded to Kate's wedding; he already misses her and wants to visit her on the honeymoon. Dixie laughs. He takes her in his arms and says he'll never let her go. Once more they are fast-forwarded to meeting their first grandchild - Kate's son. Next, they are very old, arguing about who left the door open. Tad won't admit he did it. They laugh and giggle at each other. Back in the present, Tad kisses Dix and thanks her for showing him their life. "I think I'm ready to go with you," he says. Dixie gets worried. Tad excitedly tells her he wants their life - forever. She takes his hand and they walk toward the light.

Desperate Times...

In the operating room, Joe tells Jake he doesn't have to assist with Tad's surgery; Jake says he wouldn't be anywhere else. Dixie appears next to Tad, telling him to hang on for Kate's sake. The operation begins; Jake finds many bleeding arteries. "He's bleeding out," Jake says, asking for more blood. Dixie returns and watches as Jake finally gets one artery closed. Angie stands with Joe, as Jake tries to save him. Tad begins losing even more blood. They finally get the bleeding stopped and the bullet out. Tad is taken to a recovery room. Jake sits with him, telling him not to give up now. When he is gone, Dixie comes to Tad, taking his hand. He wakes and sees her there! Tad mentions second chances and Dix says they can have another chance. She holds his hand close to her heart as Tad loses consciousness.

In the hall, Adam asks Krystal if he can do anything. She says he can't and walks off. Dixie appears and tells Adam he could tell them all about Kathy/Kate. Krystal returns to Babe and JR, telling them she just spoke with Maria about Julia and Kathy. Frankie comes by but doesn't have any news about Tad yet. Krystal and Babe walk away. Adam sits with JR, who believes Adam is only there to gloat once Tad dies. Adam swears he doesn't want Tad to die. JR tells Adam to leave because no one wants him there and then he walks off. Dixie returns to sit with Adam, who begins dreaming that Colby was one of the victims of the wedding shootings! He asks Dixie if this is what she meant when she said his family would pay.

The Waiting Game Begins...

At the hospital, a nurse begins CPR on Julia. Krystal can only watch as Joe says Julia didn't want surgery. Babe and JR arrive, worried about Tad. Krystal is startled to realize he was shot, too. Just then Frankie and Jake arrive with Tad on a gurney. One surgeon tries to keep Jake out of the OR but he insists on staying. Dixie appears and stands by Tad. Frankie goes to Krystal and fills her in on Tad's condition as Jesse and Angie arrive with Cassandra, Ruth, Opal and Greg in tow. Angie asks Frankie to care for Greg's wound; Krystal tells them that Julia is not doing well. Angie hurries off to find Jake and Tad. She gets to Julia's room first and tries to talk her back to life as the doctors shock her heart. Joe gives instructions for more drugs but Julia is already gone. Angie breaks down as they turn off the monitors and Joe halts CPR. Joe rages against Rob. In the hall, she tells him that Tad was shot, too. Annie arrives, eager to see Julia but Babe holds her back from going into the hospital room. In another treatment room, Frankie gives Greg some instructions on caring for his wound. Greg asks about Julia and Frankie tells him how Julia helped save his life. Frankie blames himself for Rob's actions. Greg says he couldn't have known how evil Rob was. Joe comes into the waiting room and tells everyone about Julia's death. No one can believe it. Joe hurries off to see about Tad. In his treatment room, Joe asks Jake for information. Jake says he is trying to stabilize Tad so they can operate but he's lost a lot of blood. Aidan arrives as Cass tells Frankie about Julia's death. Josh arrives and stands with Joe and Ruth. Jack is alone across the room. JR, Babe and Krystal are leaning on one another as they wait for news about Tad.

Zach calls the hospital and learns that Julia has died. Stunned, he tells Kendall and decides he has to call Maria. They go to the hospital; Zach talks to Joe about contacting Maria and learns that Julia asked Krystal to do it. Kendall sees Aidan at Julia's door and says how sorry she is. Ryan and Greenlee arrive; Jack fills them in. Greenlee sees Kendall and Aidan standing together. Annie walks up, sees Ryan with Greenlee and walks away quickly. Jack asks Ryan to give him a minute with Greenlee and then apologizes for telling her about Aidan and Kendall so abruptly. She says she is okay and asks Ryan to take her home. They leave together. Annie is sitting alone, crying, when she sees a brochure about fertility problems. Jake finally returns to the waiting room. He tells Joe that Tad still isn't stabilized but they can't wait any longer for surgery. Joe looks over the charts and hugs Jake. Krystal asks to see Tad first and Jake takes her into the room. JR realizes no one has called Jamie. Just then Adam arrives and asks what he can do. In the treatment room, Krystal begs Tad to hold on. She kisses him and says, "I love you." Krystal returns and sees Adam; she asks about Kathy. Adam sees Dixie is right behind her.

Tad Survives - For Now!

At the hospital, Joe wheels Julia in to the ER with Krystal following. Julie desperately wants to know how Kathy is; Krystal assures her Kathy is fine. Once Julia is stabilized, Krystal comes into the room, telling her things are going to be just fine. Joe returns with bad news: the bullet hit Julia's liver. She knows as soon as he mentions her liver that she is dying. Krystal begs him to fix Julia but she refuses surgery. Krystal begs Joe to operate anyway but he goes along with Julia's wishes. Crying, Julia asks Krystal to call Maria to take Kathy to California. "And tell Kathy I love her," she whispers. Krystal sits with Julia, promising that Kathy will know she is loved. Julia tells them all of Kathy's favorite things - creamy peanut butter, night lights and butterflies. Dixie is there, too, and thanks her for caring for Kate. She promises Julia that Kate will be just fine. Julia opens her eyes and tearily says she knows Kathy will be okay. Then, her monitors flat-line!
