At Wildwind, Annie turns from Ryan, telling him to leave her alone and refusing to look at him! He finally leaves and from outside the door, Ryan begs to be let back inside. Annie doesn't budge, though and asks him to get Julia! Downstairs, Julia is preparing for a board meeting at the hospital as Amanda, Del, Di and the others prepare for a game of poker. Ryan comes in, pulling Julia away. He asks her to go upstairs to Annie. Jonathan comes over, asking what happened with Annie. "I blew it and I don't know how," Ryan says. Di comes over, telling Ryan that Annie needs the total package and Del, Jamie and Amanda wonder what's up. Telling them that Annie booted Ryan out, they come up with romantic alternatives to the dusty-stable proposal. Back upstairs, Annie lets Julia in asking, "Is this what I think it is?" Julia takes her fever and assures her its official - she has chicken pox! When Julia prepares to leave, Annie gives her one more request - send Ryan home! Julia comes back, asking who has had chicken pox and Ryan realizes the truth. He heads back upstairs and when Annie still won't let him in, he picks the lock and goes in anyway! Annie hides her face under the comforter as Ryan talks to her. He reaches for the comforter and pulls it away from her so he can see her face. He kisses her! The poker game gets underway in the downstairs parlor and the group tries to get Julia away from her work, but they can't. Lily arrives, asking Aidan if he'll help her with a blackmail scheme against Barbara! "I want Barbara to leave right now," she says, upset that Barbara's appearance has upset the balance of her home. Aidan declines, and Lily begins to think of other options. Game interrupted, the players have all turned to other pursuits. Jamie tries to distract Julia, but she is focused on work. Amanda brings Jonathan a drink to Jonathan, realizing there are still feelings between Jonathan and Lily. Amanda is understanding about Lily and the fact that he is going to leave ConFusion. She deals the cards and the two play another game.
The Lights Go Out!
At Wildwind, Annie is stunned that Ryan has gone to such extremes to re-create Emma's book. Upset that he has done this because she wrote the book for Emma only and upset that she keeps telling him no and he continues to ignore her, she asks him to leave. When he doesn't, Annie asks how many more times she must turn down the proposal. "Well, you could just say yes," he suggests, upsetting her even more. She compares how she feels to the book. "It's a book, it isn't real," she tells him sadly. Ryan asks Annie to let him into her book. For a moment, the two play in their fairytale but when Ryan asks what the future holds, Annie orders him to leave!
Tensions Mount in P.V.
In the Wildwind stables, Jonathan challenges Ryan to fight for Annie and for Cambias. Ryan doesn't see that walking away from Cambias is a loss, and tries to make Jonathan see his enthusiasm for his own project. Jonathan, though, doesn't see things that way. He believes Ryan is giving up on Annie just like he gave up on Cambias. Slowly, Ryan realizes that Jonathan is really upset about Lily! "Since I've gotten better, everything that I love is slipping away," Jonathan admits, wondering how he can move forward. He asks Ryan to fight for Annie so that he won't wind up the same way. Trying to make Jonathan see that he has a lot to offer, Ryan encourages him to make some new plans, including a better job! He also assures his brother that he isn't giving up on Annie. When Ryan suggests asking Zach for a job with Cambias, Jonathan tells him about their confrontation. Ryan tells him to go back anyway. Ryan hugs him, telling him to go for it as Emma comes into the stables. Jonathan leaves Emma and Ryan alone to play. Ryan takes Emma to the house, reads her a story and puts her down for a nap. Annie arrives home to find her room redecorated in a childish interpretation of a queen's room, just like Emma's story. Ryan hugs her, welcoming her to the castle.
Adam Goes On The Attack!
At the Wildwind Stables, Annie tells Ryan she began falling in love with him from the moment she met him! She wants to make sure that what they feel is the real thing, though. "All I need is you," he says, trying to convince her. Ryan offers her the ring again, telling her that he has no doubts about their future. Annie is too unsure of him to accept what he says. "I love that you're Emma's mother, but I love that you're you way more," he says. They hear a child cry out outside and run to check things out. Emma has scraped her knee and Ryan fixes her up. Annie takes Emma back to Julia and Kathy as Ryan cleans up the mess. She returns a moment later, ready with her final answer. She doesn't think they should marry. She tells him no, she won't marry him! Annie gives his jacket back and leaves the stables! Ryan is stunned and sits against the wall. Jonathan arrives, and Ryan tells him that Annie turned him down. Jonathan can't believe it, but Ryan isn't giving up. He is going to fight for her!
Love and Revenge Are In The Air
At Cambias, Ryan is finishing his packing when Zach and Kendall arrive. Zach asks Ryan to stay on with the company, and run it with him! Kendall thinks this is a great idea and tries to convince Ryan to stay on, but he has other plans. He wants to start his own company! Annie calls, interrupting them, and asks if Ryan can head to Wildwind. He offers to help Zach with the transition and then leaves. Zach picks up Ryan's nameplate and asks his own question - does he really want Cambias? Without answering his own question, Zach gets to work and tells Kendall she needs to get to her own office. Kendall gives Zach a present - pictures of she, Spike and with a place for the new baby. Jonathan arrives, angry that Zach is in Ryan's office. Kendall tries to stop him, but Jonathan asks how it feels to profit from the women's deaths. She defends Zach from Jonathan who leaves still blaming Zach for his sister's death. Alone, Zach and Kendall talk over their choices and decide that moving forward with Cambias is the right decision!
In the Wildwind Stables, Ryan finds Annie and offers her the ring, but she wants to talk about other things. She tells him that Jonathan was wrong and she isn't in love with him; Ryan doesn't care what Jonathan thought or said and starts to kiss her. Annie pushes him away, wanting to talk, but Ryan can't keep his hands - or his lips - off of her! In desperation, Annie pushes him away again and asks him to teach her to ride a horse. Ryan sets a saddle on one of the rails so Annie can practice sitting on a horse. As she sits, he explains what it feels like to ride a horse. Annie loses her balance and falls from the rail! She lands in a trough of water and Ryan offers her his sweater. He tells her that she is beautiful. "I am in love with you," Annie whispers.
The Truth Hurts!
Ryan and Annie arrive back at Wildwind in good spirits. He lights a fire and Annie turns on soft music. They for a moment before Ryan takes Annie to the floor where they curl up in front of the fire. Kissing and flirting, Ryan asks Annie to tell him her dreams. "I want to inspire Emma," she says. As she talks, Ryan is captivated by her words and the things she wants. Annie asks what Ryan's dreams are and he talks about being married to her and starting a life. He kisses her neck, distracting her from their conversation and the two begin to make love. Breathing heavily, Ryan pulls back, wondering if he is moving too fast for her. Jonathan comes in and tries to backtrack but Ryan and Annie see him and pull away from one another. He kisses her goodbye and leaves. "I knew I was right," Jonathan says and tells Annie that he is glad now that he told Ryan how she feels about him! She can't believe that he told - it was her place to say it! Jonathan doesn't see the problem. "He loves Emma and he doesn't want to break my heart," she says, wondering how she can ever know now what Ryan really feels! Julia arrives home and sees Annie at the fireplace. The two sit quietly as they watch the flames.
Adam Learns The Truth
In his office, Ryan is packing up his things and preparing to leave when Annie comes in. He sees her before she can leave and invites her in. Telling her to sit down, he tells her there is a reason she should not marry him! Getting down on his knees, Ryan tells Annie how much she means to him and how much he wants her in his life. Then, he tells her he had a vasectomy! Annie isn't worried about it. They have Emma and Spike already. Besides, vasectomies can be reversed, if they decide to go that route. Relieved, Ryan hugs Annie and kisses her. She asks how he feels about adoption. Ryan whisks Annie off to New York in his private jet to properly woo her. Ryan leaves when the plane lands and returns later with gifts. St. Patrick's Day hats for the kids, and a diamond ring for Annie. He kneels, opening the ring box and again asks her to marry him. Stunned, Annie sits down. "I need more time," she says. Ryan tells her to take as much time as she needs, and he'll hold on to the ring in the mean time. Annie pulls him to her, kissing him passionately!
Not So Fast, Dad!
Meanwhile at Cambias, Jonathan continues telling Ryan what a great catch Annie is as Kendall listens behind the door. Ryan sends Jonathan away, expecting Kendall to be all over him at the news. Kendall surprises him but not going after Annie or telling him that he is making a mistake. Instead, she tells him to be careful because marriage is a big step. Ryan tries to reinforce his love for Spike to Kendall, who tells him that she is happy for him but then runs from the office. A few minutes later she returns, making Ryan wonder what is going on. He guesses that she is pregnant and she happily confirms the news. She tells him that she understands now how Ryan can love both Emma and Spike without taking anything away from either one. She hasn't even met the new baby and she already loves him or her as much as she loves Spike! Ryan hugs her, excited at her news and glad that she finally understands how he feels about Spike and Emma. Kendall brings up Annie, singing her praises for taking on Ryan who has had a vasectomy even though she obviously loves and wants more kids. Before he can react, Zach calls and asks Kendall to meet him at the casino. Jonathan returns, mistaking Ryan's stress over the vasectomy for Kendall's interference. The two argue over whether to tell Annie the truth and Jonathan tells Ryan that it won't matter - because Annie is in love with him! Ryan is shocked to learn that, but it gives him hope. "Now I just have to show her that I'm worthy," he says.
Good News Travels Fast
At Wildwind, Ryan repeats his big question to Annie, telling her that she makes him crazy. "What about love," she asks him. Ryan tells her that he hasn't talked about love because he didn't want to pressure her into anything. He begins telling her how well they work together and how many things they have in common, but he doesn't tell her he loves her. "We fit, you know we do," he says. Annie brings up Kendall. Ryan tells her that Kendall isn't in the equation. "This is not a rebound," he assures her, telling her that he wants to spend all of his time with her. Ryan kisses her and leaves as Jonathan comes in the room. Curious why she hasn't accepted the proposal, Jonathan asks her why. Annie beats around the bush, wary of Jonathan telling Ryan that she is completely in love with him. Jonathan tells her that is why she should say yes - because of love! As far as Ryan not saying the "L" word, Jonathan sees that as a good sign. "Get a clue," he tells her good naturedly.
