Erica is shocked to see Carmen lay one on Jack. Carmen asks if that was enough and then turns and says she isn't the woman Jack wants! A waiter offers to have Jack and Carmen removed but Adam and Erica say they can stay. Adam dares Erica to call Carmen friend and she obviously struggles with the word. Jack goes to Erica and tells her to stop playing games - with him and with Carmen! - because he is done playing. Meanwhile, Adam buys Carmen a fancy bottle of wine. She can't believe she played right into his plans with Erica. Jack tells Erica to back off because he really cares about Carmen. He returns to their table. Carmen takes off her fancy shoes and jewelry and tosses them in the water. Erica comes to her and Carmen says she was a fool to believe anyone could care for her after caring for Erica. Erica and Adam begin arguing. Carmen turns around but Jack is gone. He returns with Carmen's shoes in tow, places them on her feet and asks her to stay. Erica watches. Carmen cries when Jack says he wasn't playing games with her. They leave. Adam turns to Erica and asks her to marry him! Erica slugs him!
Who Loves You More?
Erica calls Jack. When he stops by, she brings up Carmen. She says she doesn't want Carmen to be hurt by Jack. He turns to go but Erica stops him by bringing up Carmen's past. She insinuates that Carmen dating anyone could badly affect her retrial. Jack says Carmen's romantic past is no more a detriment than Erica's own! He says she isn't being a good friend. Adam calls to ask her to dinner. Erica accepts. Jack asks who called but then backtracks and says it is none of his business - just like him dating Carmen is none of hers. He leaves as Opal arrives. She asks what is going on and Erica says she and Jack are finished. Opal isn't so sure that is true but Erica insists it is. She leaves as Adam arrives. Erica asks where they are going and he says downstairs on the terrace.
Jack escorts Carmen to their table. Opal sees them and says, "What is the world coming to?" and backs away. Jack and Carmen continue their date, not having seen her. She asks about Greenlee and Jack says she is happy. Erica and Adam arrive for their date. He pretends to be surprised to see Jack and Carmen as Erica pretends not to care that they are there together. She says she doesn't care about their date and turns to go, saying she sees through Adam's scam. He grabs her and says if she is really fine she should prove it! Jack sees them. Carmen sees them, too, and decides Jack is using her to make Erica jealous. "Let's make your plan really work," she says and kisses him!
Get Outta Town!
Erica is dressing Carmen and suggests she start dating. Carmen brings up Jack and asks if Erica still loves him. Jack arrives with Erica's last release papers. She chatters on about Carmen; Jack can't take his eyes off of her but Erica doesn’t notice. Carmen tries to make a quick getaway but Jack brings up Greenlee and their night at ConFusion. Jack tells Erica everything, stunning her. Jack leaves. Erica brings up the dinner and Carmen says it was a business dinner but that with everyone else showing up they got distracted from work. Erica asks what Carmen wants and she says she has everything she needs - a job, her freedom and friends. Erica brings up Jack and asks about romance. Carmen says Jack is Erica's and therefore hands off to her. Erica says Jack isn't hers any longer - but that he isn't over her! This saddens Carmen, who thinks she can't appeal to a good man. Erica says she can attract anyone she wants to but then says she shouldn't even consider a rebound relationship with Jack. The more she talks about Jack's good points, the more upset Erica becomes. She tries to focus on Jack's bad points - his stubbornness and rigidity. "You don't want me to date Jack, do you?" Carmen asks. Erica backtracks and says Jack deserves to have some fun and then says she doesn't care who Jack dates. Carmen is excited and leaves.
Nobody Likes a Buttinsky!
Erica stops by Samuel's to see how he is holding up. He says even she can't derail his campaign when she asks how it is going. Erica comments that maybe they should back off, just in case. Sam asks if she is giving him an out - or trying to take one for herself! She says she is just trying to do the right thing. He asks about Jack and Erica tells him about the break up; she makes it sound like the break up was her idea. He kisses her and says their relationship won't hurt his campaign. She admits she is a bit scared to take this step; he admits to some fears, too, but says he wants to jump right along with her.
Big Business Decisions!
Jack meets Erica at the Yacht Club and asks how Samuel is doing! She says there is nothing between them but Jack brings up her past, especially the way she likes to play men against one another. She gets angry and Jack says he is just as guilty as she. He says she doesn't need to play games and he isn't going to play games any longer. She can't believe he is giving up on their relationship. Jack says their relationship was over a long time ago. She believes he has met someone new! Carmen calls Jack, who asks if she is free to talk!
You're Fired!
At the Chandler manse, Carmen disrupts Adam's work by vacuuming. Erica arrives and demands that Adam help Dre! He says there is nothing he can do for Dre because he is in just as much trouble. Erica won't give in. Carmen suggests that Adam buy a replica car. Erica keeps pushing him but Adam refuses to consider helping Dre. He accuses Erica of using Dre's problems to get in good with Sam - and find her eleventh husband! Carmen defends Erica. Adam fires her! He walks out. Erica says she can fix the problem and calls Kendall for help. Kendall doesn't pick up the phone.
I'm Not Going Anywhere!
In the holding cell, Adam demands that Barry get him out of jail - and keep Colby out, too! JR is standing by, twisting the knife in Adam's side by questioning his competency. Adam asks if this is something else JR will use against him; JR says he is going to focus on Colby - for now! He says he could have helped fix the situation. Adam asks him to help now. JR agrees and then leaves. Erica walks in and asks Adam how he could hurt Colby - and Carmen! - this way! "You have jeopardized the terms of Carmen's bail," she says! Adam could care less about his new maid. Erica tells him to fix the situation - or else!
Meanwhile in the squad room, Jesse and Samuel come to an agreement to keep all of the kids out of jail. Jesse leaves to check on Dre. Erica arrives and asks if there is anything she can do. She reaches out to Sam just as Jack arrives! Samuel thanks Jack and fills him in on Dre's confession. Jesse returns. Jack asks about Adam's arrest and they leave to go over the case file. Sam thanks Erica for coming by and then several reporters burst into the room asking question after question about Erica, Dre and Sam's political career. He says he will stand by Dre no matter what that means for his career and then leaves. The reporters question Erica. She will only say that she supports Sam and Dre. Jesse returns and shows the reporters the door.
In the interrogation room, Dre goes over everything with Jack. He says he wasn't sure they had hit Richie until Petey ran the blood tests on the car. Jack realizes that with the blood only being on the bumper it could prove that Richie was already dead or dying. He asks where the car is now but Dre doesn't know. Jack goes to the hall and asks Jesse about the car; he says it was probably destroyed because all Adam will say is that it was stolen. Jack returns and tells Dre everything will be fine. He and Sam go into the hall where Erica is waiting. Sam is worried about his son; Jack says Dre is too willing to take all the blame. Erica begs Jack to keep Dre out of prison and then tells Sam that there is no better lawyer than Jack. Jack gets a call that Dre's arraignment is set. He and Dre walk out together. Sam and Erica hang back to make a dinner date.
