At the Cambias offices, Ryan is spreading the word that he will not be with the company much longer. Kendall arrives, asking for his help in convincing Zach to take over. "Please help me make this happen," Kendall says. Ryan doesn't think he is the best person to convince Zach of anything and tells Kendall to take care of things herself. Jonathan arrives, but he doesn't see Kendall. Before Ryan can say a word, Jonathan asks what he can do to make Annie say yes to Ryan's proposal!
A Proposal, An Answer And A Response
Ryan arrives at the police station to see Alexander and give up control of Cambias Industries. Alexander isn't worried about Ryan leaving, in fact he has already found someone to take it over and rubs the fact in Ryan's face. "All the power and all the money only matter when you use them to do good," Ryan says, not caring who will take over Cambias. Zach arrives, slamming down the papers naming him as the new leader of Cambias. "Take your company to hell with you," he says! Zach tells Alexander that he won't take over the company and rips up the contract. When Alexander threatens Kendall, Zach lunges across the table and takes him by the throat. He tells Alexander not to threaten his family. Ryan and Kendall convince Zach to let Alexander go. Able to breathe again, Alexander informs them that he has other plans for Cambias if Zach refuses to run the company! He will form The Michael Cambias Foundation from it, a foundation dedicated to defending violent criminals and getting them released from prisons! "There is a special place in hell for you," Zach says and leaves. Alone with Alexander, Ryan tells him that he is alone, sick and crazy and leaves him to ponder how to spend the rest of his caged days. Meanwhile, at Zach and Kendall's, she tries to convince him there is one reason - and only one - to take over the company. And it has nothing to do with Alexander, Michael or any other Cambias. It has to do with their son - and their new baby!
At Wildwind, Annie is dressed up in old sweats and with cleaning gear. Julia and Di give her a hard time, wondering if she is trying to make Ryan change his mind about proposing. "I can't jump to "M" before "L"," Annie says, explaining why she didn't say yes right away. She believes that Ryan isn't really in love with her! Di defends Ryan, saying that she hasn't told Aidan she is in love with him yet, either, but that doesn't mean that she isn't in love. Julia and Di begin pre-planning the wedding, but Annie asks them to stop. "Sometimes what we think we want we don’t want," she says. Annie explains to her friends that she doesn't want drama in her life. She wants a simple life and isn't sure that Ryan will be ultimately happy with her because she doesn't make him crazy enough! Di and Julia interrupt her, not seeing the problems that Annie is seeing. Ryan arrives and asks Annie to go to New York with him, if she doesn't mind traveling with an unemployed person! Annie doesn't care that he is unemployed and when he calls her "crazy", she kisses him, telling him that is the nicest thing he has ever said to her! Ryan has no idea what she is taking about, but thinking she is opening up to him, he proposes - again!
To The Future!
At Wildwind, Annie is shocked to hear Ryan propose again and again. "Will you marry me?" he asks over and over. Confused, she tries to figure out where this question is coming from and before she can answer yes or no, Jonathan comes outside, inviting them in. Before Annie can head to the relative safety of a house filled with people, Ryan picks her up and carries her away! He drives to a secluded spot and stops the car. Annie isn't thrilled. She still thinks that any involvement, other than friendship, between them is a bad idea. Ryan disagrees. He wants to give things a try, but Annie can't ignore what might happen with Emma if things don't work out. "Emma's not going to get hurt because we're not going to break up," Ryan says, promising her forever. Annie can't get past the fact that before he left for Las Vegas they had agreed to a friendship. She wants to know if what happened in Vegas with Kendall has anything to do with his proposal. Ryan is quiet for a few moments, then says, "Yes. It has a lot to do with Kendall." Ryan explains that Alexander killing four women and then threatening Kendall and Zach's lives made him think about his own future. It made him want a life - with Annie! "Tell me I don't have a chance," Ryan says. When Annie doesn't tell him that, he kisses her passionately!
It's Over!
In Vegas, Ryan watches Zach and Kendall together and is touched by their love. Zach approaches to apologize to him. "It all worked out okay," Ryan says and offers his hand to Zach. The men shake hands, coming to a new understanding. Kendall comes in, asking if Spike can come home! Ryan calls Annie, who says she will have Spike at Kendall's by the time they get home. Kendall paints a picture of domesticity - meals with Spike, playing with Spike and loving one another! Ryan asks Kendall if he can still see Spike any time and she assures him that he can. Ready to see her family but not wanting to stay at the mansion, Kendall tells Zach that she can't go back there. The place is too similar to Alexander's duplicate. Zach calms her, telling her that he'll find them the perfect new home! At the casino apartment, Binks and Erica are waiting for Kendall with Spike. Zach enters behind her, but quickly leaves.
At Wildwind, Jamie calls Julia to tell her they are coming home - everything is fine! Emma, sitting with Annie, is excited that she will see Ryan again. Kathy is just as excited that her daddy, Tad, is headed home. Julia takes Kathy in her arms, trying to explain that Tad is her friend - not her father! Broadway performers Josh Strickland and Ashley Brown arrive. Ryan sent them to pick up the kids and take them to a matinee! Alone again, Di and Julia sing Ryan's praises to Annie. Julia asks about Jonathan, but he is nowhere to be found. Annie leaves and finds Jonathan at the cemetary. He can't control his feelings and doesn't know how to react to the news of the Slayer's capture. Annie comforts Jonathan, telling him that whatever he feels is okay. Turning to her, Jonathan tells her that without her help after Erin's death he would have lost it again. Touched, Annie offers her friendship to him. Jonathan tells her she would make a better sister-in-law but Annie balks at the thought. Back at Wildwind, Aidan and Jamie arrive as Annie brings Jonathan back to the house. A few minutes later, Ryan arrives and pulls Annie outside to talk. He gets down on one knee - and proposes!
Caught In The Crossfire
At the computer store, Ryan and Tad are interrupted by a worker. He doesn't want them using the computers - he wants them to buy them! Ryan agrees to buy the whole inventory as long as the worker tells them about Red Rock! At the Vegas hotel, Aidan, JR and Jamie learn more about the area and locate Alexander's property. Tad calls and they fill him in. Tad and Ryan and Jamie, JR and Aidan head for Red Rock!
At the replica mansion, Alexander's gun goes off as he fights with Zach but neither man is hurt! Zach manages to get the V-Tach device away from Alexander but he manages to keep gun! Alex shoots Zach but Zach keeps the device activated. When Alexander begins working on Zach's mind again, Kendall tries to convince him that he isn't to blame and yells, "No!" when Zach volunteers his life for hers. Seeing that Alexander isn't giving in, Zach asks what he really wants. Alexander tells them he wants an heir. Ryan is a good choice, he thinks, but only because Ryan can lead him to the person he really wants to carry on the Cambias name: Spike! Because of Kendall's strength, Alexander wants to raise Spike as his own son! "You stay the hell away from my son," Kendall says. Alexander orders Zach to kneel, and slowly turns the gun on Kendall. As he turns, Zach pulls a knife from his boot and throws it at Alexander, cutting his arm deeply! Hurrying, he gets the needle away from Kendall's throat as Alexander reaches for the gun again. Zach stops him and wrestles him inside. "You killed Erin. You killed Simone. You killed Dixie, you killed my mom. Now I'm gonna kill you!" he says. Kendall cries for Zach to come back, but he is too enraged to hear her. Tad and Ryan arrive and Tad pulls Zach off of Alexander, trying to convince Zach that his life is worth more than Alexander's. Tad finally begins to calm him. Jamie, Aidan and JR arrive and head into the main room. Tad promises that Alexander will be punished. Outside, Kendall tells Ryan about Alexander's threats to Spike. Ryan heads straight for Alexander, telling him that if he ever goes near Spike, Ryan will kill him. JR approaches Alexander, angry and wanting to know what Babe's last moments were like. He doesn't answer. Zach comes in and takes Kendall in his arms, as Tad leads Alexander away.
And The Truth Will Set You Free!
Jack arrives at the Vegas jail, annoyed that Tad and Ryan got themselves arrested. They explain that Alexander is alive and has Kendall. Jack tells them that Jenkins has been killed, making Ryan and Tad more anxious to get out. Ryan tells Jack about the musical bear and asks Jack to get them out of jail. "No," Jack says, but he does manage to get the detective in charge to talk with Ryan and Tad outside of the jail cell. The detective puts out an APB on Alexander but says he is still going to hold Ryan and Tad for trespassing! Jack starts an argument with the detective and realizing no one is paying attention to them, Ryan and Tad take off! In an office, Ryan hums the lullaby into a computer program that identifies songs. The words to the Red Rock lullaby come on screen and Ryan wonders that it means.
Truths Are Revealed
At the Vegas warehouse, someone kicks the teddy bear toward Ryan. The person nudges him awake with the barrel of a gun! It's the police! They think Ryan is the one who killed the Amelia lookalike. Undeterred, Ryan tells them that Alexander is a serial killer and explains that another victim could be in danger! The police don't believe him because according to their records, Alexander is dead. Ryan tries to fight his way free as Tad arrives. The police pull their guns on Tad, who tries to calm them down. He explains that neither of them is the killer and reaches for his cell phone. Taking the phone from his pocket, Tad asks the lead officer to call Jack, but he won't. Instead, the cops lead both men away. In jail, Tad can't believe that Ryan tried to attack the officers. Tad tells him he should have stayed calm and come back to the hotel instead of following Zach on his own. Ryan explains he couldn't leave Zach to face Alexander alone any more than he could face his own father or Tad could face Ray Gardner alone. Ryan yells at the cops to let him have his phone call but no one comes.
