All My Children has been on the air for 38 years now and the show will continue to thrive with stories of love, passion, betrayal, loss, and triumph that surround the daily lives of many residents of Pine Valley, Pennsylvania.

We want to thank the woman who is responsible for making AMC an enduring legacy on daytime television for over the past 3 decades: the creator of this show, Agnes Nixon.

And that brings me to ask you a very particular question.

How did Nixon really come up with the title?

I was thinking that Agnes Nixon looks at the cast as all her children, and that is why she titled the show "All My Children"! I may be wrong, but that is my idea!

Thats a really good theory, but I think she got the title from poem that is in...or used to be in the opening credits...not sure if it is still there or not.

This is that poem

The Great and the Least,
The Rich and the Poor,
The Weak and the Strong,
In Sickness and in Health,
In Joy and Sorrow,
In Tragedy and Triumph,
You are all my children

A Funny Thing is that My Mother thought that Everybody was Phoebe Tyler's Children. I thought that Everybody was Somebody's Child. Joe was Kate Martin's Child. Tara was Joe's Child. Little Philip or Charlie was Tara's Child. Erica was Mona's Child and It Kept Going on like that. However, Agnes Nixon Found This Poem and It Turns out that God was Saying that so This is All God's Children. Everybody is God's Children and The Poem was Saying that The Great and the Least, The Rich or the Poor. In Joy or Sorrow. Through Tragedy and Triumph. You are All My Children. That is God's Way of Saying that He Accepts Everybody and Agnes Nixon I'm sure Loved that Idea that All People are Basically Good even Ray Gardner. Hey, Even Ryan Lavary is Basically Good. LOL ! Hey, if God can Accept Ryan; then We should be able to Accept Ryan. LOL ! Jody

No, Nick Davis Read This Letter that was From Mona and it was Supposed to be Read to Bianca. That was on the 35th Anniversary Episode. Joe Martin had been at the Hospital for 35 Years. The Camera was on Joe and Ruth Dancing when it said Joy and The Camera was on Brooke who was Worried about Jamie being on the Run when it said Sorrow. I Loved when The Camera was in the Middle of Bianca and Miranda when it said In Tragedy and In Triumph. The Tragedy was when Miranda was Dead and Bianca was in A Coma and The Triumph was when Miranda was Alive and Bianca Woke Up From A Coma. Jody

Actually, Agnes Nixon wrote that poem. It epitomizes the goal of All My Children's storytelling, and the title of the show refers to the brotherhood of man. Ms. Nixon believed that it doesn't matter who people are, what they look like, or where they came from because every human being is a child of God.
