Former head writer Megan Mc.Tavish has ripped a new one over the heads of current writers James Harmon Brown, and Barbara Esensten over crossing the picket lines to continue writing for the daytime soap.

Both Harmon-Brown and Esensten cite the financial strain of the strike as the main reason why they asked for, and received approval to keep writing even though their fellow writers are on strike. Mc.Tavish isn't buying the reasons they give.

Mc.Tavish said that both Brown and Esensten are not struggling to make mortgage payments, or to feed their kids. Their sole intent to to pile up more money for themselves.

Does Megan have a point, or is this sour grapes??!!

Megan definitely has a point! And, why should she have "sour grapes" ..... she's now a consultant with Y & R (the TOP RATED soap on daytime). The writers strike has put a lot of other people out of work too (i.e. actors who can't get employment right now BECAUSE of the strike). Why should THEY (Brown & Esensen) get special treatment. It's not like AMC is missing them or anything. The writing that AMC's "fill-ins" are doing right now isn't any worse than theirs was.

IMO, I think they BOTH know their writing days are coming to an end at AMC (at least everyone certainly hopes so). I'm sure they would like to come back and "make a few bucks" before they are permanently out of work! I think they see the writing on the wall, and the new 1.8 rating AMC just fell to (tied for last place among ALL soaps), isn't going to help them.

Megan McT was a "genius" compared to these two. I would give my right arm to have Megan back. Frons blamed all of AMC's problems on her when, in fact, HE IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM AMC HAS EVER HAD!!

Personally, both Brown and Esensen should be kicked out of the union and no longer have union representation. I'm sure there are other writers who are also under a "financial strain" and in much worse shape than they are, yet they continue to picket. I hope the union keeps them from ever getting any other work as they are no better than the scabs who replaced them.

For me, it's just yet another reason NOT TO WATCH AMC any longer. B & E are allowed to come back while other writers are still walking the picket lines trying to get better benefits and pay (which they will also benefit from). If nothing else, Brown and Esensen SHOULD NOT be given the same benefits that other the writers are picketing and negotiating for because they chose NOT TO participate in strike, but instead chose to "break the picket line" for their own benefit. Even the actors and actresses from the soaps are walking the picket lines WITH their writers in support of them.

That just tells me what kind of people Brown and Esensen are!

I would give anything if Megan McT were back with AMC, but she probably laughed all the way over to Y & R when she became a consultant there. Her storylines had depth and meaning. The only bad storyline she ever did was the Satin Slayer storyline. And, I'm sure she was under orders from Frons to "kill off" those characters in that storyline (i.e. Simone, Dixie, Erin, etc.). As a writer, she does not make the decisions as to who "stays and goes" on the soaps. She has to write based upon what TPTB want.

I will forever be in her debt, because she brought us Zoe (and the ONLY storyline that boosted AMC's ratings in over 3 years ...... the TG storyline)! Some may have disliked it (like any other storyline), but AMC was sitting at a 2.6 when Zoe left in April (and still rising in the ratings). It has gradually dwindled down to a 1.8 since Zoe left.

Frons keeps saying he wants to raise ratings, but he won't bring back the one storyline that WILL raise them considerably. He has even said in interviews that bringing back the REAL Greenlee, Jesse and Angie isn't likely to raise ratings and he doesn't expect them to. Well then, why did he spend SOOOOOO much money doing all those "promotions", especially when AMC is supposedly in financial trouble!

The only storyline I really hated was the s/l with the Satin stalker and who it turned out to be. It was a real let-down, otherwise, I had no issue with the writing. I don't particularly care for the writing now. Aiden and Kendall going to bed was a REAL Clunker, IMO.

Hi Celticbelle. You won't get any argument from me on that one. A great storyline with a great actor. And so much more to tell too. I would love to see it continued someday. Maybe if ABC ever fires Frons (like he seems to enjoy doing to everyone else), we just might get to see a Zoe return! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!!
