OK folks here's a positive thread. with a lot of negativity about the show lately, (some deservedly so), tell me what was the best story line you have seen in the past 5 years.

I have mine, but lets hear from you guys and gals first.

Go to it!!!

There's no doubt which one MY favorite was. And I would be willing to bet it's the same as yours, CT!

I just wish we could have seen it continue. No AMC storyline ever moved me the way that one did. Incredible storyline and phenominal acting. Sounds like a good combination to me. We definitely need more of that storyline and others like it. JMO

I so agree with you Bella! The last 5 years and that is the only one that sticks out in my mind as a must see. The chemistry was so wonderful and you could feel the passion. It made you want to tune in and not miss an episode. I can't really think of another s/l that has drawn me to it like that one did in this time frame. It was far and above the other happenings on the show and could have gone so much higher...I still believe one day...........

Hey wannazach. You aren't the only one who "still believes." A bunch of us do and we keep hoping and praying they will someday grace Pine Valley again! We don't even have to mention their names, yet we all know who we are talking about.

Too bad TPTB don't listen to the fans. If they did, we could have the storyline we want returned, and AMC would, no doubt, get a major boost in ratings in the process. It would definitely be a win/win for AMC!

And no nasty poles required to get it done.

Personally, I would like to take that "pole" and wrap it around the "Head of ABC Daytime's" neck!!

Well his neck wasn't my first choice of where to put it but OK.

Well, now that you mentioned it. He COULD use a little "brass" up his "arse" too!

Do we dare hope for a return someday? And does anyone know what the ratings did during that storyline? And my last question is, who's idea was it to end?

I had understood from my daughter that it was the actor's decision because he had other things in the works. I guess one of them was the Broadway play. If so, I guess our loss is Broadway's gain. What an actor!!!!

The actor was already committed to doing Hamlet in Wash., DC BEFORE signing on to do the role. Fans hoped that the actor would return and continue the storyline after his Hamlet commitment was completed, especially considering how they "left the door open" for a possible return. Both characters even "extended" their contracts with AMC to get the storyline to a stopping point before they left.

As far as the ratings go, they rose from a dismal 2.1/2.2 (where they are currently lingering now) up to a 2.6 and were still rising at the time the characters left. Considering the storyline was only on for 5 months (and was also intertwined with the horrible SS storyline for part of that time), this was quite a boost in ratings for AMC. Since discontinuing the storyline and the departure of the characters last April, the ratings have steadily gone downhill and haven't recovered since.

I'm not saying that their departure is the only reason ratings have taken a nosedive, but I would be willing to bet it's likely one of the biggest reasons. The storyline garnered a huge new fan base for AMC, and many of those fans left once the storyline was discontinued.
