Ryan tells Kendal that he is signing over his parental rights to Spike. Out of the clear blue, why would he do this when he clearly loves that little guy? As much as I want Zach to be his father, (and I read it is impossible for him to be unless he too is a 'donor') I'm confused as to where this is going. He's Emma's father, so why does he give up Spike?

I honestly think they just showed a "clip" of the conversation to make us think that. I believe he used it in a completely different context. Something like, "Oh yea Kendall, right, I'd sign away my parental rights to Spike". I think it was sarcasm.
