It's time for the New Beginnings party! Josh is already on a tear, complaining about Zach's presence—and insulting Kendall by suggesting that it's Zach's prowess as a lover that keeps her married to him. He reveals Bianca and Maggie's problems. Kendall finally has had enough and suggests that this is all about his issues with Babe—not them. She tells him if he makes her choose—it's Zach all the way.
Before Erica makes her appearance, Jack surprises Erica with his presence—and a glittering diamond necklace. When Jeff shows up at her door, ready to escort her, he's in a shock.
Erica makes her appearance and the argument spreads—just as special guest Donnie Osmond arrives, and notes that "Osmond family reunions are nothing like this!" She introduces him to her family, and the tension is still thick.
When Erica and Donnie appear before the press, she announces that he will be the lead guest on her show. Afterwards, he teases her about her "husbands", and Josh complains to Jeff about Erica. He tells him about revealing the truth to JR. Later, he wanders off to chat up Erin—and suggest they hook up.
Zach and Kendall are sitting together, and he wants to know if she really meant it when she defended him. She did. They decide to leave early, since Kendall want to show him their dream house. When he gets there, he tells her that they can't live there.
Erica and her publicist are meeting to go over plans for the New Beginnings launch party. She has a hissy fit when she sees what the publicist has planned.
Josh walks by and she asks him to help. She thinks every one of his ideas are "perfect", and asks him to help plan the sweeps party. He reacts angrily, accusing her of pitying him and tells her to leave him alone. Jeff overhears the conversation and tells him not to ever speak to his mother in that way.
Erica leaves and Jeff demands that Josh talk to him. He insists Erica is reaching out to Josh—and that the least he can do is show Erica respect. Jeff lets him know that he knows about Babe. Jeff says he knows how much Josh is hurting,
Erica rushes to Jeff's to say that the Chandlers are trying to destroy Josh, and asks his help. Jeff doesn't agree and thinks Babe is a "sweet young woman." Erica's aghast—but Jeff demands she not rush off. There definitely seems to be sparks between these two.
Erica and Jeff run into each other at the same hotel. Later that evening, Erica tells Jeff that she needed a "change of scene" and assures him her marriage is fine. He doesn't buy that line, and reminds her that they were once married and he knows her well.
She claims she can't hear herself think with all the recent drama in her life, and has lost touch with herself. It's difficult for her to combine family life and her ambitions.
When Jeff hears that Jack can't accompany Erica to the New Beginnings launch, he offer to go with her, and she agrees.
Josh questions Jeff about his new living arrangements at Pine Valley Inn. Jeff admits he moved there to be closer to him. Josh appreciates Jeff's support at the trial, but he isn't ready to bond with him. Jeff still offers him and ear if he wants to talk about anything—sports, politics, etc. Josh must have taken him up on his offer because they're in the hotel room and Jeff is telling him all about Tad the Cad and about his roller coaster marriage to Erica. Josh decides to ask him what would he do if he loved a married woman.
Jeff's advice is to find out more about the husband. If he is an ass, then he would fight like hell for her. Josh says for his first paternal advice, he nailed it.
As Jeff leaves the hotel room, he runs into Erica checking in.
Josh has returned to Confusion. He tells Babe he is going to fight for her.
In the courtroom, Dixie and Kendall voiceovers are heard—both wondering if they have any future with Zach. Ryan's voiceover expresses his desire for Kendall to be safe and to form a family with Kendall and Spike. Zach wonders if he has any future with Kendall. "Do we have a chance?" wonder all of them.
In the waiting area, Jamie and Tad embrace. Dixie goes to visit Zach in the holding cell; Kendall enters and sees them. She returns home, upset, and is comforted by Ryan.
The verdict is in: Not guilty on all counts! Tad congratulates Dixie and wishes her a happy life with Zach. An anguished Josh asks Erica and Jeff "who do you think killed him?"
The court calls a recess to deal with Jamie's bombshell. JR confronts Tad; Tad tells him it's a good thing, since Jamie has put "reasonable doubt" in the jury's minds. He's standing by every word he's said.
Kendall and Zach share a charged look across the courtroom. She tries to rush out of the courtroom to talk to Jamie; Ryan restrains her. But what if Zach is telling the truth, she asks. She turns towards Zach and sees Dixie running her fingers through Zach's hair.
David sits behind Dixie and taunts her.
Jeff and Erica try to comfort an upset Josh, who tells them he didn't "ask for anything." He says he has to be there to see this trial through to the end. He just wants "an answer" to who killed Greg Madden, so he can put this behind him.
Babe sits down next to Josh, and says she doesn't know who to believe.
Erica and Jeff sit down next to Josh in the courtroom, saying they want to show their support for him. Dr Joe enters at that moment, and sits down in the back of the courtroom.
In the prosecutor's opening remarks, he claims to have ironclad evidence that Zach and Dixie committed murder.
Livia says that while Zach and Dixie had a motive, but didn't commit the murder, the prosecution evidence is circumstantial, and Tad is motivated by revenge and hate.
She cross-examines Derek; hereacts angrily when Livia accuses the police of questionable activities,
Josh has images of Julia attacking and injecting Madden; Di and Del planning to bury him; David digging the grave [but promising to release him if he tells the truth about Kate's whereabouts]; JR helping David; Dixie is observing.
Tad is called to the stand, and admits that the police bugged his house. He admits that Dixie eventually admitted to him that she and Zach were lovers. He says he saw Dixie and Zach in the airport parking lot the night Madden disappeared, and were putting a body in Dixie's car.
Livia asks Tad if it's true that he's there because Chief Frye told him if he didn't testify, he'd go after JR and Jamie for stealing evidence. Tad admits it's true.
He also admits that David helped Dixie get away from him when she was pregnant, and he believed her to be dead. Livia questions his feelings about Dixie not asking for his help in finding their daughter.
The prosecutor asks Tad about his "anger" regarding Dixie's actions, and whether that's affected his testimony. Is it the truth? Tad says it's all the truth—and Jamie and Di burst in, Jamie yelling "Liar! Everything he's said is a lie, and I can prove it."
Back at the hospital, Dr Jeff talks to Erica about Lily. She's worried that Lily's not responding to Jonathan. He tells her she was always a star, but he had blinders on. Erica explains that she wants Josh to know that he's one of the good things in her life.
The hospital is frantic with accident victims from the yacht crash all over the ER. Adam is frantically searching for Colby as Krystal tries to calm him down. At that moment, a drunk Sean rolls in and Adam tries to smack him but Krystal holds him back.
Julia talks with Lily, explaining that she needs to give her a needle as Erica and Jack watch on in torment. Lily glances at Jack for a brief moment before falling asleep. Erica tells Jack to go see if they found Sean as she watches over Lily. Erica covers up Lily trying to comfort her by telling Lily she's brought some of her favorite things from home. She wishes she could protect her forever as Jeff listens in on her. Erica starts brushing her hair talking about Lily's mother and how much she's loved.
Jack walks out and finds his very drunk nephew telling him when he sobers up, he'll be so sorry. But Sean is far too drunk and is enjoying all the hostility around him yelling that this was the best party ever!
Adam demands that Sean's blood alcohol level is put on the record immediately. Sean laughs telling them all that Colby was piloting the boat. Sidney is brought in yelling that Colby will pay for this. Erica runs out of Lily's room with the news that Lily wasn't raped and she reminds Jack that he has Jonathan to thank for because he saved her. Jack ignores her comment and walks to Lily's bed. He apologizes for not protecting her and assures Lily that Terry is gone and could never hurt her again. Jack continues, explaining he was so wrong thinking he knew what was best for her and touches her hand gently.
Outside, the EMT's call off the search for more injury victims explaining they've found everyone. Overhearing him, Adam runs up explaining that his daughter wasn't found and begs for help!
Ryan awakes to Kendall feeding Spike. He's happy to see the two of them wondering what the police said? Kendall replies that he can't protect Annie from this and Jamal took her to the police station. She also gives him some good news – that Terry is dead and Jonathan shot him. Ryan starts to get dressed to leave but Kendall tries to stop him. He insists it's just a scratch but Kendall calls for her nanny to take Spike home so he won't hear what she's about to say to his father. She demands for him to stay but gives up fighting him and starts to help him dress. In a great deal of pain, Ryan asks what's going on? Kendall tells him that she doesn't want this "hero" thing to rub off on Spike. Moments later, they head to the Police Station.
