I have been a follower of AMC since 1973. I was only 16 and had no idea what SOAPS were until then. However AMC is the only soap that I watch and I can tell you that no matter how many times a character is replaced, the original character will always stand out in our minds and we will always find fault with the new character. Each new character brings with them their own personality and some may not seem to "fit" the old character. We also know that replacing certain characters on AMC would be taboo and the end of an era. You could never replace the likes of Erica Kane or Adam Chandler. As in Jesse and Angie Hubbard. These two made their characters real and are a part of the AMC family. Having other actors to recreate their part would be less convincing as in Greenlee's character. We all have come to love the original Greenlee, the original Babe and the original Dixie and replacing them with someone else just doesn't seem right. However those who have followed the story lines from 1970 know that those icons from that era have not been replaced as in Phoebe, Mona and Clint and Kitty. I'm sure it's not easy to step into a character and be accepted by us viewers especially when we have come to love the orginal character. These new actors and actresses deserve a chance to become shining stars. Maybe some day they may become one of AMC most prestiges icons. |

I've been watching since 1970 ... I was a wee child on my Mama's knee!! Yes ... I miss all the old stars from earlier days ... and I can agree. Just as long as respect is held for each actor ... OLD AND NEW!! ... that's the thing we need to remember!! |
