At home, Tad asks Krystal, who is cleaning like a mad woman, to tell him what is bothering her. He gets really nervous when she struggles with telling him. She finally tells him about kissing Adam soon after Babe was kidnapped by Richie. Tad is angry, mostly because he isn't sure that Krystal is really ready to let Adam go. She says she is done with Adam - for good this time! "I stand with you," she says. "Do you want me?" Quietly, Tad says he understands her feelings for Adam because he isn't a completely evil man. Krystal says she doesn't like the person she is with Adam and tells him about Colby's drinking. Tad gets upset on Colby's behalf. She admits how worried she is. Krystal thanks him for not treating her like a trophy he won from Adam and swears she'll make him feel just as good about himself. Tad picks up Jenny as they make promises to stick together. Kathy comes downstairs as they kiss. She frowns.
In the garage, Jesse questions what Tad is doing. Tad says Jesse should get on board so they can figure out who actually killed Richie. Tad goes ahead with his breaking and entering and Jesse turns his back so that he won't compromise any future investigations. Tad notices that, for a car that hit a tree, it is in surprisingly good condition. He says most of the damage looks minor - like someone hit the car repeatedly with a pipe! Tad checks out more of the car and realizes one of the tires looks brand new. He checks the trunk and sees that there is no spare tire and that the wrench is missing! Jesse says an awful lot of things are disappearing - and every missing thing surrounds Annie! He remembers what Angie said about the head trauma; he realizes Dre may be innocent.
The Hubbards arrive at Tad's for a family barbecue. Cassandra wails about Dre's arrest, and when Jesse says Dre is out on bail she already gets very upset because he hasn't called her. Jesse says he is keeping his distance because of the pending charges against the girls. Cassandra tries to leave but Colby stops her. Tad takes Jesse to the basement while Krystal and Angie try to distract the girls with food preparation. Angie hugs Cass and tells her that she and Jesse love her. Cassandra says, again, that she was just trying to protect her friends. Angie asks how serious things are between she and Dre which annoys Cassandra even more. She thinks Angie disapproves of Dre because of his legal troubles. Angie says she disapproves of the relationship because they are too young to go fast. Cass says she should worry about Frankie's relationship with Randi. Angie says Frankie is old enough to make hard decisions. She walks away.
In the basement, Tad shows Jesse his man-cave. Jesse is torn up about Cassandra and Angie. Tad says he and Krystal have been arguing practically non-stop, too. Jesse is worried because the DA is pressuring him to indict Dre - or any of the kids for that matter. He says he's considering stepping down from the Chief position. Tad powers on his video game and over a game of bowling, talks about who is most likely to have really killed Richie. Jesse says Zach, JR, Kendall and Greenlee are off the list. Jesse wonders if someone helped Richie escape. They switch to baseball and Tad suggests Ryan as the culprit. Jesse says Ryan has an alibi. He brings up Annie and Jesse tells him Annie's story about the movie. Tad says he should question Annie again. Jesse mentions that Annie had the body cremated very fast and wonders if she was covering up evidence. Tad asks if Jesse checked Annie's car after the hit-and-run. He says he didn't and that it's too late now because Annie had an accident just the other day. Angie comes down and tells the men the kids are calmed down and the food is ready. Tad realizes he forgot about dessert and runs to the store for s'mores. Jesse follows him.
In the penthouse garage, Tad is about to break into Annie's car when Jesse startles him!
Tad and Krystal take Colby home. She is wrecked because of Dre's arrest and Cassandra's breakdown. Krystal and Tad say she can get through this but Colby isn't so sure. She goes upstairs. As soon as they are alone, Tad asks Krystal how she could have kept Adam's secrets! She insists she was trying to help Colby and begged Adam over and over to go to the police. He reminds her how much Adam has hurt his other children and says she should have come to him. She says she didn't intend to help Adam but she didn't see another way to help Colby. Tad says she shouldn't have lied to him; she says she never lied! Tad steps back and says she may not have lied but she wasn't 100% truthful either. She says she loves him and will make this up to him. Tad reminds her of Adam's bad side and asks when she will open her eyes and see the real Adam. She says she'll prove that she can stay away from Adam - if he'll just give her another chance. Tad takes her in his arms and says she doesn't have to prove anything, she just needs to trust their love! Krystal suggests they let Colby move in. Tad agrees. Colby comes back downstairs as they are headed up to bed. When she is alone, she pours a drink. JR walks in and asks what she is doing! She admits she is drinking and JR drags her to an AA meeting.
Jesse reads the kids their rights again; Angie tells the kids to tell the truth. Dre screams that he was driving but so do the girls. Samuel arrives, talking to his campaign manager, and asks what is going on. Krystal and Tad follow on his heels. JR and Adam fill everyone in. Samuel asks to speak to Dre alone; Jesse plays the tough cop and asks if they understand their rights. Tad tries to step in but Jesse won't give in. He and Detective Perry lead the kids away. Adam calls Barry again. Krystal tells Tad what she knew about the plan and JR tells Tad about Adam getting rid of the car. Krystal mentions that Petey knows, too. Tad asks Krystal who was really driving the car; rather than answering, she goes to comfort Angie. Angie is near hysterics, wondering if she drove Cass to confess. Across the room, Samuel plays the father card, insisting that he can get through to Dre and help them find the real driver. Adam bullies his way into Colby's holding cell. Jesse and Angie try once more to get through to Cassandra but she won't tell them anything.
In the hall, Tad asks Krystal why she didn't tell him everything from the beginning. She hesitates and then says this isn't the place for an argument. Tad says they'll talk at home. When Adam leaves the holding area, Tad tries to convince him that they should work together. Adam won't listen. Samuel corners Jesse, who tells him about the surveillance photos. He suggests that Jesse put the kids together, alone, in a room and Dre will make them tell the truth. Jesse decides to take a chance. Detective Perry puts all the kids together. Dre tells the girls that they have to stop lying and the girls try to change his mind but Dre resolves to take the blame on himself. He swears he will be okay and leaves the room. Together, they tell the whole truth about that night. Jesse frees the girls but then reads Dre his rights. Sam calls Jackson for help. The campaign manager calls to see what kind of damage control they can do; Sam says it doesn't matter. Just then, Jesse arrests Adam for obstruction of justice because he got rid of the car!
At Tad's, Jesse is still worried about being Chief of Police. He isn't comfortable with the boss label at all and misses the camaraderie of just being an officer. Tad brings up Richie's case and realizes that is the root of Jesse's problem - being the boss and having a child possibly involved in a crime. Krystal returns. They talk about the case and Krystal asks about Richie's death; Jesse says the hit was definitely murder but the run may not have been. Kathy comes downstairs and announces that she wet the bed again. She asks Tad to take her back to bed. With Tad out of the room, Krystal tells Jesse he should just forget about Richie's killer because it could have been an accident. He leaves and she follows him to the porch, apologizing. Jesse walks away. Tad returns, says Kathy is okay and hugs Krystal.
Tad and Jesse talk about Richie's case over doughnuts. Jesse is more frustrated than ever. Jesse tries to hold back but Tad pushes him and he says Colby and Cassandra are becoming suspects. Tad is shocked. Jesse tells him about walking in on the kids and how weird they began acting. He says Petey may be involved, too. Tad is shocked. Jesse says if the kids killed Richie, they have to find a way to keep them out of jail. Tad suggests going back to Adam but Jesse says Adam has an alibi - Krystal! Tad is shocked. Jesse says he can understand Adam trying to protect Colby and says he would do the same thing for Cass. He is worried about how to get Cass to open up and is really worried about how Dre's parents and Adam will react if a full-blown investigation comes about. Tad asks how Jesse will handle it if he has to arrest Cassandra; Jesse says he'll do his job. He is very worried about Angie's reaction, though. He brings up Frankie's troubles. He says he has to keep all this stress from Angie. Tad advises him to tell Angie everything - right away!
