it was 1970 I like to see old shows, especially soaps & variety shows, the back props, the scenes......& then with technology today....you don't even need actors....all computer generated!!!.......Do ya'll realize, that when we were born, a computer would not fit in our home!!!!....and now, it fits in the palm of your hand.......so, along with technology, acting has also improved!!!

blessings, 18ww

Quote 18WheelersWife: Used to do all three....from 1-4, when they all went to an hour. Now, just AMC, but may start watching GH again, with AQ "coming back"......

The first soap I can remember watching was Dark Shadows......I would run home from school, & watch, when my mom was at work or school. Then I would have nightmares, & momma would whup me for watching.....and the next day........after DS, The Munsters, & Gilligan's Island came on. Can you tell I am a product of the early 70's......the show "That 70's show".....well, other than in GA, instead of WI, that was pretty much us!!!!......I dated the boys like Hyde.....drove momma crazy!!!!!

I used to watch Dark Shadows until my older sisters got home from school and then Mighty Mouse would come on.
We moved to Kansas and the shows were all different, not as good.

As I recall, it scared me too, especially the music at the beginning w/the waves hitting the rocks. I also had nightmares w/The Twilight Zone and Mary Hartman but that was yrs. later when I was a teenager and it came on at midnight.

Quote lotusbutterfly: i'm 43 and have been watching amc on and off since 1971
i've watch GH faithfully since 1976.

I used to cut out pictures of Luke and Laura before they were huge. I had them pasted on my bedroom wall and mom never said anything. She was cool about it! I don't get into G.H. anymore, I don't know why, even when they brought Scorpio and Anna, it just wasn't the same as it was when they were all younger.

I have always loved AMC. I loved Tara and then Jenny w/Greg and couldn't wait until Ray Gardner was taken off. What a creep! I never understood the attraction Erica had w/Nick? He was so much older than her and not very attractive as I recall. Brooke was a favorite because she was kind. Tom Cudahey and Brooke made a very cute couple and I was so sad when he left the show. Not quite sure Erica was with him, he wasn't her type. I think it would be refreshing to see Jackson and Brooke hit it off. She would make him very happy and Erica needs to be single for a while until she can appreciate a good man!

I just turned 51 in February. I started watching in High School when erica and Jeff were divorcing. I leave periodically, but I always return.

I am 54 this month I started watching when it first began me my mom and my sister. This is the only soap I have ever been interested in. I started second shift in the late 80s and lost track. Didnt think about recordin duh it. I am now on disability and thank goodness for Dvr I tape it every day and watch it at night while my hubbie takes his nap in the recliner. I just recently got back into the show and I got in on the good stuff. So I guess you can say I am back on the right track now being an AMC fan.

I think age might have something to do with it, but I also think how long someone has been watching also matters. I don't remember Trevor for example (someone called him the pork chop and I have been watching long enough to know they found him in a freezer -- the writers must like frozen corpses because I think the youngest Cambias son was a popsicle for a while. LOL). I know Trevor was Amanda's (I love Amanda) dad and the husband of the crazy lady. I don't know if he was attached to anyone else or not but Erica mentioned him the other day. So for someone sort of new like me, I probably would have different favs than someone else.***********

Janet from another planet is an incredible actress. They need to rehabilitate her and bring her more into the show. I love when these programs have the not so perfect looking people work out their lives. I would love for them to even find a guy for her.*********

I absolutely love Zoe. She is just a delight -- such a drama queen with a great big heart. Someone else said they hope Zoe has a good day where he's not treated like dirt.****

I think we who watch these soaps sometimes need to see someone get their comeuppance. There is a word for that but I can never remember it. I first heard it on Boston Legal - it's a German word starting with sh (dang now that is going to bother me) LOL ******

I would like for the chief of police to realize that persecution and prejudice is not just a thing of "color." It involves all types of persecution. If the writers read here, we viewers like it when good things or the right thing happens sometimes. Something major should happen so that the police chief realizes being persecuted is not just about being black, and JR with his prejudice needs to have some type of an encounter with Zoe so he can see her as a good person. Of course we need the JR's unreasonable prejudice so we can appreciate how it feels. But still, I hope JR has some type of encounter where Zoe saves his ass (are we allowed to say ass here?) and he rethinks his personality flaw - and IMO prejudice is a personality flaw and sort of a *gang up on the weak* mentality. ******

I just love AMC for not being afraid to bring out the prejudices. Some shows may be afraid to go there. *****

So sorry to hear you have lupus. My daughter was diagnosed with lupus, but it is not the really bad type. In fact, I read that a lot of young girls were being diagnosed with lupus. She is 28. I am OLDER THAN DIRT. lol *****

I'm sort of new to these boards and I found them by accident when I thought they killed off Todd on OLTL. BTW, speaking of that soap, if you watch, the other day it came out that Vicki's daughter died from complications of lupus.****

Anyway, glad to meet you -- and everyone. Fair Shar

i also watch dark shadows

OMG, I didn't know Dark Shadows was still on. The only thing that bugged me about it is that they didn't really have very deep plots. I watched anyway. I was at home with a little baby...then I went back to work and then figured Dark Shadows was gone forever. When is it on and what channel?
