Upon returning to her office, Liza advises Scott to take the deal he's been offered. Scott won't let Annie burn after all she's done to protect Adam. Liza says she covered up the truth and manipulated them - then pressured Scott into hiding the truth as well! Scott denies it, but Liza asks him to trust her - she can help him out of this. Scott says he needs to think, and leaves. Marissa tells Liza this case is crazy. She then notices that Liza seems upset. Liza blows off her concern and turns to reading dispositions. JR and Tad come in and JR takes Marissa to lunch. Tad asks how she's doing. Liza comments on him giving advice to everyone. Tad says he's single-handedly making sure that Pine Valley doesn't go to hell in a handbasket. Liza tells Tad what happened with Bailey at her house. She's worried that Bailey will fall for Damon's 'happy families' line. She hollers, "They're children!" Tad says he's sorry. She sighs - she's known it was coming.
Tad shows up at the hospital and Jake fills him in on David's latest claim, and that Angie's going to test the drugs. Tad points out that Jake loves Amanda - that's why he didn't leave. He asks about Jake's job. Jake says his job is fine, but he still thinks he should give up - Amanda lives with Hayward! Tad feels that whether David lives or dies, it will all work out.
At the hospital, Tad tells Angie that he thinks David is probably faking this thing somehow. Angie says it could be true, but Tad thinks he's too much of a bastard to go that easily.
Six Months!
As David and Amanda are fighting about Jake at Wildwind, Tad shows up. He tells her they've got bigger things to worry about right now - Jake's leaving town! David and Tad bicker, then Tad asks Amanda to try to find Jake and talk to him. He leaves, and David tells Amanda that this must be difficult for her. Amanda shouts that she's done with him and his house - she's leaving now, and Trevor is coming with her! David gets defensive and says she should be thanking him! Amanda won't thank him for keeping her prisoner, and heads for the door. David blurts, "Six months!" She turns, and he explains that's how much longer he has to live! Amanda accuses him of lying - why would he be trying to have another child? David says he was doing it for Trevor, but also because his children were to be his legacy. She asks what is wrong with him. David says he has a rare blood disorder and is taking illegal drugs. Amanda is still skeptical, but David uses medical jargon to convince her. Amanda says she has to go tell Jake! After she's gone, David tells Trevor that he's perfectly healthy, saying he's not going anywhere - and neither is Amanda!
Jake is back at his house, and looks up when Tad lets himself in. Jake murmurs that giving him a key was obviously a mistake. Tad admits he went to see Amanda - and that he told her Jake was planning to leave town. They get into a huge bickering match about Amanda, and what his leaving will do to her. Tad brings up Trevor too, and says he will lose everything if he leaves. Jake replies that you can't lose what you never had!
Jake returns to his house and tells Tad he got to thinking about Trevor, and how he didn't want to leave the little guy with David - he loves him. He says he's decided to stick around. Amanda appears in the doorway and says, "You have no idea how happy that makes me." Tad leaves them alone. Amanda tells Jake that everything has changed - David is dying!
Just Rebooting!
JR coughs up blood at the Martin house and Marissa questions him - he covers by saying he cut his finger on an ornament. Opal, nearby, tells Tad she wants to get in touch with Erica. Tad says she's gone to L.A. Opal asks why, and Tad tells her it's a long story. He briefs her about Kendall and Aidan, and Opal confides that she's been having bad dreams. She cryptically says Adam's confession isn't the end of things. They all gather around for the lighting of the tree. JR plugs them in and the house goes dark! Tad fixes the circuit breaker and JR wants to get going. Little Adam asks to sleep over. Tad sees JR and Marissa out. Tad's phone rings - it's Amanda saying that Jake has quit his job, and asking him to intervene - he heads out. Krystal takes the kids for cookies and Opal picks up a photo of Kendall with a grim look on her face. Krystal comes back into the room to see Opal pulling out her tarot cards and complaining about a medicine-y smell. Opal tells Krystal that Kendall must be hurt - she's got to go to tell Zach!
Liza heads to Jake's house and is knocking at the door, when Tad arrives. He has a key and they go inside. She talks about her and Colby staying there or getting a hotel. Tad asks her with concern what is going on? They get to talking and she tells him about Zach's behavior. Tad compliments her decision not to get involved with that. Liza tears up and tells Tad she thinks she's going to lose Stuart to Bailey - what should she do? Tad agrees that Stuart is better off with Liza. She tells him she regrets going off on Zach, but she's stressed out. Tad cracks a joke and Liza smiles, thanking him for being him.
Jake arrives home to find Liza and Tad waiting. Liza tells him she needs a place to stay. Jake says she is welcome to stay there - he's moving out! Tad asks what he means - is he moving into Wildwind too? Jake replies, "What, are you on crack?" Jake gives Liza a set of keys and turns back to Tad, who tells him running isn't the answer. Jake insists he's just rebooting - he should never have come back to Pine Valley in the first place. He tells Tad he will not be able to talk him out of leaving! Tad gives up and Jake prepares all his bags to go.
There's Proof!
At the Martin house, Jake tells Tad that he keeps going deeper down the rabbit hole in this situation with Amanda. He blurts, "She had sex with him! She had sex with him!" He notes that Trevor will always be David's as well. Tad says that he has to fight for Trevor - he will counterbalance David's influence! Tad advises Jake to give it time. Jake scoffs, but Tad insists that the love they share for Trevor will keep him and Amanda connected. Suddenly, Jake gets a phone call - it's Amanda - telling him that she and David are taking Trevor to the hospital! Jake tells her he'll meet her there.
