All My Children - MESSAGE BOARDS

I have watched AMC since the beginning, and have endured boring story lines over the years. Lately, I can barely watch it anymore. Thank goodness I dvr it and ff through most of it. I really don't like most of the characters anymore...so I'd like to make a few suggestions after they move to LA:

1) How about bringing back some old time favorites. In the beginning it was the Martins and the Tylers. Then came the Courtlands (what ever happened to Palmer??) and the Chandlers.
2) How about having one (or more) of the Tylers coming back to rebuild the old Tyler mansion, or just move back. I really miss Brooke. What about Chuck, or Charlie/Phillip.
Bring back the Martins. I liked when they brought Jeff back, what about Tara....never hear of her at all. And even Jamie.
4) The Courtlands...Nina and Cliff...and recast Petey. Too much of a nerd to be Tads brother. He and Tad never had any interaction, even though the now live together.
5) The Chandlers.... nephew Ross or daughter Skye. Where did they ever go that they were never heard from again.
6) Adam's character is so ridiculus now with someone about 50 years younger than him....but all of you get mad at the Ryan/Erica matchup. We need a strong business type like he used to be and Palmer used to be.
7) We need some more scandals...like extra marital affairs..etc. There are no good couples anymore that you'd like to see together. Tad needs a good match...as does Liza. Jake is too whiney, Ryan too annoying, and PLEASE PLEASE recast Scott. I can not stand to look at him. He is the worst actor on the show. I even hate his walk!
We need a better "gathering" spot. I do not like the set of Confusion. Remember the Goal Post with Tom Cudahy...or even the dress shop with Myrtle.
9) The characters need to get some jobs!! Besides the doctors (and we need some new nurses) no one works!! Scott, Adam, JR, Ryan, Tad, Erica, Annie, Amanda, Opal, Randi, Taylor....are all home all day...just going from house to house. BORING!!!

God, ronel, you made me homesick with your observations! Thanks for helping me to remember why I loved AMC so much at one point. And yes...we need better meeting spots than Confusion with that horrible dance track playing over the actors' lines half the time. I really miss Livia and Tom, Nina and Cliff, etc. I am hoping the forty-year anniversary in January is filled with tons of clips of the good ole days...

Both of you are right. Bring back the history that made Pine Valley a place to visit every day and when we really cared about the citizens. Combine the history with new characters to attrack newer viewers.

When they had the Myrtle tribute I was sure someone was going to reopen her shop. I was hoping Randi and Carmen would be partners and we could have learned more about their history. But the writers missed another storyline opportunity.

I am worried about what the move to Los Angeles will do to those we care about and what these writers think we want to see each day.

Good post Ronel.I had forgotten about Ross.Was he Palmer's son with Adam's sister and Adam adopted him, I can't remember.And I totally agree that Adam with a trophy? wife is rediculous. He got bored with Brooke and Liza and even Erica, sorry, the list could go on and on, BUT Annie is his soul mate? I think he needs more Kool-aid or David juice to believe that.

Good suggestions.

But, since all they seem to want to do with this move to LA is bring back "dead" characters, I have another suggestion: Go ahead and bring back Greenlee, Babe, Dixie, Jillian, etc. Then change the soap's name to "All my DEAD Children." All the characters could live in an alternative universe Pine Valley and hookup with whoever they wanted whenever they wanted with no consequences - no inconvenient pregnancies (no babies get born to dead people), no one ever dies (they're already dead), no one ever ages. Seems like just the thing for this crop of writers. They can do all those 1950's plots they like so much that are so annoying to today's viewers. Shucks, they don't even have to write new scripts - just re-do the ones these dead characters were in before. Just think of all the money the producers could make.

1.My first suggestion would be to recast Palmer(someone Adam's age) as James Mitchell is already nearing 90. And all of a sudden their business clashes are reborn. Although it'll be quite a challenge and Mitchell is irreplaceable.
2. The Erica/Ryan/Greenlee love triangle will be really fun to watch and it'll be interesting as this will lead to a lot of sexy cat fights between Erica and Greenlee. And Annie will surely be thrown to the mix as she won't stand Greenlee possibly raising Emma. Maybe it'll be Annie's turn to make a deal with the devil(Hayward) where he has someone kidnap Greenlee and send her off some place safe just to protect her. This will lead Ryan to go on the run just to locate Greenlee.
3. Would like to see what Ryan will do to David if he ever finds out that he was the one who kept Greenlee alive all these months
4. Apply the SORAS to Emma! Why not cast someone like Dakota Fanning as Emma although I'm sure they'd prefer a teenager with a boob job! Casting Dakota will at least have a chance in boosting AMC Ratings. She'll go through so much drama in the Chandler Mansion and with her father's personal life that she'll pretty much descend into an abyss seeking some type of psycological help! That would be interesting to watch. Plus she'll become rebellious as all teens are.
5. Integrate the Hubbards with Liza. I believe Frankie still has a son out there named William Hubbard correct? And aunt Liza is already in town so maybe they could come up with a storyline where Liza had something to do with giving her sister's baby away or something and they all find out about that and confront her. Maybe David would be involved or maybe they could have David victimize Randi this time as David kept saying that Randi looked so familiar at parties. He could blackmail her somehow and this may destroy Frankie and Randi's relationship. Maybe David is the one that gave up William some place who knows or maybe Liza made the deal with David to give William up to this family but instead he will like FINDERS KEEPERS!!! and hid him someplace.
6. Bring back Dixie and kickstart the whole Tad/Dixie romance and have David attempt to destroy their lives some more. I've had enough with this Jake/Amanda/David love triangle!!!
