Tad and Damon see Frankie at the hospital counter and get the news that Damon isn’t a match for JR. Tad is upset and says he’s not alright. Tad gives Damon a key so that he can stay at his place. He also gives him some money for essentials and Damon sincerely thanks him.
His Best Hope!
As JR slips into a coma, Adam rants about getting another doctor, and Annie asks Angie to put a rush on her donor test. Tad tells Adam they need to come to terms with the fact that they may lose JR - he could go at anytime! Marissa sits on the bed with her husband, and Brooke urges Adam to take care of Colby. Liza watches as Adam approaches their daughter and suggests she try to reach JR. Annie comes up to Adam and tells him he was great with Colby - he notes he wouldn't even have spoke with Colby if it weren't for Brooke! Suddenly his phone rings - he learns he's not a match for JR. Annie says an answer might come out of nowhere and surprise him! Colby relieves Marissa at JR's bedside and informs him that she expects him to be back to his old self when he wakes up. Liza sits with Tad, who notices Damon come in. Damon explains that he came to see if he's a match for Colby's brother. Tad urges Damon to talk to Colby - she needs a friend. Brooke chats with Adam, who confides that he's falling apart at the idea of losing his child. Brooke shares that when Laura was hit by that car, she wanted to die, and thought the pain would kill her, but time did help, although it never quite goes away. She assures him you find a way to go on. They clasp hands, which Annie spies. She goes over to Angie, who tells Annie she's a partial match for JR - right now, she's his best hope! Annie is taken aback, however, when she learns surgery is involved! Angie reassures her, and Annie says she'll do it.
Damon finds Colby in the hospital corridor. She says him lying to her seemed like a big deal before, but it's really nothing compared to what JR is going through. She shares her feelings with him, and he tells her a story about sitting vigil with a sick cousin once, assuring her that JR knows she's there. Damon disappears before she can thank him. Colby finds Tad and Liza, who says they haven't seen Damon. Colby tells Tad that Damon helped her. Brooke takes Adam down the hall to the chapel, where Adam worries that this has happened to his son due to the terrible things he's done. Brooke says that's ridiculous! Adam prays, saying he deserves to be punished, not JR, and asking God to take him instead! Annie stands looking at JR. She talks to him, saying the person he hates most in this world is the only one who can save him. JR rasps, "Get out, you witch!" Annie says, "Gladly."
Heaven on Earth!
At the hospital, Adam flips out when Tad comes to tell him that Miguel didn't show up at the airport. Marissa comes out and asks if everything is alright, and JR wants to know when he gets to meet his little brother! As Liza reassures Colby and Scott, Adam tries to placate JR by saying the plane was diverted, but JR sees through it, and says, "He's not coming." Adam admits that he's not, he didn't get on the plane for some reason. Adam tells JR that he got tested at an outside facility and is awaiting the results. JR says he wouldn't let him risk his life anyway. JR asks to be alone with Marissa and AJ. JR tells Marissa that they have to be prepared for what may happen next. Marissa tries to reassure him that he'll be fine, but JR merely says he's selfish - even if he'd know he would get this sick when they got involved, he still would have done it - it's been like heaven on earth!
In the waiting area at the hospital, Annie tells a dubious Brooke that they should use Adam's story in Tempo - 'Captain of Industry Tracks Down Long-Lost Son to Save Other Son! Brooke doesn't think Adam would want that splashed all over the media. Adam comes out of JR's room and attacks Tad, saying this is his fault - his men in California didn't ensure that Miguel got on the plane! Liza defends Tad, saying Adam is the one who ignored the boy his entire life until he needed something from him! Adam is visibly distraught, and Brooke steps in to calm him, taking him away to sit and talk about it. Annie gapes as they walk away! Annie tries to get Adam to come with her, but the doctor appears and tells them that neither Brooke or Jamie were a match. Annie follows the doctor and pleads with her to test her, saying the family is desperate. The doctor agrees. Tad goes back in to see JR, and promises to find the kid. JR says it shouldn't be a shock that he bailed - it's not like he's family - like they are. Tad tears up, and tells JR they would have found each other even if Dixie hadn't brought them together. JR agrees, it would have been great if they were really related, but muses that sometimes life just doesn't work out the way you want. Tad leaves so Adam can have time with JR. Adam talks about the future, and JR urges him to be realistic - he can't be in denial. Adam starts to talk about how the Chandler's fight, but JR slips into unconsciousness! Everyone rushes into the room as the doctor announces he's slipping into a coma!
Over My Dead Body!
Tad is at the airport waiting for Miguel to arrive in Pine Valley. He doesn't come.
Damon arrives at the hospital, where Liza and Colby talk to him. He tells Colby that Bailey and Stuart have gone, but he won't be joining them. He admits he was arrested for the robberies. Colby is upset that he lied to her - she slaps him! Tad comes back to the hospital and informs Adam that Miguel wasn't on the plane!
For Richer or Poorer...
Adam is at the hospital telling Angie that there is a very good chance the sample from California will be a match for JR, when JR is wheeled into the hospital with Tad, Marissa, and AJ in tow! Krystal meets them there, and AJ asks if JR is going to be alright - he didn't get any cake. They distract the boy by asking him about his gifts - he tells Krystal and Adam that he's AJ now. JR's doctor comes out and tells Marissa and Tad that JR will have to be kept in the hospital indefinitely. Adam talks to Tad in the waiting area. He jumps up when Brooke walks in with Colby and Scott. She hugs both Adam and Tad, then offers to get tested. Adam thanks her.
The Chandlers, Marissa, Tad, and Krystal crowd around JR's bed as AJ has him blow out the candles on the cake. AJ gives JR the shell that his mommy gave him. JR is moved. Adam steps out and thanks Brooke for being tested. Krystal and AJ talk to her too. Marissa comes out and they introduce her to Brooke, she urges Brooke to go see JR. Brooke walks in and JR says she's just in time for another slice of cake. Colby and Scott duck out, and JR thanks her for being tested. He asks about Jamie. Brooke says he formed a basketball team for the kids in the African village. JR mentions Annie, saying his dad's taste in wives has deteriorated. He tells Brooke they've had their differences, but she helped him get sober - he wouldn't be here if it weren't for her. JR says he's sure glad she came back. Brooke leaves as Marissa comes back in. JR tells his wife he'll fight for her and AJ, but he needs her to know that she's been his life. They both cry and embrace.
In the waiting area at the hospital, Tad stands before Adam, Brooke, Colby, and Scott and announces that the results are in - they have a match! Everyone jumps up and they all share hugs!
