BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Daytime Emmy Award-winning actress Julia Barr worked with the Fort Wayne Community Theater. After that, she attended Purdue University where she was in several productions including Our Town, A Streetcar Named Desire & Endgame. Barr also had an Off-Broadway role in Kerouac.

Julia joined All My Children in 1976 in the role of Brooke English. Barr took a 15 month hiatus to tour with Kathryn Hepburn from 1980 - 1982 in West Side Waltz. During the break from All My Children, she married her husband Richard Hirschlag, a dentist.

Ms. Barr is a celebrity spokeswoman for the Fund for Animals. She also involves herself with charities such as First Step, a job readiness program with the Coalition for the Homeless in New York.

In her spare time, she enjoys theater, studies voice and takes cooking classes.

Ms. Barr announced her intention to leave AMC in December, 2006, after 30 years on the show.
