At the funeral home, Zach asks for time alone with Dixie's casket. He tells her he is sorry he couldn't save her and asks for forgiveness. Ryan walks in and tells Zach he is sorry. He should have trusted Zach and not drugged him. Zach tells Ryan about the party plans. No one else is going to die because of him! Ryan wants to help, what can he do? Zach tells him to come to the party. He leaves as Di arrives. Ryan catches her before she can fall. "I want my sister back!" Di tearfully says. Di gives the minister Dixie's bible, then makes a promise to her dead sister: they will find the man who killed her. The minister returns with a message for Ryan as Di leaves. Ryan opens it to find a message from the killer - Zach killed Ryan's sister and he'll kill the mother of Ryan's child, too!
Do You Hear What He Hears?
At the penthouse, Ryan and Annie are uncomfortable with one another. Neither is sure how to act, knowing what they do about Emma. Annie makes coffee, and Ryan asks what her decision is about Emma. Annie isn't ready for Emma to know. The little girl is already attached to Ryan, waking up with him in the house every day fulfills her fantasy family life. But, what if their situation changes? Ryan interrupts her; he wants to follow through on their attraction, to see where their budding romance goes. Annie doesn't think that is a good idea. If things don't work out it will only hurt Emma. Annie suggests she and Emma move out. Ryan doesn't want Annie to leave and tries to convince her to stay. They can make this work, he knows it! The two flirt and then kiss! Annie pulls back. They need distance and she needs to leave; she can't put Emma at risk if things don't work out. Will she tell Emma, Ryan asks? Hesitant, Annie wonders if they should keep things to themselves for now. They need time to digest what's happened. Annie leaves. A few minutes later, Rachel returns with Emma who has a tummy ache. The little girl wants Ryan to take care of her!
Dixie's Final Scene
At Ryan's penthouse, Annie is confused by Ryan's revelation. David ran the test and he has faked tests before. Ryan assures her the test is for real, but offers to have more tests run. Annie doesn't want that. Shocked, she sinks into a chair. This doesn't have to change things between them, she asks, does it? Of course! Ryan wants to be a part of Emma's life! He wasn't ready for Spike but the boy has changed his life, and he wants to be a part of Emma's life the way he is in Spike's life. He won't tell her if Annie doesn't want him to, but he does want to be part of the little girl's life. Annie isn't sure what to do. Emma, Spike and Rachel's return stops their conversation. Emma brings Ryan a magic acorn.
Poisoned Pancakes!
At Ryan's penthouse, he asks Annie why she never pushed to find out who Emma's biological father is. "Oh my god, she told you," Annie says. Thinking he has overheard Emma talking about wanting Ryan to be her father, Annie apologizes. He surprises her when he continues asking why she is comfortable not knowing about Emma's father. Annie tells Ryan about the fights she has already had over Emma. She can't handle another situation like those. Terry got joint custody and she went on the run, Tad and Dixie had Emma put in foster care. She won't go through any of that again, and looking for the biological father could put her relationship with Emma at stake. When Ryan asks if she trusts him, Annie assures him she does. Does she know he thinks she is an incredible mother? That he won't ever let anyone take Emma from her? Annie says yes and Ryan tells her: he is Emma's father!

Annie tells Ryan nothing has to change just because he knows about Emma. Adam blames Babe for the attack on Dixie; Jeff and Joe battle to save Dixie's life.
Satin Slayer Strikes!
Zach sneaks into Ryan's bedroom at the casino, pulling his arm into a hard grip. How does it feel, he asks, to be powerless? He begins shooting questions to Ryan about his past, without giving Ryan time to answer. Ryan doesn't like the questions; Zach doesn't care. Still, Ryan defends his actions - Zach wasn't forthcoming enough with them. Ryan tries to turn the table - asking Zach how long he was going to keep Kendall's secret. Zach replies that it was her secret to tell.
Meanwhile, outside the room Kendall tells Annie to "let her have it". Realizing almost too late than Annie hasn't been told about Emma, Kendall explains she is just furious over what Ryan and Josh did to Zach. Kendall tries to convince Annie that by having her bring the kids over Ryan was using her to get to Zach. Emma comes in, asking if Kendall is mad at her. Ryan and Zach's fight can be heard from the other room. What is Zach afraid of, Ryan asks? Annie and Kendall come in, telling them to calm down. They're scaring the children! Ryan tells Annie to get the kids together - they're leaving! Kendall says no. They've moved into the casino which is much safer than Ryan's penthouse. Ryan tells Annie to get the kids and they'll leave. Once she is out of the room, Kendall begs Ryan to let Spike stay. Sure of his decision, Ryan leaves with Spike. Kendall goes to follow but Zach tells her it won't do any good. Rather than turning on Zach, Kendall tells him she trusts him; he wasn't trying to hurt her. It was the drugs. Jack calls Zach, asking him about his mother's letters. Can Zach come to the PD? Kendall and Zach arrive at the station house and immediately see the portrait.
At Ryan's penthouse, Annie suggests Rachel take the kids to the park. Alone inside, Ryan tells Annie that he and Zach argued about what was said while Zach was under the influence. Annie doesn't seem to care and goes on about work. Isn't Annie at all curious about what Zach said? She tells him she isn't. Their sharing an apartment doesn't mean she has a right to know his secrets. They need to keep boundaries. Is that why she doesn't want to know about Emma's father?
Ryan is Emma's Daddy!
In Zach's office, Zach can't keep Ryan from pulling Kendall from the room. Down the hall, he confronts Kendall, in shock that she kept Emma's paternity from his all this time. How long has she known? Before she can answer Ryan puts two and two together - it was Thanksgiving, when Kendall kept pestering him about how he and Annie were getting along and what their plans were. Rather than answering Ryan's questions, Kendall demands her own apology - for Ryan drugging Zach! When Ryan won't let up, Kendall tries to convince him she kept the secret for his own good. How many times did he tell her the sperm donations he made were anonymous and he never wanted to know what happened to them? And think about Annie - she only wanted a child, not a man. The explanation shocks Ryan even more. The nerve of Kendall to try and get out of her responsibility in the matter! All she really wanted was to control everything around her. How could he ever have loved her? Kendall tries to convince Ryan her motives weren't selfish, she was trying to protect Spike. He deserves his father's undivided attention. Ryan can't believe what he is hearing, but Kendall sees a small amount of doubt on his face. And what about Annie, Kendall asks. Is she ready to let another man into her life? Is she ready to share her daughter? What do Ryan and Annie really have in common? "Emma," Ryan replies. Seeing she has started to make Ryan doubt, Kendall drives home her point: Annie finding out about Emma's paternity could make her run. Before she leaves the room, Kendall tells Ryan he does owe she and Zach an apology - but they may not accept it!
Ryan goes home, sees Emma's doll and picks it up. He can't believe Emma could be his. Rebecca comes in, telling him the kids are asleep and Annie is out. Slowly, Ryan goes into Emma's room and watches the little girl sleep. She wakes, excited to see him. Emotional, Ryan asks Annie what she prayed for tonight. She prayed for Spike to be her baby brother! Annie returns home to find a distraught Ryan. She knows Zach has been drugged, is there anything she can do? Ryan can't tell Annie his news. Not yet. He tells her to get some sleep. Before she leaves the room, Ryan assures Annie, "Everything is going to be fine."
Lies and Revelations
In Zach's office, Ryan wants to know what Zach is talking about. Who is his child besides Spike? It's Emma! Shocked by the news, Ryan wonders how the drug could allow Zach to lie - maybe the drug is only confusing Zach more. Again, he asks Zach why he believes Emma is his daughter. "Because Kendall told me so," Zach replies! Zach tells Ryan about the DNA tests run on Emma - by Josh! Ryan turns on his partner-in-crime. Josh tries to turn Ryan back to Zach, he wants nothing to do with the paternity questions. Why? Ryan wants to know why Kendall ran a DNA test. Before anyone can answer, Kendall enters, wanting to talk about the children. She is concerned that Emma is too attached to Spike. Ryan confronts Kendall about telling the truth, and Josh and Zach stay quiet. Realizing Zach has been drugged, Kendall becomes furious with Josh and Ryan. Zach is beginning to look very. . .strange! Why did they do this? Ryan says he did it because he's tired of being left in the dark, and now he knows the truth. Kendall has no idea what he's talking about. "I told him about Emma," Zach says. Kendall tries to cover Zach's revelation - but Zach and Josh tell Kendall that they told Ryan about the DNA test. Kendall still tries to wiggle her way out of it. Ryan doesn't buy it. Angry with Kendall, Ryan asks Zach if he agrees with what Kendall did. No, he doesn't. In fact, Zach told Kendall it was wrong! Ryan calls Kendall a liar. He demands to know the truth - is Emma his daughter? With tears in her eyes, Kendall says yes. Emma is Ryan's daughter!
