Lefty, I like your theory about the gun accidentally going off, but based on interviews with head writer Charles Pratt, I think it is an actual person who pulled the trigger. Mr. Pratt said in an interview that if you paid close attention to the "romantic entanglements" on the show you can figure out the killer.
Now we all know how soaps work (dragging things on for months) so I am going to assume the current crop on the front burner (David, Zach, and Kendall) are innocent. Who had motivation to kill Adam but nobody is currently paying attention to that person?

Here is my guess....RYAN!!!

Here is why: Ryan saw Kendall and Zach leave the hospital when they thought Ian died...we know he followed both to the mansion, and he wants to protect Kendall (god help us all!). Ryan tried to blame Zach for the past few weeks so the attention was diverted from him (the actual killer). Once Kendall became the prime suspect it was he who reccommended Zach and Kendall marry (once again to protect Kendall, but equally important to keep Kendall a suspect so he is not implicated at some point).

Notice how Ryan keeps getting strange calls on his cell phone? Who is he talking to...covering his tracks and hiding evidence? Why is Ryan trying so hard to find the killer? Because he did it and he wants to make sure nobody else finds out!

Istill think it was an accident and Stuart death was caused by the gun hitting the floor.This way none of the main actors have to go to prison.

I THINK SCOTT KILLED HIS FATHER THINKING IT WAS ADAM. BECAUSE HE WAS GOING TO TAKE OVER THE COMPANY,NOT HE AND JR TOGETHER AS IT IS NOW

I don't think it was Scott but Ryan does make sense but also does Liza. She has the most to lose if all her secrets come out then Colby for sure would hate her. Also the supposed baby that really is Amanda's.

i think either Scott or Adam did it ...Adam knew there were people there who wanted to kill him so he might have just been messed up enough to just shoot before actually seeing who he was shooting at then he and Annie took off before he realized who he shot or maybe he didn't even member shooting anybody at the time... i think if it was Adam he would be in a nut house for a while because knowing he killed Stuart will really mess him up

I think Adam is plausible as well. When Stuart was dying he was saying how he must die to pay for what he'd done. Maybe he was in a state of delirium and shot Stuart thinking he was killing himself.

I still like Ryan for this though. Only because he had no business at Chandler mansion. How'd he know where Kendall was?

Bless your heart, MissChef, you have an amazing memory! I am probably wrong anyway on Ryan being the killer based on what you said, but Charles Pratt is not the sharpest crayon in the box, so anything is possible right?

I think Adam killed his own brother. Think about it

Whoever it is I don't know...but I'm going to miss David Canary playing Stuart! He did such a great job with that character!

I think Marissa killed Stuart. Actually, I think Marissa may have killed Dixie (targeting Babe) and that is why the whole Alexander Cambias book thing came up prior to Stuart's murder. It's classic daytime murder mystery. Change the backstory to accommodate a new plot (Cambias didn't kill Dixie so who did?) Bring in a connected character with a different storyline, use her/him peripherally so noone will suspect they are connected to the murder mystery (Marissa.) I think Marissa is a smart cookie who is either deranged (mistreated as a child by the couple who BOUGHT her- maybe she even killed them) or has post-traumatic stress disorder from her parents' deaths. Maybe she killed "Adam" because she heard Krystal, JR, or David say they wanted him dead and she either wanted to help one of them or frame them. She is clearly after JR- she has already used little A to get close to him, and maybe is flirting with Scott for the same reason. Maybe she wants Babe's life, what she thinks she deserved. One of the murder witnesses questions said they saw a redhead- we are meant to think it was Liza, but Marissa is also a redhead. We saw those mysterious female legs walking around the mansion during the murder- so I think the murderer was a woman. And is it just me or lately does she seem to be more sympathetic to David the more evil he gets?
