All My Children - MESSAGE BOARDS

When I moved away, it was sometimes hard to talk to Mom about stuff. She was negative and I was a depressive so too much talking wasn't good for either one of us. Then she started talking about Biana, Kendall, Erica, Adam, and Tad. I didn't know who they were. But it gave us a safe level ground on which to communicate. I started watching "her" soap and before long it became mine too. I moved back home and got a job here. At the end of my work day, she would be waiting at the door to fill me in on what happened that day. When we got Soapnet on dish, she would watch it again with me that night. We bonded over AMC and all their problems which were so much worse than our own. Often times they made us feel really smart because they did such stupid things. We laughed, cried, got angry, grieved over lost characters, complained, and then turned it on and watched some more. Though I don't like what is happening to the show, it will always have a special place in my heart.

I was gonna post something simular a while back,but could not think how to word it.also puzzles and gin rummy were conversation openers for me and my mom. i think i hang on to amc for the memories now, not much other reasons to now, sadly.

:D Thats nice, Jennistars! I'm glad to hear that. Sometimes people "fall out" and never talk again, one of them passes away leaving the other one wondering why they weren't talking to begin with. I'm glad AMC was good for something worthwhile.

Thanks for your comments. Puzzles for your mom too? Mine loves puzzles but her vision is getting bad and its been a while since she has worked on one. We still have All My Children tho.
