What an insult!

Sabine has my admiration. In all of this she has continued to poor her heart and soul into her portrayal, although I really don't know at what point she found out. She is still a trouper and is handling herself in a much more professional, lady like manner. She is so much or a better person. Rebecca really irritates me thinking that she will make all the difference and save the show. |

I read somewhere that she is taking greenlee back to the way she was before- so any growth and maturity that the character had gained in the past year will be gone. I can understand her wanting it to be her greenlee again but at least realize things have happend that have changed greenlee. I don't see how they are going to make that kind of regression believable. |

I've been away for a while due to so much bickering and other things on the board but before I left all you read was dish on THE NOW Greenlee and now that she's leaving all is not well in the valley. The commercials are in such bad taste and if the fans wanted to STICK TOGETHER that bubble could bust after all the hype the REAL, I guess the Greenlee we've been seeing has just been a figment of our imagination. My take is the REAL Greenlee that's making a big comeback with dagger in hand needs to stay in the play pen and let the REAL woman continue her job. Readers seem to forget the power They have on keeping the show on the air, it's not all about the writers ya know! |

I'm convinced that it was the fans that created this situation. In the beginning, when SS came on the scene, everyone hated her couldn't stand her, etc ... not just here but other areas too ... this made Frons go to pursue RB more. Now, I like RB better in the role but I could've lived with SS' portrayal of Greenlee. But no, I went back on here (approx 70 pgs) and people did nothing but bash SS who are now singing her praises. And yes, things change. This habit happened to the Annie character, Leven's alter ego Ava and all. This negativity causes TIIC not to give more time to a contract or in RB's case, court the original actress. So, much of this is due to popular demand. Now the way it was handled in delivering the news to SS is purely Frons ... not the fans, not RB, no one but Frons' camp. I feel it's really unfair to turn this into a thing against RB. It's really off-putting the way people are talking about her cause she's stating how she plans to handle the character she originated. Yes ... she didn't come back right away, yes the role was recast, but this scenes happen all over the acting world ... some handled in the right way ... some not so much. I'm not going to stab RB in the back and I'm not going to slander SS. This was all a horrible situation and let's place blame where blame is .... on FRONS & camp. His people put out the commercial not RB. |

It is not the fans that created this situation. There was a note posted from the agency that reps Sabine and Rebecca, which basically verified that if Rebecca didn't come back Sabine was staying. TPTB were happy with Sabine but always had a standing offer with Rebecca. (Too bad Sabine didn't know about that-- which the note also confirmed). |

We still don't know how accurate that note is. And if SS mgr read the contract right they might have noticed all the clauses they had in there. I'm sure ABCD had themselves covered. |

Look at all the fans SS gained ... if she never got the job even for the short time ... we'd never know her. No one remembers her OLTL guest role. Of course AMC was covered in the contract. That's already been established. That doesn't change what Sabine was led to believe. But even that aside, I guess yes I would have been upset that she was fired for Rebecca to come back, but what is the BIG problem for me is how Sabine has been treated by ABC to do this. It's unnecessarily mean-spirited and demeaning. Starting with how they told her with only 4 days notice and now with this promotional campaign. I just don't see a reason why they had to go about it in such a callous way. It's inexcusable. And the fact that Sabine earned any fans at all is entirely to her credit, given that her Greenlee came on the scene with a bone to pick with EVERYONE it seemed, she took Spike, injured him, caused Kendall's other baby to be born early, etc etc. It was a great opportunity and Sabine's own statements in the Soap Opera Digest show she is grateful for it. But her fans that she has earned, we're left out in the cold by this as well. Great that she got the opportunity so we could know who she is, but not great that she was treated horribly or that she was taken away from her fans to make way for Rebecca's one year guest stint. I just don't like how this was handled. Even if she had NO fans, she didn't deserve to be treated this way. |

I would love to see Sbine back on AMC in an original role-she has already proven she has chemistry with the key players there-or OLTL. But if that doesn't happen then I will watch what ever she does next. I believe she was treated badly so I will continue to send my letters-which BTW don't say anything negative about Rebecca. Just positives about Sabine. I won't stop watching AMC-or threaten to-unless it doesn't hold my attention anymore-I tivo anyway so I ffd thru the stuff I don't want to see. On a diff subject. Soapkid, I love your avatar- it is so cute. |

The responsibility is with the writing on the show. Over time viewers have left by the thousands. TPTB hope to bring back whatever viewers left with Rebecca when she left 2 years ago. The unfortunate thing is that in doing that, they are forgetting about those of us who STUCK AROUND. Who bought into Sabine as Greenlee and some of us who preferred her as Greenlee. We didn't abandon the show just because an actress left. There will always be some who never appreciated Sabine and there are those who did. We aren't responsible for how Frons has handled this. Oh and on SoapNet there is a new quiz and it starts with something like Now that the REAL Greenlee is back AMC is must-see TV again! Ugh..!! Well, I personally, was never a Rebecca fan. I always thought she was "a little full of herself." (I think she has a much higher opinion of herself than anyone else has of her). She didn't give two hoots about AMC when she decided to leave 2 years ago. Personally, I was actually glad she did leave. Now (obviously because she CAN'T find any other work) she has decided that she "misses the role she created and loved." OH PLEASE!!! What she misses is the steady paycheck and her face in front of a camera! Furthermore, I'm getting sick of the actors and actresses leaving their roles, and when things don't work out, they want their roles back and want to return to the show. All the "coming and going" by these people DOES NOT help with the consistency of the show. If they decide to leave, fine. Either replace them or kill them off! But STOP with the coming and going crap. AMC might as well put in a revolving door for its actors because that's all they do. If an actor wants to explore other avenues, then they should do it when they are on vacation. (That's what they do on other soaps)! Why would anyone want to "invest" themselves in a soap that "changes and replaces characters on the show constantly." They either want the job, or they don't! PERIOD! Stop all the "coming and going" crap and get some stability on the show. AMC changes and replaces characters faster than I change my underwear!! Remember, anyone and everyone CAN BE REPLACED!! Fans will get use to the replacements (if they are decent actors, of course) as long as they know they are there for the betterment of the show itself. Viewers aren't stupid! We know actors who have been in certain roles for an extended period of time want to occasionally leave to try something different. We can deal with that. But don't leave and expect a show to "hold your job" for you because you created the character and might want to return. (Wouldn't we ALL love to have a job like that!!!) Just move on and leave it up to the viewing audience to get used to your replacement. We eventually will. And if we don't like the replacement, we will yell and scream at TPTB until they find someone better. Allowing actors to "come and go" like AMC does is very poor business practice. People get hurt and it is not fair to the other actors. The ones who REALLY suffer from it, however, are the show's FANS!! They are the ones who really get screwed, no matter which way things turn out! |

Soapkid, I love your avatar- it is so cute. Thanks about the avatar. There's no doubt that SS gaining fans is to her credit ... I NEVER DISLIKED HER IN THE ROLE ... go back 70ish pages ... I was the one telling everyone to give her a chance. I'm glad she was here that I got to know her. I don't like the way ABCD handled this at all ... but I don't blame RB for anything either. She's just trying to make a living like any of us. ABCD did this to SS not RB. I want her to stay on AMC but just not as Greens now since RB is coming back. I would've been fine with her staying Greens but ... that's the power they have when you "run the show" ... you get to run it as great or not so much as you want. |
