Adam finds Dixie in his bedroom and asks why she is sleeping in his bed. She floats a pillow across the room, exposing another of Kate's adoption certificates! She locks the door so he can't leave. He receives a business call and realizes he's late for a meeting in Arizona. Dixie says he isn't going anywhere until he tells Tad the truth about Kathy/Kate. Adam opens the closet to pack and flames leap out! She produces a single suit for him to wear since his other clothes have gone up in smoke. Adam finds another adoption record in his pocket! "Lives are in the balance, Adam," she says, reminding him that this is his chance to save his soul. Adam accuses her of being too afraid to face Tad herself and gleefully tells her about Tad's new life with Krystal and Jenny. Stuart arrives and Adam asks how he got through the door. Concerned, Stuart asks who Adam was talking to. Adam admits that Dixie is haunting him! He asks Stuart to talk to Dix for him. Stuart looks at the ceiling and asks Dixie to please leave Adam alone. He rattles on about his heart and the panic attacks. A cold breeze blows through Adam. Stuart doesn't feel anything and says Adam just needs a vacation. Adam remembers the Arizona meeting but doesn't want to reopen the closet. So, he just follows Stuart out. Dixie is sitting on the bed when he slams the door. Outside, she promises he'll come through. She follows him to his private plane, pretending to be his flight attendant!
Opals Rocks Don't Scare Me!
Opal agrees to see what she can find out from Adam's ghost. She tiptoes through the sitting room as Adam chatters on about the "evil" spirit. Opal begins questioning him about what tricks the ghost has played and Adam tells her everything. He gets jumpy. Adam changes his mind about the exorcism and tells Opal he must be imagining things. He hears a whisper of wind. Dixie appears and starts giving Adam a hard time; she doesn't reveal herself to Opal. When Opal turns her back, Dixie picks up one of her crystals and moves it; Opal thinks Adam is playing tricks on her! She tells him off and storms out. Laughing, Dixie says she is there to help Adam save his soul and helping Tad find Kate is the only way to do it. Adam says his soul doesn't need saving! Dixie tells him to look in the mirror if he wants to see the future and then disappears. At the mirror, Adam's reflection turns into burning flames! "Time is running out," Dixie whispers.
Babe Knows!
At the Chandler manse, Adam places peanut butter and banana pancakes on the coffee table, waiting for Dixie. JR arrives and offers to take them to the kitchen but Adam won't hear of it. He goes to his office. Babe arrives with Little A. With the kiddo distracted with a snack, JR fills Babe in on Adam's latest weirdness. He admits he is scared for his dad. Babe tells him about the snafu with the Fusion presentation. She apologizes for not listening to him and not trusting him; he apologizes for not being more trustworthy. Little A returns and Babe takes him home. Back in the sitting room, Adam plays a music box and then hears Dixie humming. Opal arrives and Adam asks her to find out if his home is haunted!
Dangerous Operations...
Adam sees Dixie's reflection in the mirror and spins around - but no one is there! He yells at Father Clarence, asking what he wants and pretending that the visions aren't bothering him a bit. Adam thinks back and realizes the visions began when he was prescribed the anti-anxiety meds; he throws them away. In his briefcase, he finds another adoption certificate! Dixie starts laughing! She appears and when Adam isn't frightened, she snaps her fingers to make the lights flash and causes the fire in the fireplace to flare up. Adam asks what he's done to deserve a haunting and Dixie laughs again. She grabs Kate's adoption paper and says, "I'm here to help you do the right thing." Adam tells her to just give Tad the papers but soon realizes she can't. He goes upstairs but she chases him back down, saying he has to do it - and she's going to make sure he does! Colby and Cassandra walk in and ask who he is talking to; Adam says he's practicing a speech and sends the girls upstairs. When the girls are gone, Dixie reappears and begins humming. Adam says she is a lousy ghost but she was a great mother. Dix says he better start playing by her rules - or else! Then, she disappears.
Who's Crazy Now?
Adam folds the adoption decree and puts it away as Krystal asks what is going on. Adam refuses to discuss his health so JR fills in Krystal and Tad. Tad finds the situation funny and is certain Adam is faking it. They verbally spar until Krystal steps in, trying to be kind. She, JR and Tad go to the hall and watch Adam. Back in the sitting room, Adam demands that Father Clarence stop whatever he is trying to do! Adam is certain he is behind the weird happenings. He says he'll never tell Tad the truth about Kate. Adam rips up the pieces of paper and begins eating it as Krystal and the others return. He cackles at them. Tad grabs the paper and pretends to eat it; he tells JR to try some, too. Adam laughs even harder but still won't talk so Krystal and Tad leave. Adam insists he doesn't need JR's help; JR isn't satisfied but Adam won't budge so he leaves. Adam pours a drink and then hears Dixie's song again. He looks into a mirror - and there she is!
A Little Bit Of Life...
Adam asks Dixie's picture where it came from as JR arrives. Adam orders him to get rid of the photo and accuses JR of planting it! JR angrily says he had nothing to do with the picture. Adam wonders who has it out for him and tells JR about everything from the flying glass incident to the slap. JR tells him to stop because he is worrying Colby. Adam is surprised to learn that JR is only at the mansion because of Colby's worries; he tells JR to stop pitying him. "I'm not insane," he says and leaves to check in with security. JR wonders what Adam is really up to. He calls Krystal and asks for her help with Adam. Adam returns and starts shivering. Krystal and Tad arrive and JR says he thinks Adam has lost his mind! They walk into the sitting room as Adam picks up Kathy/Kate's adoption document - the same one he destroyed! Tad asks what he has.
A Dangerous Assignment!
Adam has an electrician come in to check his stereo. The worker says there is no way the stereo turned itself on. Colby suggests that it was a different stereo but Adam insists it wasn't. JR walks in and is surprised to learn that Adam's has been hearing "You Are My Sunshine". He thinks Adam is making it up. Adam freaks when JR pours a glass of water; he tells the kids about the glass moving across the room on its own. JR tells Adam to get out; to soften the blow, Colby reminds Adam that he needs to call Chandler Enterprises. Colby turns on JR, but he brings up Dixie and says Adam is just trying to get to him. Sadly, JR says he visited Dixie's grave. Colby says Adam isn't lying; she believes he might be crazy! Adam returns and sends JR off to talk to Barry. Colby tells him about JR's visit to Dixie's grave. Adam goes off on a tangent about how Dixie poisoned JR against him! JR returns and goes over the business dealings; Adam agrees with everything that is said. Colby follows JR out and asks him to give Adam another chance. Back in the sitting room, a picture of Dixie falls from a table.
Digging Up ... Elephants?
Adam is sleeping in a chair at the manse. He wakes and sees the curtains moving but no one answers when he calls out. Then he realizes that all the buttons are missing from his shirt. Adam takes the shirt off and is checking the doors when JR walks in. Adam tells him about the missing buttons but JR doesn't think anything of it. Instead he tells Adam that the board meeting went well but is annoyed when Adam doesn't praise his efforts. JR takes the papers from him, saying that the contract is fine. Adam takes a pill, which makes JR wonder what is going on. They argue about JR taking over some of Adam's duties. Seeing that Adam isn't going to give up any control, JR storms out. Adam pours a drink but the glass slides away from him - and then smashes against the fireplace! The stereo turns on and Adam can't turn it off!
Don't Ignore Me!!
JR arrives at the Chandler manse where Adam is waiting. Adam speaks calmly about his failing health, which makes JR very worried. Adam says he has to promise not to tell Colby or Babe or Krystal about anything else. JR thinks Adam is about to admit he is dying and is flummoxed when Adam simply asks JR to help because he isn't up to par. He shows JR a few deals that he spearheaded that went badly and begs JR for help. JR can't believe it. Adam says he won't give up control of the company and he isn't trying to control JR. "But you're the only one I trust," he says. Colby arrives. She tells him about her research into panic attacks; the more she talks the more upset Adam becomes. JR sees Adam's growing panic and interrupts her. They argue, giving Adam time to recover. His laughter finally stops their tirades against one another. He says this is the first glimpse of normalcy he's seen in weeks. She asks what is going on with them and JR says he was asking Adam for business advice. She tells JR to keep things calm and goes upstairs. Adam compares his panic attacks to JR's alcohol addiction and says he understands JR better now. JR assures Adam that he'll be fine and says he'll help in any way he can.
Let's Talk Prenups!
JR and Babe arrive at the hospital. They hear him yelling for a "real" doctor when Frankie tries to help. Angie goes inside as Adam is berating Frankie, and tells him to calm down. Angie returns to lead them inside so they can all talk to Adam about his latest episode. JR says Adam is at fault because he didn't follow doctor's orders the first time. Angie cuts in and asks what Adam has been doing lately and Colby chimes in that he has been lounging around in his jammies most days. Angie turns to Adam and asks what is really going on with him. He admits that he thought he was having a heart attack and it's happened before. Angie says he is likely having panic attacks. He angrily says he isn't afraid of anything and then has another attack! Angie medicates Adam and while he is feeling no pain says he has to do something to deal with the stress in his life. Colby goes outside with Frankie, who warns Colby that Adam needs to take the stress diagnosis seriously. Back inside, Adam tells Krystal, JR, Colby and Babe to get out. JR and Colby stay with him but Krystal and Babe leave the room. They commiserate about not being able to leave the Chandler men behind. Back in the hospital room, Colby and JR offer him a deal: if he'll follow doctor's orders to the letter, they will stop being so hot-headed and stressful for him. Angie returns and gives Adam the name of a psychologist who can help him. Adam wads up the paper and tells JR to take him home. Krystal grabs him and begs him to try the psychologist. He runs his fingers along his jaw and then tells JR to drive him home.
